The Intuitive Heart Revolution - Kate Connolly

    CHAPTER 1

    GETTING REAL

To change your life, you only need one essential ingredient: you. You alone are in control of your world. You, who may have a shitty job, or be in an unhappy relationship, or be at an unhealthy weight, cannot place any responsibility outside yourself for where you are or whether you’re going to change.

This does not mean dreadful or traumatic things that happened to you are your fault and you are to blame. Many people have had incredibly difficult and painful lives. What I’m saying is, rather than looking at what’s happened in the past, or maybe even the present, and seeing it as a negative, look at what it teaches you about yourself.

Everyone you meet and every experience you have teaches you about you. Everything you think, feel, and vibrate is reflected directly back to you in the form of your life, whatever it looks like. Knowing this can help you detach from drama and trauma and learn how to bring yourself into a new state of being. It helps change you from a victim into a conscious, aware, and responsible person.

Once you can embody the truest sense of consciousness, amazing things happen. I’m talking about truly being able to face all aspects of yourself and what holds you back.

The biggest and most important aspect of change is the awareness that you alone have the responsibility and the mandate to change your life.

And for true change, you need four things:

    1. Awareness that who you are and what you are doing isn’t who you want to be and what you want to do in the future

    2. True and honest desire to change your situation into something that serves you better

    3. Shifting/transmuting of subconscious sabotaging which may be getting in your way

    4. Alignment of your heart and your mind to create behavioural changes which crystallise your new desires and bring them into reality

All of these will bring you into your personal path of love, success, and joy. This may be the path you have been looking for your whole life and can’t seem to get on or stay on. You could call this awareness and awakening becoming conscious, or simply taking control of your life.

But how do you do this? When you look at your life, you may feel it’s going well and things are good enough, or perhaps you feel your life isn’t exactly what you dreamed of when you were young. If you are aware of things not being how you want them, how can you put the above list into action? It seems like a lot, doesn’t it? Just for a better job, a better relationship, a better life.

Put it this way: If you’re aware your life isn’t working wonderfully for you, how do you react? Do you think:

Oh well, that’s life, and we can’t have it all.

    or

This isn’t working for me, so let’s create something that does.

If you are in the former category, this book isn’t for you. If you believe things are fixed, preordained, and destined for mediocrity, then that’s exactly what you are going to get.

If, however, you wish to change things and shift into being your best, then sweet, let’s play.

To understand how to do this, you must first understand your body, mind, and spirit are one, as long as you are inhabiting a physical body. So, to change yourself, a change on all levels is required. I’ve tried changing one aspect of myself but not another, or two but not all three. Unfortunately, it just doesn’t seem to pan out when I do that.

When it comes to change, an understanding of the triad of health and the energetics of the body can help. It’s not enough to just start going to the gym if you want to lose weight, or to look at job ads if you want to step into the career of your dreams. Those things can create change, but do they last? Does the weight stay off? Does the job always meet expectations?

If you want to create permanent and solid change, you need to change everywhere, starting with your thoughts, feelings, and beliefs/vibration.

Your body and mind consist of physical, emotional, and biochemical components. The physical is your blood, bones, and organs. The emotional is your thoughts and feelings. And the biochemical is all the chemicals that make your body function: your digestive enzymes, probiotics, hormones, neurotransmitters, and so on.

Your spiritual body houses your soul, your essence, and your connection to Source and to all that is. It forms part of your personality and your unique footprint on the earth. This aspect of self needs to be distinguished, but is not separate from your emotions, as it contains your beliefs and your vibration, or attractor field, which determine what the world looks like around you.

A major component of your soul is not directly connected to your beliefs and needs special mention: your intuition. There is a distinct difference between your intuition and your beliefs. Your intuition comes from your connection to your higher self and source energy and is your ultimate truth speaking to you. Your beliefs on the other hand, usually come from your life experiences, genetic hand-me-downs and your conditioning.

Your intuition is innately connected to your higher self, your spirit, and your heart space. It is always speaking to you, or in my case, sometimes screaming, whether you choose to listen or not. Your intuition is unique to you and only accessible by you. Every time a decision is required about a path to be taken, your intuition, whether you choose to listen or not, will guide you in the right direction. The right direction is not always the easy direction—I need to be clear about that—but it will always lead you towards your highest path and usually the one with most joy and fulfilment.

