    Note To Readers

    Dear Readers,

I made a choice to write this book the way I did instead of writing it in chronological order. While some of the sections do contain pieces of linear storytelling, many do not. Taking it out of chronological order means that you, the reader, will lose some context. But it also means that I can challenge the way you think about different kinds of love.

Please remember some of these poems were written long ago and some for this book. Some are pieces of older poems, taken and shaped and added to, and turned into something new, so that they are still as viscerally real for me today. Some of these poems were cut and reshaped and revised. Some of the poems will mean something different to me years from now. Whatever it means to you, I send it with love.

    Love,

    Lens Of Love

The truth is that the world is full of beauty.

Love does not change the contents of the picture,

Merely the location and size of the frame.

    1. Romantic Love

I hope that when you fall in love, it's the kind of love that makes you learn about yourself. When they tell you they love the mischievous grin you get when you're trying to surprise them, I hope that you learn to appreciate that about yourself, too. I hope it’s a love that opens your eyes to the parts of yourself you judged too harshly or skipped over.

I was as close to falling in love as one can get without having ever been with that person. That was my first time ever being in love, if you would call it that. My heart felt like Silly Putty and my idea of what unconditional love was, had been flipped upside down. Love, I realized, takes your heart, with all it has to give, and slowly shows you that your heart can grow bigger, adapt, strengthen. New love doesn't replace the work of the hands that molded it
