    WALKING THROUGH LIFE BY FAITH DEVOTIONAL BOOK - Travis Holmes

    Week 1

    Walk Through

    Genesis 13:17

    "Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it;

    for I will give it unto thee."

    (KJV)

    The scripture verse above gives us some insight on being blessed and walking into the prosperity that God has already had for us. However, prosperity is not just given to us, but we must be willing to take the initiative to walk and possess it. We have lost sight of the word obedience, which does require an act of action. An action is an act of obeying the Lord and not just waiting for something to fall into our lap and not get caught up in "catchy and unfound truths" like money cometh and other non-sense.

    The first thing we need to do is arise. Genesis 13:17, "Arise, The word arise means to get up, as from a sitting or prone position; rise." It is extremely important to note that obedience to move is more important than just having the ear to hear what needs to be done. The reason our life does not change for the better is that we are in the wrong position, which is sitting and not willing to just get up. To get blessed and see the blessing, it is going to take action to first arise and move towards the desires of our hearts.

    The second thing is willing to explore and go through the land. Genesis 13:17, "walk through the land in the length of it and the breadth of it;" When learning to walk towards and around our blessings, it is essential to explore what God has for us. One thing is for sure that when God takes us to land and blesses us with the land. He gives us everything we need, desire, and want in that land. Having an opportunity to explore the land is a blessing and speaks to how God loves and cares for His children.

    The third and final thing is knowing that God has already given the blessing to us. Genesis 13:17, "for I will give it unto thee." Knowing that God has already prepared and given the blessings to us, it is important to get up and move towards what God has blessed us to have. There must be an act of obedience that cultivating with actions of obedience. Let us understand that God has given it to us, but we must possess the blessing.

    In conclusion, we are blessed to know that God has blessed us totally with everything we need, desire, and want, but we must act in faith not just with hearing, but acting with the action of obedience.

    {Rhema Word}

    We must act in faith not just with hearing the word of faith, but acting with the action of obedience to what the word of faith directing us to do.

    Walk-in His Ways

    Deuteronomy 8:6

    "Therefore, thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy God,

    to walk in his ways, and to fear him."

    (KJV)

    The above scripture gives more insight on why and how to "Walk in His ways." It is quite interesting to note that the word walk requires obedience and more importantly that walk is a command according to scripture. The word commandment is a military term that denotes rules and orders that needs adhere to. A commandment is adhering to the rules and regulations that have been already established. The word of God commandments us to act in obedience to His word by acting in and on our faith.

    The first thing is to recognize that God has given us commandments. Deuteronomy 8:6, "Therefore thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy God," Notice, the word tells us to keep the commandments. To keep the commandments, we must first recognize there are commandments to keep. The word commandments are plural, which means more than one. It is not just good enough to love God, but we must love all commandments and not just choose the one we want to adhere to. God is in all and all His commandments must be obeyed.

    The second thing is behaving according to this commandment. Deuteronomy 8:6, "to walk in his ways," The word ways is interesting because it implies two things, which are: 1) to live according to God’s word and 2) to behave a certain way that is an example of Gods image. God is very concerned about not just acting in obedience, but our actions must be transparent and exemplify in our behavior and mannerism. Actions are important to God because it tells us what our character and identity is really like. There is no disclosure of our actions, but our actions reveal who we are.

    The third and final thing is truly reverencing God. Deuteronomy 8:6, "and to fear him. The word fear must to reverence or show respect and value our relationship with the Lord. There is an old cliché that states, if you want to know what is in a person’s heart, just follow what he/she is spending his/her money on." When we respect and value our relationship with God, we will automatically worship, service, and obey God’s will through reverencing Him in everything we say, think, and do.

    In conclusion, walk-in ways are not just acts of obedience, but an act of obedience that changes our behavior and mannerism that reflects the image of God and the reality of our relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

    {Rhema Word}

    God’s commandments must be obeyed because obedience to commandments changes our behaviors and mannerisms that reflect His identity.

    Week 3

    What Do the Lord Require of Thee?

    Deuteronomy 10:12

    "And now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee,

    but to fear the Lord thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul."

    (KJV)

    The scripture above is asking a question to the believer who loves the Lord Jesus Christ. The question in context is simple in the abstract, but it is not easily answered in the practical. The question is What does the Lord require of us? None of us really ask that question to us truthfully and honestly about, what does the Lord wants desires, and needs from us. The Lord wants us totally and without any reservation from us who embrace His love for us.

    The word require means a need for a particular purpose. Deuteronomy 10:12, "And now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee," The Lord had asked this question to Israel, which is God’s chosen people. The question is indicating to Israel to search and investigate their heart, mind, and soul if Israel really sees a need to fulfill what God is requiring from us. Does Israel see a need to fulfill God’s purpose? Too many times, we (as believers) do not fully understand that God is requiring something from us every day, which is to be totally committed to Him and be light in this dark and lonely world.

    However, the scripture mentions four things that we should do that the Lord is requiring from us. It is important to realize and understand that these things will not be done unless we (believers have a relationship with the Lord).

    • The 1st thing is reverencing the Lord.

    Deuteronomy 10:12, but to fear the Lord thy God,

    • The 2nd thing is to live according to His ways.

    Deuteronomy 10:12, "to walk in all his ways,"

    • The 3rd thing is devoted totally to the Lord.

    Deuteronomy 10:12, "and to love him,"

    • The 4th and final thing is committing to him by rendering
