Preface

Imagine being an artist selling and exhibiting art within a year of discovering your gift as a painter and a healer. As I write this book, two years from when I began painting, I have created over 200 paintings and discovered a world of spiritual healing. Prior, I could only draw stick people! I had no idea there was any artistic talent in me. I started with pouring paint on a canvas and swishing it around to create beautiful abstracts, to picking up a brush, and painting landscapes and subjects. Along the way, I discovered intuitive healing arts and instructed pour painting classes showing others how to connect to their soul expression. While I accept that I am somewhat talented, I believe there is a divine purpose for how and why I have this gift.

In October 2016, my mother passed away from cancer. This life-changing event was profound and provoked what some would consider a mid-life crisis. It made me look at my life, question why I am here, and what I wanted to accomplish and experience on this earth plane before crossing over to the other side.

As you can already see by this statement, I believe our soul energy lives on. My mother’s death motivated me to explore life after death, the possibility of speaking with the dead, and to seek spiritual healing for my grief. As a Catholic girl with Buddhist family members, who later grew up with the Evangelical Pentecostal Church teaching Sunday school, I was open to the universal teachings of God or the Universe. I was always curious about new age teachings—astrology, numerology, psychic readings, mediums, or what my husband refers to as the heebie jeebie world. It was when I met the author and Akashic teacher, Teza Zialcita, in 2018 and read her books Ions of Manifestation and Universal Conscious Self that I embarked on a spiritual learning path. That year, I learned about energy healing, past lives, channeling the afterlife, and . . . my gift of art.

My art journey happened simultaneously with my spiritual journey. I learned that we are all able to connect with the afterlife, giving us hope that there is more to us than our physical being and that there is a higher purpose for our existence. I was comforted by the ability to communicate with loved ones from the other side, which helped heal my grief. We have a spirit team that guides us and watches over us as we experience being human. These guides are soul-connected and resonate with us in our incarnation as we journey through life. We are all blessed with intuition and the ability to awaken its intensity to assist us if we so wish. We can use the cathartic process of creating art in a sacred space to connect and stimulate self-discovery and healing. The synergy of art and spiritual healing give birth to intuitive healing arts.

After discovering I could paint with spirit, my journey as an accidental artist accelerated. Through beautiful coincidences or what I refer to as divine synchronicities, I was propelled into the world of art and healing. I started exhibiting at festivals and events, stores, holistic spas, galleries, cafés, a winery, and even at a large tradeshow. I created pour painting workshops, incorporating intuitive healing with my soul sister, Sheryl Jackson, and we helped others connect to create beautiful artwork. Finding the gift of art and spiritual healing also opened up new experiences! I was filmed for a documentary on Pacific Arts Market and the Vancouver community. I was also invited to paint wall murals at the Royal Columbian Hospital with the New West Artists. Grateful to connect with people from all walks of life from all over the world, I feel blessed for these continued opportunities.

I would like to acknowledge and give thanks to the Cosmic Doulas: Teza Zialcita, Pia Edberg, and Linda Stelluti, for guiding me through the journey of writing, editing, and publishing this book. I am thankful that these beautiful Goddesses met me here at this juncture of my life as we had promised each other from the other side.

Through it all, I unknowingly aligned spiritual teachings with life experiences that led me to the path of being an artist and living life’s purpose. The surprise is that it is not about the end-result of the art created. It is about the journey that is the gift, turning grief into something beautiful. This is my journey as an accidental artist, and I hope it inspires you to see with your heart and live life
