About this ebook

Did God really speak? In the troubled minds of many hovers this question as they quietly groan in disappointment. The hope-inspiring joy of hearing a divine promise diminishes in comparison with the crushingly sickening experience of that promise not seeing the light of day. As bitter as gall would be an understated description of the latter.

Do we have a part to play in birthing a prophetic promise? Are there other channels of discovering prophetic promises? How do we connect or gain access to those channels? What are the basic things to know about prophetic promises? These and many more relevant concerns have been discussed in this book. The author has produced this book out of lessons gleaned from information, revelation, and experience—spanning a period of over two decades.

It is about time spiritual quagmires, psychological inhibitions, and other forms of impediments to the manifestation of God's promises became history.

Birthing Prophetic Promises - Raphaelle Antwi

    Introduction

Mark, the Lord says He has given you an international ministry. You will travel around the globe and will be a blessing to many people. As a matter of fact, I see you in a vision speaking to large gatherings of people in the United States, United Kingdom, and in many other countries. These were the words of a respected prophet, preceded by an accurate revelation of Mark’s address and family history. Ten years following, Mark continues to grow more and more despondent as every application to travel outside his country is refused.

Christiana was the toast of her church. She loved the Lord deeply and committed most of her time to serving others. She also supported the church generously with her money. One day, her father fell sick, visited the hospital, and was diagnosed with a terminal disease. At this point, God was the only hope, so the family resorted to praying for a miracle. Christiana took her father to see their pastor for prayers.

During the prayer, they were assured by the pastor that God would heal him. Christiana was asked to undertake a three-day prayer and fasting for him. She was assured that they would receive a miracle afterwards. A few days following the prayer and fasting, the man’s condition became worse as he was rushed to the hospital. He was pronounced dead on arrival. Today, the disappointment, anger, bitterness, and pain in the heart of Christiana cannot be sufficiently described.

She went ballistic! Alice could not bring herself to comprehend why the doctor would give her that report. After years of fidelity to her resolve of remaining chaste until marriage, she ties the nuptial knot only to be told later that the condition of her womb was unfavorable for conceiving her own child. The doctor’s advice to consider adoption nearly drove her mad. As she spoke with me, I could feel her intense anger against God. She did not pull punches at disclosing how disappointed she was at God. I thought God promised to bless me with twins. Was it a lie? Was it even worth it remaining a virgin till marriage? She fumed.

Before his birth, the parents of Amos were told by a respected man of God that they would give birth

to a boy on Tuesday. He would look exactly like his grandfather, and would grow up to be as great as his grandfather was. Truly, Amos was born just after midnight on a Tuesday. Growing up, Amos was told by many others that he was destined to become great. An aura of greatness around him was obvious to nearly everyone who met him. Unfortunately, Amos died a pitiable pauper at age 80—never seeing all the greatness that had been prophesied concerning him.

For all the over twenty years that I have been privileged to serve as a leader and mentor to countless people the world over, I continue to meet the likes of the aforementioned. It breaks my heart to see people frustrated as they wait earnestly to no avail, for the manifestation of prophetic promises concerning them. I have met people who have sworn to never again have anything to do with prophets and prophecy. It is my hope and prayer that this book will prove helpful in unveiling relevant and useful truths as far as birthing prophetic promises is concerned.

    When Life Throws You Lemons

Life is like a pendulum—a body suspended from a fixed point, that can swing back and forth under the influence of gravity. We go through ups and downs, highs and lows, victories and defeats, successes and failures, celebrations and mourning. This reality seems to apply in all six dimensions of our lives—spiritual, soulical, physical, family, financial, and social.

Many scientists believe the farther a pendulum swings from center, the greater the stress upon it to change direction. It is therefore not surprising that our highest of moments almost more often than not seem to invite our lowest of moments, and vice versa. You probably can recall how your greatest moment of pain was soon followed by your greatest moment of joy—and the other way round. Unfortunately, some of our low moments hit us so hard that we are helplessly left with a scar of bitterness for a long time.

Bitter and barren are bedfellows if not twins. You will hardly find one without the other. In my ministry, God has gifted me with the grace to help couples battling conception issues to be blessed with the fruit of the womb. I have counseled, prayed for, and offered guidance for many couples to receive their miracle babies within the last ten years. A good number of them were blessed with twins. One of my discoveries is that a life of fruitfulness eludes those who remain bitter and unforgiving.

Once our soul is helplessly possessed with the poisons of bitterness and unforgiveness, we become vulnerably entangled to the wicked wishes and

manipulations of the devil. The devil whose threefold mission is to steal, kill, and destroy has a bitter and unforgiving person at his beck and call. Just as Pharaoh and Herod, the two Satan-typifying personalities in the Bible passionately indulged in destroying babies, the devil’s favorite pastime is to see the seeds of God’s prophetic promises destroyed in the wombs of their bearers.

Put a prophetic seed of God’s promise in the spiritual womb of a bitter and unforgiving life, and that seed cannot effectively go through the process of becoming fruitful. Empty yourself of all bitterness and unforgiveness. Understandably, this may be difficult or seemingly impossible. Like Hannah, the woman described as barren in the Bible, go before the Lord in prayer and pour out your bitterness and unforgiveness. Bare yourself emotionally before Him and feel free to weep, even cry if you must. Do not hold back from unbottling all the emotional poisons inhibiting your fruitfulness. Resist anybody and anything that resists your undertaking this auspicious exercise.

And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the LORD, and wept sore...And it came to pass, as she continued praying before the LORD, that Eli marked her mouth. Now Hannah, she spake in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore Eli thought she had been drunken. And Eli said unto her, How long wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from thee. And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the LORD.  1 Samuel 1:10, 12-15
