About this ebook
Get the Summary of Saul Griffith's Electrify in 20 minutes. Please note: This is a summary & not the original book. Original book introduction: Griffith, an engineer and inventor, calls for grid neutrality, ensuring that households, businesses, and utilities operate as equals; we will have to rewrite regulations that were created for a fossil-fueled world, mobilize industry as we did in World War II, and offer low-interest “climate loans.” Griffith’s plan doesn’t rely on big, not-yet-invented innovations, but on thousands of little inventions and cost reductions. We can still have our cars and our houses—but the cars will be electric and solar panels will cover our roofs. For a world trying to bounce back from a pandemic and economic crisis, there is no other project that would create as many jobs—up to twenty-five million, according to one economic analysis. Is this politically possible? We can change politics along with everything else

#1
To avoid the worst effects of climate change, the only serious solution is to electrify everything, as this would cut carbon emissions by nearly 100 percent.
#2
To sum it all up, we need to prepare for the worst and hope for the best. We need to be ready to adapt to a drastically changed climate, and we need to be ready to fight for a future that we want.
#3
The first step towards solving climate change is to recognize that it exists. Climate change is not a problem that can be solved by increasing efficiency and modifying existing systems; it requires a complete transformation of how we live.
#4
Clean energy will largely come from the sun and other renewable energy sources. To make the switch, people need to understand that clean energy is cheaper, safer, and more reliable than fossil fuels.
