The author was tired of helping other people enjoy God, and just wanted to enjoy God herself. She realized that she had been too busy and out of touch with her own soul to say what she wanted to say to God.

Sometimes, even if we try our hardest to be a good leader, it still isn’t enough. We may feel like we aren’t up to snuff, and that something is wrong with us.

We must be careful not to over-organize and over-intend our services, events, and activities. While we must plan for the unexpected, we must also remember to keep our focus on the spiritual.

Spiritual leadership emerges from our willingness to stay engaged with our own soul. We must stay on the path of becoming our true selves in God, rather than trying to be someone or something we’re not.

There is the tension between having an organizational hierarchy and the mutuality and interdependence of life in community. There is the tension between working the system and establishing trust with others. And then
