Lame High School Poetry - Shawn Graham
A gem sparkles in a ring
Who knows what happiness it could bring?
Forever wrapped in gold
a story yet to be told
A story of a man
and the love he could not give
A story of a man and
the love he hides within
He looks deep down
into the prismatic stone
A radiant glow that mimics
the emotion churning within his soul
And sees nothing but his own heart
It is sad but true
A shadow of what he once knew
He stands there in a warm embrace
His soul churning,
Internal storm burning
He fell for her soft face
He looks to her now and then
and wonders if and when
Not willing to take the chance
not willing to lose what they still have
So instead he hopes and prays
At times venturing into
the world of false hope
It is on the border he stands now,
his sword of myth drawn
He peers across the forsaken land
and looks for hints of
longing, wanting, and maybe even love
Wishing for divine intervention from above.
The Love I Hold in Me
If I said I loved you
what would you say?
If I tried to hold your hand
would you push me away?
Maybe it's different now
Maybe I'm wrong
Is there still room in your heart?
It's been so long.
Could you ever take me as I am?
Could you take me for what I will become?
Feelings aren't different now,
they never changed
Oh why can't you see
the love I hold in me?
You are so beautiful
and I wonder what you want
I would meet your every whim
if you tell me what to do
I would fulfill your every dream
and bow down to you
I say to myself every night and day
why can't I be with you that
