    Every battle is a blessing.

True Stories of How God of Negative Situations and the Many Blessings From It

Many of your blessings will be dressed as burdens, and if you don’t see it and reject it, you will lose God’s blessing/favor in that area. God doesn’t come many times with neon signs saying this is a blessing. He works in mysterious/subtle ways, even through your enemies. People you want to run over with your car then back up can give you the greatest blessings.

    A. David and Goliath Story (1 Sam. 15–18)

    1. Humility/Faith/Obedience: Many preachers/people focus on David and his five stones. What they fail to recognize is what happened before that because it had no fanfare. It was David’s obedience to his father, after his father told him to go feed his brothers, that God was enabled to line him up to fight the giant Goliath. He didn’t even know he was in for a fight. If he would have told his father I’m not going to be a gopher, I was anointed to be the next King of Israel, he would have never become a gladiator. Goliath was not David’s giant. He was King Saul’s.

There are times when you will fight other people’s battles. So whatever job you’re doing right now, don’t think it’s beneath you. God is preparing you for each step. It’s the step that leads to the step that God has for you. God wants to see if you can handle with faith the step you’re in now before he can trust you with more favors. It’s like climbing steps. You cannot jump from the bottom to the top. Your greatest tests/challenges will come when you’re closer to your destination (T. D. Jakes, sermon Goliath Is at the Gate).

    2. Anointed and Appointed: In God’s sovereignty, no man can change the course he has for you. Like David and the other prophets, God will anoint and appoint you for his destiny.

    A. Donald Trump: God uses everybody, whether you frame it in your mind or not. He needed someone who wasn’t a country club Republican to go against the demon-crats in Washington and other countries—the personality, drive, boldness. God has blessed America using Donald Trump as his vessel and along with VP Pence, another good Christian man.

    B. Apostle Paul: A murderer. People in those days said, How can God use this man? God uses and does the opposite of what man thinks.

    C. Moses: With a speech impediment, tending sheep in the wilderness.

    D. Apostles/Prophets: Judas, Matthew, Luke, Peter, Joseph, Elijah, David.

These prophets/apostles that God picked wouldn’t pass most employment background checks.

    3. Fighting for someone else: Dr. Martin Luther King, Donald Trump, Ronald Reagan. He uses every personality for his glory, not ours.

    4. God’s golf course: It has unlimited holes to challenge your destiny with no par, because he is the only one on par. God will show you the hole in one, even though you may face bunkers/water along the way. Keep focused. He will show you signs. Look, even to Noah he showed a birdie.

Your greatest opposition will be your greatest opportunity. (T. D. Jakes)

    1. Don’t listen to negativity. Keep focused: God will cut certain people who will drag you down out of your life. Like on a computer, scroll and delete.

That new iPhone costs $1,449. When I turn on the camera and point it toward the sky, I better see Jesus and his twelve disciples (Facebook comment).

    B. My Story

Every meaning has a message behind it. We just cannot see it yet. Just as a child cannot understand why their parents are doing what they do, how much more that we cannot understand what God is doing in our lives. Puzzle.

    C. My Family’s Story

My wife Joanne was fired from a Christian school back in 2009, one week before Christmas. God took care of us because we had faith, and years later that same school went down—in God’s time, not ours. People in management tried getting rid of me when I was employed by the city because I wasn’t one of their minions and I reported things they didn’t like. God put a shield in front of me (God is my refuge and strength [Psalms]) and protected me as the city (Pharoe) was colluding against me and coming after me day after day for over four years.

God split the sea so I was able to walk through it, and like Moses as Pharaoh was chasing him, and as Pharaoh was chasing me, God knew that time. He split the sea so like Moses I could walk through it. Then he drowned the same management Pharaoh through a lawsuit they never saw coming. God will use the same weapons the enemy was going to use on you. God turned the tables on the enemy and used the same documents they were going to use on getting rid of me. God used it against them in court. He will do the same for you. God used water and turned it into blood to warn Pharaoh to leave his people alone. Pharaoh didn’t listen, so God took Pharaoh to the place where he wanted him and drowned him, giving him another swimming lesson.

Google, your understanding of someone goes hand in hand with wisdom, cannot have one without the other. Read Proverbs chapters 1 to 3. Wisdom is the principal thing, but with all thy getting, get understanding. That’s what our society lacks today—understanding. We think we have wisdom. But without understanding it’s called arrogance. Wisdom is your tool. Understanding is knowing how to use it. What’s the sense of having a certain tool like a saw or screwdriver if you don’t know how to use it.

It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice.

Many young people today have a lot of knowledge but very little wisdom.

    D. Who Defines You?

No one except God. Don’t let people define you. They will try. Want to know about the insides of a building? Talk to the builder, the architect. Want to know yourself? Look to the master builder.

    E. Angels, God’s Secret Agents (Billy Grahm Stories 1 and 2)

Psalms says he will send angels to protect you.

    1. Story of the sick mother and her daughter: This mother was sick, and her daughter went out in the cold to get the town doctor. After he arrived and took care of her, he stated, It was a good thing your daughter came out to get me. You would have been worse by morning. She said, What daughter? She died about six months ago. When the doctor looked in the closet, the same clothes, boots she had on were bone-dry.