So, when you have that little voice telling you to eat differently or rest now or let things go (you know, the one you may often ignore?), this part of you is always right, and always has your best interests.

Where do you find it? It can be felt anywhere in the body but for me, when I want to specifically connect? It sits neatly in my heart space. Some people call it their gut feeling or gut reaction. Placing your hands anywhere between your heart and your solar plexus (around the bottom of your rib cage and stomach area) will connect you with it.

Learning how to connect with, listen to, and go with your highest guidance will not only help you find your personal path—it will also keep you there. This book shows you the steps required to attune yourself to your highest guidance and gives you the practical tools to keep it going.

Intuition requires practice. It is a use it or lose it part of you. The more you ignore it, the harder it can be to access when you really need it. The more you listen and follow it, the easier it is to hear, feel and understand in your daily life.

It’s also about more than tuning into your intuition. Your body and mind need care and attention. You provide this care by looking after your physical and mental health, your energy, and your mindset. If you listen to your intuition, and do the hard work of going within, this becomes easy and effortless.

Committing to yourself every day creates this long-term solution. Accountability to yourself and your path is an important aspect of your personal growth. But you are not alone. Humans are designed to be interdependent and to be in a community.

Find what works for you and keep doing it! Find a guru, a guide, a friend to do this with. Join a meditation group or find something that allows you to stay tuned into this intuitive/heart space as much as possible.

This is an invitation for you to fully commit to yourself, your heart, and your destiny. When you can do this to the best of your ability on a daily basis, your life has no choice but to step into your highest purpose. You become capable of anything.

Whether you’re just learning about consciousness and how to step into it, or you’re a fully-fledged, radically self-aware person, this book will help. There is always more we can learn and more we can get to.

    I have a saying:

If you are not well on your way to living the life of your dreams, you have sabotaging and behavioural patterns that need to shift.

I can help you change these patterns of behaviour to create permanent and healthy habits and behaviours that bring you into full alignment with your purpose and joy.

So welcome to The Intuitive Heart Revolution! Your heart space will help you find your personal path in life. Your intuition, your connection to all that is, and your highest purpose will all become apparent as you navigate the steps. And as you learn, you practice, and as you practice, you perfect the art of becoming everything you’ve ever wanted to be.

There is a mass awakening on this planet. Are you in?

Whether we are aware or not, a mass awakening has been happening for the past several years on the planet and is increasing right now. Like corn kernels on a hot pan, we can’t avoid seeing all sorts of people waking up, becoming conscious, and starting to live their lives differently. Usually, it starts with an awareness that something is missing, and before we know it, people are starting a journey of self-discovery and spiritual awakening.

Even Earth, Mother Gaia herself, is shifting energetically. According to leading light workers, psychics, energy adepts and channels, Gaia is rising in feminine/heart consciousness. What does this mean? After centuries of being dominated by masculine energy, Earth is shifting into a more balanced state. Whether we are conscious of it or not, all of us are being called to connect more to our feminine energies. How do we do that? By learning about, and mastering, our heart connection.

This book helps you learn how to listen to your heart and your intuition, and how to navigate this human experience with integrity, connection to yourself and balance. You can learn how to connect to your higher purpose, navigate human emotions with ease, and process any personal sabotaging you have so you can move forward with grace.

Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to learn about yourself. Learn about:

    • How you actually work

    • How your life is a reflection of your beliefs

    • How to shift and heal belief patterns that don’t serve you

    • Start to live your life with intention, based on your deepest heart’s desires.

THE FIRST STEP IS THE HARDEST

Okay, the first step is sometimes the hardest. Our subconscious mind often keeps us in a state of fear/denial/distraction/numbing to stop us from being real with our situation. Because its primary job is to teach and protect us, you may not be aware of what is wrong or how to change it.

You may know something is wrong with your life because:

    • You are not happy

    • You feel like something needs to change but you don’t know what

    • You are in a relationship/job/home/situation that isn’t fulfilling, isn’t connecting with you or isn’t helping you move forward

    • You are constantly sick/worried/angry/frustrated/injured/tired etc.

