    Her & Her - Somalian Flower

    Anosognosia- A condition in which a person with some disability seems to be unaware of its existence.

    Now

    The defendant takes a plea of not guilty during the initial court appearance.

    1st trial

    (Bailiff):

    All rise. Department 3 of the High Court is now in session. Judge Anthony Wells presiding. Please be seated.

    (Judge):

    Good morning Ladies and gentlemen. Calling the case of the people of the state of Seattle versus CATHERINE DAUNTRY. Are both parties ready?

    (District Attorney):

    Ready for your people your honor.

    (Public Defender):

    Ready for the defense your honor.

    Opening Statements:

    (District Attorney):

    Your honor, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, the defendant’s name to my client is PHOEBE KALLAHARD and not CATHERINE DAUNTRY as she claims and she is liable for committing aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against the victim, SIR KEITH WILLIAM LAWSON on the night of November the 12th.

    The accused who was intimately acquainted with my client stabbed him in his lower abdomen after a simple disagreement at my client's residence.

    She then proceeded to call for help and accompanied Mr. Lawson to Seattle Grace Hospital.

    The evidence I will present will prove to you that the defendant is indeed GUILTY as charged.

    (Public Defender):

    Your honor, ladies and gentlemen of the jury; my client, whose name is CATHERINE DAUNTRY and not PHOEBE KALLAHARD as ascertained by the evidence brought forth in all her documents and family witnesses was at home on the night of the incident. This case is therefore seemingly one of mistaken identity or the false accusation

    (District Attorney);

    Objection, Speculation.

    (Judge);

    Sustained. The prosecution may call its first witness.

    (District Attorney);

    The People call the receptionist on duty on the night of November the 12th.

    {The Bailiff takes the witness to the stand}

    (Clerk);

    Please stand. Raise your right hand. Do you promise that the testimony you shall give in the case before this court shall be the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you, God?

    (Receptionist);

    I do

    (Clerk):

    Please state your first and last names.

    (Receptionist):

    Amelia Roosevelt.

    (Clerk):

    You may be seated.

    (District Attorney):

    Miss Amelia Roosevelt. Where were you on the night of November the 12th?

    (Receptionist):

    I was on night duty at the Seattle Grace hospital.

    (District Attorney):

    What case would you rank as one that stood out that night?

    (Receptionist):

    Well, being a trauma center, we get all sorts of interesting cases more often than not, but umm I remember the hypothermic girl and her boyfriend pretty well.

    (District Attorney):

    By a show of your hand could you point to the hypothermic girl in question?

    {Receptionist points to ‘Catherine/Phoebe’.}

    (Receptionist):

    She came in the arms of him – she points to Mr. Keith Lawson, the victim. Uh, she was dangerously hypothermic and after a few tests, we also discovered that she had some drugs in her system.

    (District Attorney):

    Miss Roosevelt, I have here with me, the evidence I would like to introduce into question. These are the records of the patients that were treated on the night of the 12th. Would you kindly read the name at the time 2:30 am?

    (Receptionist):

    Yes, umm at 2:30 am PHOEBE KALLAHARD checked out after undergoing hypothermic treatment, and below is a signature by her and myself.

    (District Attorney):

    No further questions your honor.

    Get out Phoebe! I wince as I hold the side of my belly in excruciating pain.

    The doctor begins to walk her out.

    She looks confused, somewhat baffled at my reaction.

    What is wrong with you? I wince again, Pain.

    Sir, you have to stay still, your wound will tear. the doctor says, gripping my shoulder.

    "Stay still? she stabbed me...pain...this bitch stab...aargh...pain!"

    I groan in agony and childishly spit in Phoebe’s direction.

    I can feel the blood rushing to my face and can almost taste the revulsion I have for Phoebe.

    She is standing at the door, her glossy wide eyes exuding fear.

    Fear?

    SHE stabbed ME!

    I should be the scared one.

    Women.

    No, calling Phoebe a woman is disparaging to all women.

    She is a demented sick, psychopathic knife stabbing...pain...

    Breathe, breathe, breathe.

    God...she makes me crazy.

    Despite the flashing images of our screaming matches, her tears, and my blood, I know that with every fiber in my bone, Phoebe is my one.

    It's hard to admit that, especially after that 'one' almost killed you.

    But dead or alive Phoebe is my one.

    She knows it, I know it.

    I lay my head down on my pillow to swallow the bile coming up.

    Phoebe please leave...please, I say flatly in resignation, my eyes shut in pain.

    Ma'am, I’m afraid you have to go, you can come back later. the doctor tells