    2. The missionaries and the tribe: These missionaries were supposed to be attacked one night in Africa by a tribe. The next morning the leader of the tribe approached the missionaries and said, We were going to attack you, but you had guards many feet high with armor and swords surrounding the camp. The missionary looked puzzled then realized God sent angels to protect them.

    3. Catching a bus late: This lady up north missed a bus walking home from work one evening in the cold/snow. As she waited alone at the bus stop during rush hour, a bus showed up from nowhere, and it was empty except for the driver. When she got in and went to pay, the driver said, No need to pay, it’s already been taken care of. He drove her directly to her home. The next day she called the bus terminal to give a compliment about the driver. They said they didn’t have a bus or driver that fit that number, route, or name.

    4. The dove at the ladies fellowship: About 1976, the only time ever there was a ladies church fellowship at my mom’s house, a pure white dove perched itself right above the front door right before the fellowship started. As the ladies entered and left after midnight, it never flew away. My mom went out about 3:00 a.m., and it was gone. In my over forty years of residing there, I had never seen a dove before and since then. God doesn’t work in coincidences.

    5. The angels in the room: When city management tried to get rid of me years ago at my employment, I advised them I had a swarm of angels protecting me with King Jesus right next to me leading the charge. They looked at me like I was crazy. That’s good. No, that’s God! I asked them, Did you get the memo? They said, What memo, did I miss something? I said Psalm 26:7 and advised that was the memo. I said, This write will be gone in a minute. It was gone in a week.

    6. A friend shared with me he picked this older lady up who needed a ride. She somehow knew his personal circumstances for some reason and gave him advice, which alone was strange. How would she know? He dropped her at the bus stop. A short time later, he drove back to the bus stop where he had dropped her off, and there was no bus stop, no bus sign this time. He drove up and down the street but could not locate any stop. But there was a stop—it wasn’t there anymore.

    F. Tips for Encouragement

Imagine if you pricked your finger. Most of us have done so, and how it hurt, just a paper cut. Now just imagine a crown of thorns jabbed down on your head. He allowed himself to be pierced by a sword, crown of thorns, nails. All to bring us to a spiritual peace and salvation to God. People today use tape and glue to fix things. God used nails.

When the storm arose on the sea, Peter yelled down to Jesus to save them. Jesus was sleeping down below. Jesus knew about the storm and knew they could handle the storm. But they didn’t. God will put you through storms so you can rely on him, not yourself, and he gets all the glory. This will build your character and future testimony for others. You cannot give a testimony unless you have been through a test. You cannot give a message unless you have been in a mess.

Who do you serve? Who is your God? Matthew 6:33 says that you cannot serve two masters. Many people say, Well, I will give God a half hour in the morning, pray and read the Bible, then the rest of the day is for me. Well, unless you have another way of getting oxygen and a heartbeat, brain function, don’t pigeonhole your day. It’s all God’s day. With you. What if you did that with your spouse, friend, children? Then how much more with God?

Many people in life only go into the church when they’re hatched, matched, and dispatched.

Some have tombstones in their closet. Others have graveyards.

A ruler is used to measure, as God’s Word do the same to us. Do you trust a ruler/tape to be accurate? So how are you measured up to God?

A frog in boiling water, how hot does it have to get before she either jumps out or dies? The same way with your sin.

In the cemetery there is no rich or poor. Everyone is equal.

The worst gift is a fruit cake. There is only one fruit cake in the entire world, and people keep sending it to each other. (Johnny Carson TV Comedian)

I work in government. I have never seen a memo where on the bottom it reads, Do you agree with this memo? I have a memo for you. The Bible doesn’t either.

Man set up religion. God set up relationships. Everyone wants to go their own way, but they all want to go one way. If you’re not saved, you will be going one way all right. Straight to hell. There the judge will not give you a ticket. It would burn up anyway.

You are what you think, all day long. (RWE)

Resolve issues with your brother in Christ. If you are not resolving differences with anyone, you are not in a good relationship with God. God wants a relationship, not a religion, not a denomination, not to do things because of an ordinance. He wants everything you do to be through a relationship. Do you treat your friends and family like it’s something I have to do, like a bother? Is God any different?

You cannot worry about things you have no control over, like people/death.

You power up your cell phone and use it, gas up your vehicle and use it, wear clothes made by man and use it. How about your heart charged up by God, do you use it? For his glory, not yours. Or else you might as well be a mannequin with no self, no purpose. God has given you a purpose. We’re all on assignment. What’s yours? We are used to doing them throughout our life, at school, work, personal. How about the most important assignment? What do you do for the Lord that will last for eternity?

The same things the enemy used against you will be the same things God will use against the enemy (T. D. Jakes, sermon Goliath Is at the Gate).

We live life to accumulate as much as we can then find out it’s never enough and that Jesus Christ alone is the only one that can fulfill our heart.

