The over-40 sales rep was concerned about running a business and making money, rather than being caught up with being in the industry. They were more mature and experienced, and were able to solve problems more effectively than younger workers.

After a layoff, you must position yourself as someone who can get the job done and who brings a lot to the table. Don’t apologize for your age or joke about it or even mention it. Presume that your age is not an issue.
