President Donald Trump is a man who sees everything as an opportunity for personal gain, and he has a history of using his wealth, power, and celebrity to get whatever he wants.

Trump’s nearly constant use of the word great
is not a myth – that is how he talks. Hyperbole is his instinctual method of communication, exaggerating his own talents and wealth and physical characteristics and achievements, as if by enlarging things he could make them real.

Trump didn’t actually own Trump Mortgage. Like many of his
businesses, there was a licensing agreement, paying Trump royalties for the use of his name, a structure which shielded him from liability, but also meant he had no equity in the business.

Working for Trump, Michael Cohen was made to cross moral, ethical, and ultimately criminal boundaries. Trump began by testing his fealty and submissiveness, the way a gang leader assesses a new recruit, giving the wannabe small crimes to commit to see how loyal he is.
