A Necessary Coup: A Novel About America’s Declaration of Independence from the Slavery of Socialism

About this ebook
A key element of the president’s plan is to woo billionaire inventor Matt Flynn and his wife, Heather, out of seclusion from their villa in Belize. As the Depression worsens, the Socialist president Bernie Cortez from California seeks Flynn’s advice in a secret session at Camp David. One of Flynn’s suggestions is for California to become a separate nation, a mecca for Socialists, with him as president. Matt also convinces wealthy industrialists to fund and develop massive infrastructure projects sorely needed in America to create tens of millions of jobs.
Rare in history, the secretary of defense’s coup is successful without spilling the blood of any citizen, and President Werner returns to the Oval Office while former president Cortez flies to California, now called Calicopia. President Werner defends his programs before the House of Representatives and gains a vote of confidence to continue to restart the economy. In less than six months, real progress is made. People get back to work, banks reopen, and international trade resumes. Compassionate healthcare is offered to the public. Immigrants are vetted for citizenship while working on the infrastructure programs. And perhaps the most controversial element of the president’s plan is the reduction of one million federal civil servants and half a million in the military, all forced into the private sector.
The novel ends with entrepreneur Flynn receiving his third Presidential Medal of Freedom. The Flynns retire to their new residence, called Beauvista, overlooking Thomas Jefferson’s classic Monticello. Flynn’s next challenge on behalf of his beloved republic is revealed in the light of a sunrise.

I think this is the most extraordinary collection of talent, of human knowledge, that has ever been together at the White House, with the possible exception of when Thomas Jefferson dined alone.

PREDICTION
On his verandah of his villa on the northwest coast of Ambergris Caye off the coast of Belize, the billionaire inventor and entrepreneur, Matt Flynn, was asked by his wife, Heather, Matt now that the Socialists have won the White House and both chambers of Congress, what’s going to happen to America?
The inventor of the Turbopod personal aircraft, helicopter, automobile and boat took a sip of this rum-based Baldie cocktail and reflected a moment before answering:
Honey, the greatest economy in the history of the world will implode in historic proportions. The Socialist’s twin campaign promises of diversity and equality will add to the already 80 welfare programs drowning the country in more debt and real and disguised unemployment.
"What’s your basic thesis, my dear?’ asked Heather with a glint in her eye as though she already knew the answer.
The new leaders are ignoring history where every Socialist state has failed because the Government either eliminated or ignored the absolute requirement for incentives to work. Work puts food on the table and dignity in the soul. Today, there is no incentive to save for retirement or a collapse of the economy because Big Government will bail everybody out of misery. Indeed, the basics of a capitalist society are shunned: prices, profits and property rights. The Government will take control of at least one-half of the basic industries but will fail to deliver a better standard of living. The new President will use us, the wealthiest 1%, as a scapegoat. But just like we’ve invented new air and sea craft and created thousands of high-paying jobs around the planet, it’s our class that invests to create those jobs.
I’m beginning to see your point, dear,
replied Heather as she turned her chair to bath in the late afternoon sunset.
But my dear, the situation quickly deteriorates into chaos,
responded the loving husband.
How so?
asked Heather.
Matt was quick to reply: The average family’s saving is a paltry $29,000. So, in less than one year, the obvious happens: DEPRESSION. The former Prime Minister of Great Britain, Margaret Thatcher, put it very well:
Socialism is fine until the Government runs out of other people’s money."
Heather then asked Matt: How bad will it get before we can return to a stable country where the economy is again the envy of the world?
At least a year, maybe two,
replied Matt. "It really depends upon how bad things get and the timing of President
