    Bismillahir Rahmaanir Raheem.

In the Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.

    Introduction

We ask Allah because He is our creator. He is the only One who can answer our prayers and give us what we want and more.

Allah (Glory be to Him) wants us to ask Him frequently for everything we need. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, ‘Allah is angry with those who do not make Dua (supplication) to Him.’

Asking Allah shows that we are helpless and always in need of our Creator. We humble ourselves before our Lord. Dua shows our complete submission and reliance on Allah. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, ‘Dua is worship.’

Allah says in the Quran, in Chapter 2 Verse 186, ‘And when My servants ask you, [O Muhammad], concerning Me - indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. So let them respond to Me [by obedience] and believe in Me that they may be [rightly] guided’.

Umar ibn al-Khattab said, ‘I do not worry about my Dua being answered. But I worry about making Dua since I know that if I am inspired by Allah to make Dua, the answer will follow’. Imam Ahmad was asked, ‘What is the distance between us and the Throne of Allah? He replied, ‘A sincere Dua from a sincere heart’. No Muslim makes Dua which does not entail a sin or the severing of ties of kinship without Allah giving him one of three:

    a) He fulfills his dua immediately,

    b) He stores it for him in the hereafter,

    c) He averts from him a similar evil.

The Prophet said, ‘The Dua of a slave continues to be granted
