About this ebook
Poems written 1983 to 1989. “A to Z” was a collection of rhyming poems selected from various of my notebooks going back to when I first started writing, around 1983. Most were written in Oxford after I left Bristol in 1987 and before moving to London in 1989.

Are you high my fair feathered brother
are you sailing on the wing
are you shining like the star you are
are you special, are you the real thing?
Is everyone after you brother
trying to touch a piece of your light
are you crowned in jewels like a king
in the jungle of the night?
Are you making history brother
are angels yours to own
are you the leader brother
can no one touch you now?
I’ll see you tomorrow
when you come back down
I’ll see you beyond
what you are going through now
You’re too big to know
and too fool to care
about anything more than
your social fanfare
A dime
So much madness
I can’t digest
so many patterns
so little rest
He knew he was well
until you told him your view
and bent his direction
unloosened his screws
The cruelty has wasted him
and now he is gone
he thought he was special
he thought he shone
I can’t believe you now
I saw your evil ways
the fear in your eyes
as you blamed a friendly face
If he was crazy
you could have helped him through the night
instead you tied the noose
until he couldn’t fight
One day soon
you’ll pay for your crime
you tried to break a friend
you sold him out for a dime
Adventure
Now I’m growing tired of the confines
they are always
