The Virgin Birth - Leonard Ford

    Dedication

Dedicated to Jessie O. Ford, my beloved wife, in whom I am well pleased. For your loyal and prayerful support—I am grateful. May God's best always be yours is my prayer for you.

    Preface

There is much controversy concerning the authenticity of the birth of Jesus, whether He was actually born of a virgin.

A prominent evangelist did a survey in 1984 that proved 98% of ministers graduating from theological seminary did not believe in the virgin birth of Jesus. If Jesus was not virgin-born, then He is not the Son of God. In view of this, my endeavor is to prove that Jesus was, indeed, born of a virgin.

    Introduction

    GALATIANS 4:4-5

4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,

5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

    ***

    ISAIAH 9:6

6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given:

    ***

    ISAIAH 7:10-14

10 Moreover the LORD spake again unto Ahaz, saying,

11 Ask thee a sign of the LORD thy God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above.

12 But Ahaz said, I will not ask, neither will I tempt the LORD.

13 And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David; Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will ye weary my God also?

14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

All of your life, you have heard that Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary in Bethlehem and was laid in a manger. We are going to dissect and unfold this matter. It will be revealed so we can have an understanding that Jesus was truly born of a virgin. We will see the importance, authenticity, reality, actuality, factuality, and the infallibility of the virgin birth.

Without a shadow of a doubt, we will see that Jesus of Nazareth was as much man as I am. Because He was a man, I am striving to be as much God as He was. Christ the man and man the Christ— this is the mystery hidden from the ages. We are the righteousness of God. We are God in the earth. Jesus was God in a human tabernacle.

I want to share with you a revelation concerning the virgin birth. A revelation should make the Word of God plain. I believe, as I make it plain, you will be blessed.

Chapter 1 Why Jesus Had to Be Born

Jesus had to be born because He had to be a man—a human being with a body—in order to redeem mankind. It was Adam, the man, which caused every man born into the earth to be a sinner by nature. Therefore, if God was going to redeem man back to Himself, He would have to use a man to do it. That is the only way it could be legal.

    ROMANS 5:12

12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Every human being that comes into this earth has to enter through the womb of a woman, and in order to do that, they must come from the loins of a man. The law of Genesis is that every seed produces after its own kind. The first human (Adam) was created by the Word (seed) of God, and
