Wes Engel lives in Northern New Mexico where he writes mysteries and suspense thrillers. A child of the American West, he has explored every nook, corner and cranny. Wes has scaled its mountains, hiked its valleys, frolicked in its grassy wild flower dotted meadows, crawled across its deserts, kayaked its whitewater and rappelled into its deepest canyons.
Wes is familiar with its people, history and culture. He is drawn to the challenges of the land. Like lovers, he and the American West are intimate. His plot driven stories are compelling and topical. Always fast paced and suspenseful, full of roller coaster twists and turns, Wes creates clear protagonists even clearer villains.
I write about the American West; its people, its challenges, and the issues facing contemporary American West culture. I explore themes of economic development, the environment and lifestyle, all wrapped around a hard boiled thriller or mystery. My fiction has a strong sense of place and history.
