About this ebook

In this novel a NASA meteorologist challenges his family to a year-long search for the truth if Global Warming is both real and caused by mankind leading to extinction. Forty percent of Americans believe it’s a hoax and a tool to control society for Socialist goals.
The Murray family covers the globe with family members serving as Electric Vehicle salesman, solar panel lobbyist, National Park ranger, and archeologists digging for proof. A small satellite was even lunched to monitor the thermafrost in Alaska. They uncover the total folly of the windmills on hilltops and seacoasts. A research trip to an electric vehicle factory uncovers the hidden costs of the vehicles, including battery disposal. Even the falsehoods of the “Great Reset” about climate are exposed.
Three of the family members take a research cruise to Antarctica where they learn about ocean warming, ice bergs, and the fate of animals, particularly the polar bears. They discover how China uses climate as a weapon to transform America into a Communist state.
In the end, the family celebrates Thanksgiving at the Phantom Ranch on the bottom of the Grand Canyon. After dessert, each family member reveals his or her findings about the topic. The story ends with Dr. Murray summarizing the year-long findings of seven people into one sentence.

    GLOBAL WARMING

DR. FRANCIS (FRAN) MURRAY, a senior meteorologist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, Maryland, just landed in Fairbanks, Alaska. Dr. Murray is the project manager for a scientific assessment of the loss of permafrost, the earthen material essential for the road north to and from the oil fields. Over time the permafrost releases methane gas, one of the potential culprits in the possible warming of the planet.

Dr. Murray’s research entails the placement of 4-inch diameter, six-foot long rocket-shaped instruments. Called Ice Picks at 80-mile intervals along the highway. The data of the ground temperatures is stored hourly and then uploaded to a light-weight satellite, the Greenstar, which captures the data and ultimately downloads it to the doctor’s personal computer in his Greenbelt office for analysis and presentation. The data is critical to know the first and last days the road is usable by heavy trucks.

At a balmy 25 degrees, Dr. Murray joined the mobile sensors placement team to witness the placement of the Ice Picks along the desolate highway. After the placement of the second sensor, a helicopter picked him up for the flight back to Fairbanks where he delivered two lectures to a climatology class. Sleep came easily after a huge steak dinner and adult beverage at a Gentleman’s Club.

The next morning the doctor boarded a flight to Alaska’s capital city, Juneau. A taxi took him to the statehouse for a 10:00 AM meeting with Governor Riley.

Good morning, doctor, and welcome to our fair state, said the Governor as he vigorously shook the hand of this guest.

Governor, you’re too kind, and thank-you for supporting my research, replied the internationally-acclaimed scientist.

Doctor Murray, it was a no-brainer, replied the governor as they sat down at a round table under the state’s very colorful great seal. As they sipped hot, black coffee, the doctor started to report on his visit to Fairbanks.

Sir, injected the governor, unless I’m mistaken, the amount of methane in our atmosphere has increased 70% over the last decade.

You are correct, Sir. And this modest experiment is meant to wake up the folks in Washington to the impact of methane, if any, on the climate. This project will also assess the impact of the permafrost melt on climate.

Now that the sensors will be in place by the end of next week, what is the status of the Greenstar satellite as you call it?

Governor, it’s a Lightsat weighing only 276 pounds undergoing final flight tests at GSFC. If all goes well, it will be transported to the launch site for the launch scheduled for late October.

Doctor, that’s good news. Am I right in assuming that with the on-orbit check-out completed in late November, this Greenstar can begin its mission in December.

That’s right, Sir. Other members of my team have also completed the installation of radios at the truck weigh stations on two of your busiest highways. These stations should be operational by Mid-December.

    Is that still your schedule?

Yes, it is. And by reducing the manpower at the weight stations and getting accurate monthly invoices mailed sooner to the trucking companies, we still project a return on the investment in less than three years.

Doctor, that’s good news. You know I justified the $3M Greenstar project to the legislature based upon this automation of the weigh stations.

"Yes, governor, I remember some of your speeches to make it happen.