Accompanied with a pulling from deep inside, you may feel like something is missing, or you aren’t quite where or who you are supposed to be. The feeling tugs at you and you can never quite shake it. You know it is trying to tell you something but you’re not quite sure what. That’s your intuition talking quietly but incessantly to help you wake up, pay attention, and think about doing things differently.

At the start of your journey, you are unlikely to wake up one morning after an illuminating dream and say to yourself: You know, I realised in my dreams last night that my job is unfulfilling because when I was eleven my mother told me that I’d always have a nine-to-five boring job until I retire.

No. It is more likely sabotaging is happening to you or around you, making you feel like things are not going well. You may get a cold every time you need to make a presentation at work, or an injury every time you want to participate in sport, or impotence in the bedroom, or experience other obstacles that get in the way of moving forward or feeling happy.

Why is this? Because everything you think, feel and vibrate becomes your reality around you. Your attractor field, your spirit and higher self, are projecting back to you what you’re putting out there. So, if the subconscious level part of you believes you are not good enough, you don’t deserve the best, and you can’t have it all, that is exactly what your life will project back to you.

A state of suffering or disconnection to yourself is not pretty. But when it’s not terrible, you may choose to feel comfortable in your discomfort.

The first step here is to get real. Spend some time contemplating your life; all areas of it. Don’t shy away from yourself. If you’re unhappy, dissatisfied or otherwise settling, become aware of this and allow it to be there for now. Later on, you will get some tools for working through it. For now, gathering awareness is key to answering questions about yourself later.

Living a life of fear and dissatisfaction results in a constant state of reaction, drama, and issues.

Your ultimate goal is to move from a general state of unhappiness to a general state of trust. When you can live your life, make decisions, and move in a direction with trust, everything becomes an adventure of love and connection.

    CHAPTER 2

WHAT DOES TAKING RESPONSIBILITY REALLY MEAN?

Once you’ve asked whether you are happy or not, you develop awareness of what you may or may not like about yourself, your life or your choices up until now. This is a big step. The process of becoming aware is huge and not to be taken lightly. If you’re still figuring it out, that’s okay too.

Becoming conscious can be tricky for people who are learning to take responsibility. There is a stage between not knowing your burdens and knowing which burdens to learn from. Here we become aware that we invite and attract all our life experiences. Our current life is a reflection of what we think, feel and believe. So, what happens when we don’t like what we see?

This stage can be a difficult and painful one. It might feel like:

Oh, my goodness, how could I let this happen?

I’ve done so much work on this, how come it’s still unresolved?

I have tried and tried to get rid of this, but it still bites me in the bum.

What’s wrong with me that I managed to invite this in?

What lesson do I need to learn here?

I think the Universe/God/the creator is trying to punish me

Am I being punished? Have I done something wrong?

    It’s so and so’s fault, I didn’t cause this!!!

I lived in this space for quite a few years, and it was hellish. Taking the Universe on as my sole responsibility was not only exhausting but served to make me more and more unwell and stressed. I knew about taking responsibility but took this on literally. It was my fault things were going wrong and it was my fault I was being served with issue upon issue and challenge after challenge. I could write an entire book based solely on the five to six years I lived in this place.

During this time, I felt like everything happening to me was a test I had to pass. I’d invited it in because I wasn’t good enough or deserving enough to have an easy life. Something was wrong with me that needed healing. I spent many sessions, months, and years trying to figure out all that was wrong with me. Physically, biochemically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Later, I went through a time when I blamed other people for bringing their energy into a space I needed to clear out, especially because I’m empathic and use it in my work a lot. I thought I felt crappy because of them. I reverted into a state of non-responsibility because, quite frankly, that was easier. My focus for a while became more about protecting myself than going within.

Can you see the theme here? All the self-talk was judgmental. All the reasons I struggled became a mission in: What is really wrong with Kate? or Who can I blame for this? What is going to keep someone in a state of suffering more than that? If you’re in a state of suffering and lack of acceptance, your ability to move on is limited.

    In this period
