Young And Busy Shaking The World - Gugu Moloi

    INTRODUCTION

I want you to know that what is happening in the world, today, is not abstract. What is happening in your life, today, is not abstract. This book will challenge you to move from the periphery of history to the centre of the storyline that is being written daily.

This book is an invitation from me to you, to come on an adventure of a lifetime. Many years ago, I came across the words of one of the most powerful leaders in the history of the world – Joshua. We do not know what his surname was but we know that he was one of the men that Moses had trusted to go and spy out the land of Canaan before the hostile takeover. Moses later died, and Joshua was confronted with the assignment of leading millions of people into the promised land. In his conversation with God, in the very first chapter of the book, by the same name, these words came from the mouth of God to Joshua:

No one will be able to defeat you as long as you live. I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will always be with you; I will never abandon you...

    Joshua 1:5

You see, when I read these words, they challenged me. Living in South Africa, even under apartheid rule, these words pushed me out of my comfort zone and immediately forced me to think clearly about what they really mean to me. You see before I had come across this passage, I had seen myself as a victim of apartheid. I had taken the poison of a system and let it get so deep in my head that I placed limitations on myself and what I could achieve based on this system. But these words that God spoke to Joshua for some reason, bothered me and I began to meditate on them day and night. How could God say to Joshua who was about to go to a foreign land with millions of people that no man would stand before him? It was not as if the land was unoccupied! It was not as if they were going to meet friendly people? They were going to take over the land. So, I was forced to sit and ponder about what did God really mean?

I started to think about my specific case in South Africa. Did God not see the brutal killings during apartheid, did God not see that as a black child I had a limited scope and ability to do things in my nation? Why did God even make me think about this verse! I got angry at myself for opening the pages of the Bible, I got mad that God was forcing me to see His original intention for me too. I had been blinded by the intent of the apartheid government! With a country with so much original wealth that God gave us it took a special system to find a way to bury the majority of a people into such a place of depravation. I was raving mad all by myself. I was mad that I had opened these pages, because now, I was confronted with this passage. I had to start the process of forgiveness. I had to start a journey of love. I had to start a journey of reading the whole Bible so that I could fully understand what had just happened.

As soon as I read these words, I realized that I could no longer go back to thinking the way I thought before reading these words. According to these simple words, God says that it is all up to me and not up to some government policies, for me to get somewhere! So, my journey began and in the next few pages, you will learn about how through the valleys and of the shadows of darkness I was not afraid because suddenly I learnt about a world I had known by hearing about it from my grandparents and my mother, but now a new kingdom with its own system was confronting me as I began my life journey. Honestly, I wished I had never opened the Bible because now, I was forced to see the picture of who God says I am and not what the world system says I am. That right there frustrated me to no end and led me to questions which helped me to see that I was living a life that was not in accordance with my true inheritance. It made me so mad that I made a decision to start reading the Bible all the more so that I could get the full picture of the Truth. I learnt that Truth had a name. His name is Jesus.

Now, based on this Word of God, I believe that no one on the face of the Earth, is able to stand in the way of your destiny because the God, who created you, is bigger than anyone on the face of the Earth. If He is with you, who, honestly, can be against you? No, think about it! Who is bigger than God?

I am getting ahead of myself here. I challenged the young people in Alexandra, and I challenged my children as well, to take a chance and have a life-long adventure with God. I shared words from the Bible with them about the future that God has ordained. I shared with them that only God is faithful to each and every one of His children, and that He ensures that His Word is fulfilled. I told them that there is no other adventure, on the face of the Earth, that could reshape the world, more than the personal relationship that they could have with Jesus Christ. I told them that if everyone who is in Jesus Christ came together, they could turn the world upside down.

As you can imagine, this made a few people really mad, but a few got excited. All manner of emotions were rising up and the more angry many were, the more I showed them the rich tapestry of the Word of God and how they need to look at themselves; not at the situation they find themselves in but to see themselves through the original intention of God. I also spoke to them about the fact that once they became children of God, they were in a different and better league completely. Sadly, just because people are in a different league it does not always necessarily follow that they will take up their rightful positions. Many of those who started to see who God said they were, were so attached to the world system that they were unwilling to unlearn what they have grown up knowing even if it meant living beneath their inheritance and living beneath who they were really created to be. I saw with my very eyes how people were attached to darkness with no results but preferred that because their entire families have lived a life of living beneath their inheritance. It was too hard to change.

I told them that the transformative power, that comes from the Word of God, can fundamentally change any industry in the world. I told them the story of some fishermen, professional fishermen, who, one day, went fishing but caught nothing the whole night. It seems that on that particular day, even though they were professional fishermen, they could catch no fish. While they were struggling, Jesus was sitting on another boat, teaching the people the Word of God. When Jesus had finished teaching, He shifted His attention to the struggling fishermen and seeing that they had caught no fish, He told the fishermen to cast their net on the right side of the boat and they would find some. They were reluctant to listen to Jesus and said to Him, Master, we have worked hard all night and caught nothing. But if You are saying we must lower our nets again, we will do it. What happened next, changed the whole city. They caught so many fish that they had to call their friends to participate in this major turnaround, in the local economy. Just one word from Jesus, and there was an immediate economic turnaround. So, I told the young people in Alex and my own children that they can also experience a turnaround, if they chose to be followers of Christ and start their own journeys. With their mouths gaping in total disbelief, and some saying that they had not heard of this before, they questioned why this is not being preached and implemented. I told them that it is, but people are more interested in the noise of the world, than in the sure Word of God that removes toil. I told them that the Kingdom of God still required them to work, but that the work required was going to be enabled by a game changer – the Holy Spirit. This was a foreign concept for many.

I do not have enough room, in this book, to tell you of all the journeys that each one of these young people started. I salute them for starting. You can take up the challenge too. You can decide to live the life that God ordained for you since the beginning of time, or live a life determined by your environment and the circumstances in which you find yourself. You decide.

God says in His Word, in the book of Jeremiah:

I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for...

Do you see this pattern? It is not the future of the country in which you live, nor the future of the household you belong to, nor the street in which you live, it is the future that you hope for!

Whichever part of the world you might be in, you may be thinking that your problems are insurmountable and that you cannot move forward and lead a better life. But hear me: you may not understand the meaning right now, but you need to know that God wants you, yes you, to have a great life, despite the challenges that you might be facing. How do I know? God spoke these words through the mouth of Jesus, while He was walking the Earth.

…I have come in order that you might have life - life in all its fullness...

I am going to make you mad now. Poverty is not a badge of honour. Poverty does not make you humble. Poverty is not the will of God for your life. Poverty is a curse – yes a system designed for you to be kept beneath the inheritance which God has for you, since the world began! There is nowhere, in the Word of God, where He says, I wish for the people who choose Me as their God, to be poor, so that I can keep them on a leash. Look at the system of your government, look at the system of your traditions, look at the systems of your religions, look at the economic systems in your country and better still look at each industry and you will see where poverty is coming from. Someone engineered it, I can confirm it was not
