About this ebook

This book is an easy-to-read guide through myriad facets of human spirituality meant to appeal to children as young as ten yet still appealing to adult beginners. It is not about religion, but is intended to serve as an eye-opener regarding just what spirituality is and the many aspects of our spiritual selves.
Rather than using a textbook or lecture notes approach, the author discusses issues in a grandmotherly way in relatable syntax. Each of nine chapters is titled with a question she believes people searching for answers would have such as Who is God?, What happens when we die?, Why do bad things happen?, etc.
Succinct and friendly, this little book introduces topics for discussion with family members and friends and paves the way to peace of mind.

    PREFACE

    FOR PARENTS AND BEGINNERS

I am not a formally educated professional. No PhD. No workplace expertise. No literary body of work. I am, however, the mother of two beautiful souls and grandmother to four children who have touched my life in immeasurable ways. As I contemplated the importance of my family’s physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing, I realized that all parents and grandparents have the same concerns. Of course we do—that’s what love is. That’s why I’ve written this book.

We also recognize we are living in incredibly turbulent times: Pandemics, political and social divisions, riots, elections, ETs, pollution, scandals, the rebellion of Mother Earth, proliferation of violence in entertainment, and ramped up negative emotions. The overarching reaction to all of this is fear, in varying degrees. We fear for our health. We fear for our safety and security. We fear for our country and our whole planet. And we fear for our children’s futures. While children have the uncanny ability to absorb the vibrations of the emotions around them—both positive and negative—like adorable little sponges, adults unknowingly do it as well. It’s just how we’re wired.

So why do I think I can write this book and that anyone will want to read it? How can we combat the fear that keeps our souls captive? The answer is both in getting and then understanding knowledge and applying that information.

I remember lying in bed thinking about death from childhood to my impending senior-hood, fearing the concept of the end of existence and feeling anxious about the idea that the universe is unending. I just could not wrap my head around it. If I mentioned that anxiety, the prevailing response was something like, God loves you. Be a good girl and say the rosary and your soul will go to heaven to be with Him. That’s all well and good, but I still didn’t understand death, I still didn’t understand good beyond obeying church law, I still didn’t get the time-space-universe
