About this ebook

We don't all react in the same way or manner, but there is a remote possibility that we may see an issue in the same exact way; however, taking completely different and various directions to cope and deal with how we feel and the situation. Someone very dear to me used to say, "it's mind over matter, and you will catch more bees with honey than with bitter tart vinegar."

    FORWARD

It took me a very long time to decide to start writing again. My first writing experience began in the year 1972 when I was in the 3rd grade. I was watching the Popeye—Captain Jack show on Channel 11; and they were announcing an essay contest. All I had to do was write an essay and send it in with a picture and the name of the school. The contest was for children in Elementary School from 3rd grade to 5th grade. I was so excited; that I pulled out my father’s dictionary and began looking up words from A to Z to see how I could develop what I wanted to say. My father had been a teacher; and he was helping with my English and Math assignments. So, I told him it was an assignment. However, I had to write and be able to use vocabulary at my level, on my own. I finished writing the essay letter, attached my school picture—wearing a red turtle neck, and I put the letter in an envelope, got a stamp and mailed it off. was eleven-years-old at the time. Then, two weeks later, while I watched the Captain Jack—Popeye Show, I saw my picture on the television screen, and Captain Jack reading the essay that I had submitted.

In the year 1980 I landed a job working for a telecommunications company named: Association of Composers, Authors, & Publishers (ASCAP). I still remember. During the interview, the interviewer asked me if I had ever participated in any television essay-writing contest because my name seemed familiar to her. Of course, I answered yes, and I was hired instantly.

I owe most of my good fortune and progress to God Almighty and father and teachers who guided me Professionally and Educationally throughout my life.

I dedicated this book to my daughter Melissa, and tell this story in memory and with respect to my mother and father (may they both Rest in Peace).

    April 1970

Early afternoon after school one day, me and my youngest sister sat on the living room floor playing checkers—laughing, arguing, and carrying-on; making a lot of noise. My father had just woken up and was sitting the kitchen with my mother, and we were giving him a headache. He was exhausted and yelled out, What the hell is going on in there with you two kids! Me and my sister looked at one another and kept quiet. However, before we knew it, he had grabbed a hair brush; grabbed me
