DEDICATION
First, I like to dedicate this book to my parents especially my late mother, Mrs. Esther Nwaune Ekeke who did not live to see the fruit of her nurturing, caring and compassionate spirit. She never lived to read her inspiration and timeless wisdom on printed-paper. May her soul rest in peace.
Second, I dedicate leadership wisdom to my lovely wife Nnenna, who challenges me to be a godly husband.
Third, to my two amazing gifts from God: Chiedozie, and Chisom who inspire me daily to be an authentic father and spiritual leader. All three remind me of my calling and true purpose in life.
Fourth, to everyone I am in anyway related genetically or otherwise.
Finally, I dedicate this book to every person who is committed to leading wisely, morally, courageously and compassionately.
ACKNOWLEDGMENT
Leadership Wisdom for most part is God given inspiration especially during my reading and devotion time. It also owes great deal to a lifetime of learning from many teachers, mentors and leaders who taught me over the years and continues to teach me. Their teaching, training and mentorship in one-way or the other prepared me to write this book.
I want to acknowledge my best friend and wife, Nnenna. She took care of the children when they wanted me to read a book or go outside and play with them. She kept everything running smoothly and orderly in the home, while I worked almost every night and weekend on this book. Without her unwavering support and motivation, I would not have been able to finish this task. She is a wise woman, a trusted friend and most importantly a marvelous mother.
I give special thanks to all my relatives, friends, colleagues and readers of my papers and articles whose positive and generous feedback encouraged me to start writing this book.
I also like to acknowledge URLink Publishing for the cover design and for their constant encouragement to send in the manuscript in order to get started. Without their encouragement, this book would not have been finished.
Finally, I want to acknowledge the Holy Spirit, the spirit of wisdom for inspiring me. Without His grace, empowerment and favor, I would not be able to disseminate these ideas in printed form. It is my prayer that those called to lead would be enlightened on the true nature and divine obligation of leadership, which is to lead wisely, courageously and compassionately.
FOREWORD
When my husband asked me to write the foreword for his book, I hesitated at first. Personally, I have not read any book in which the foreword was written by the spouse of the writer. After giving some serious thought to it and considering the fact that the content in leadership wisdom has been a constant discussion in my household for more than four years, I considered it a great honor and privilege to write the foreword.
Leadership Wisdom—Divine Ingredients for Supernatural Leadership by Rev. Dr. C. K. Ekeke deals with the special insights and inspirations for leading wisely, courageously and compassionately.
It teaches and explains that an authentic leader must be called, commissioned and ordained into position of authority. The calling must come either from God, from people or by divine circumstances. A true leader must be someone who knows how to motivate, mobilize and inspire people to tap into the limitless opportunities that abound on planet earth. A genuine leader must have vision from God, not personal vision but vision that can identify with the people. A leader must have genuine character, godly courage and compassionate spirit.
In order to be authentic, a leader must possess godly wisdom. Rev. Dr. Ekeke argues that apart from the indescribable gift of life, there is no other gift that is more important than wisdom. For leaders, it is even more precious than any inherent leadership ability or learned leadership skills that a leader may have. King Solomon realized the need for godly wisdom for leadership despite his natural attributes and family heritage when he prayed in First Kings 3:7-9 for wisdom and discerning heart to govern the people of Israel. Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom; and with all thy getting get understanding (Proverbs 4:7). King Solomon made it abundantly clear that godly wisdom is a very important ingredient of leadership as well as a key element for supernatural living. The Apostle James wrote to the Saints at the Church in Jerusalem,
If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him (James 1:5). If you are called in any fashion to lead people, you must pray and ask for godly wisdom. It is impossible to lead effectively, efficiently, genuinely and compassionately without godly wisdom.
Rev. Dr. C. K. Ekeke then makes a case that leadership is hard work. Therefore leadership requires wisdom and courage that can only come from the originator. Jesus, the greatest leader ever known to mankind made this prophetic statement more than 2000 years ago, Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to give his life as a ransom
(Matthew 20:26-28). In a nutshell, Jesus said that to be a leader, one must be willing to serve, be a slave and ready to die. This is what genuine, pure and godly leadership is all about. What we see today in our world is not leadership. Today’s leaders want to be served rather than serve. Today’s leaders do not seem to have the interest