God will make beauty from your ashes. May your choices affect your hopes, not your fears. God whispers in our pleasures and shouts in our pain (C. S. Lewis). People say, Why does God cause pain? I ask you, Why don’t you experience pain in your pleasure? Do you ever question God on that? People were questioning Job about his God causing him to lose so much, his family, his business, his health. Job said in Job 2:10, 11, I can have the beauty of God, and not have adversity.

Pain is progress. It’s the sharpening of God’s tool for his ultimate purpose to make you more like him. Realize it was good that you were afflicted. It builds your trust in God and not yourself. It makes you stronger to face tougher battles, builds your character. Children who were raised the old-fashioned way, not the new age parenting where you want to be their friend and afraid of discipline. Those children fare much better when they go into the real world in later years. God has old-fashioned discipline. It’s like trying to complain about the weather.

God is in control, not you. Trust him. He knows what he is doing. He is doing a pretty good job so far, would you say? David frost once said, Before I build a wall, I want to know what I’m holding up or holding in. God is the builder, and he knows what he is doing, been doing since time began. A parent knows a little more than the child, would you agree? The child doesn’t understand their world. Then if a child doesn’t understand, and we are his children, how are we going to as well? And you can times that understanding by infinity. People learn better from the pain than from the pleasure. Being out of God’s circle of love and protection is like being on the sea with no compass. Solomon said it’s like chasing the wind.

The next time you feel like you’re broken apart, look inside a kaleidoscope. It’s broken apart, yet there is beauty within.

A boy walked down the road with his father listening to the different sounds of birds, and then the father said, What do you hear now? The lad said, I hear a wagon. The father said, It’s empty. The son said, How do you know? We cannot see it. The father said, I don’t have to. I can tell by the noise it makes.

The emptier the wagon, the more sound it makes. When a person talks too much, bragging about what he does and belittling others, they are like the wagon—the emptier it is, the more noise it makes. I also call them empty suits. Nothing inside.

From Jesus’s day the liberals haven’t changed. All they have gone is from sandals to suits.

Man is the only one that blushes, or he needs to. (Mark Twain)

A child is in a toy car steering, but who is in control? The parent behind them. God is in control no matter where you turn. Rely on him, not yourself. We are his child sitting in the car seat, trying to give directions and how to drive to our parents. Advise them how to do their taxes, etc. Sit back and enjoy the ride. Let God drive. He knows what he is doing. We go on an airplane, a train, get an operation, get a doctor’s, attorney’s guidance. Do we question the professional as to their credentials and operations? You say no.

Well, why do we question God’s? We put our trust in them, God should be even more. I never met anyone complaining about their heartbeat, oxygen, brain function, blood circulation. You trust him for that. He’s doing a pretty good job, you would say. Then as you trust him for the sunrise and sunset, trust him for your personal life.

Stop going to hordes of people for your direction. See the chairman. Do for others, not yourself (1 John 4:8, 9). It’s easier to be kind to people you like, but God doesn’t want that. He wants you to seek the lost, the ones who hurt and despised you. That’s the true test. Forgive and forget. Remember, you may be the closest one that they will hear the gospel from and get saved. A lady once told me she would forgive me but she wouldn’t forget. I said, Would you want Jesus to do the same for you?

A lady was having her daughter’s birthday party in the park one day, and when it was over, I asked her how it went. She said, It went great, except my ex-husband was there with his girlfriend (the same one who broke up the marriage). She said she felt bad, seeing her especially. I couldn’t side with her. I advised that was a great thing. She looked at me like I had two heads. I said, Jesus wants you to get close to them, not run away. You can be a witness for Jesus to her. It’s not about you. It’s about him.

It’s always about Jesus. When we take us out of the equation and don’t go tit for tat and substitute Jesus, we understand life is not about us—it’s about him. Then anyone getting a promotion, trying to hurt you, shouldn’t bother you, because life is not about you. You don’t control your destiny, your oxygen, your heartbeat, etc. What makes you think you control anything else? Jesus hung around the lame, weak, sick, downtrodden, the outcast, the heathen. The Pharisees, Sadducees, and the scribes had a problem with Jesus, questioning him why he was hanging out with those people. Jesus advised he was supposed to. That was his mission, as it is yours.

Don’t hold on to life too tightly. Like holding on to a wet bar of soap too tight, it slips out. Life without God is like trying to climb a ladder with no steps, or trying to pick up milk on the floor with gloves.

God knows my name. (Isa. 53 and 43)

He will protect me. (Isa. 41)

What’s the landscape of the people that you hang out with? Do they encourage you, give good criticism to build you up, not to tear you down? Or do they give you softball questions as not to offend you? Hang out with people that do good and who are better than you, mainly not a better person, but who you can learn from.

A friend in need is a friend in deed.

You will take a lifetime to build respect, a minute to lose it.

Humility is to make a right estimate of oneself. (Charles Spurgeon)

You go to the auto dealership, mechanic, doctor. Ask what’s the problem, what’s the estimate, what’s the prescription for the pain? Have you asked for God’s estimate of you?

    Thought for Today

I gave you $10. He gave you $20. You felt he was better just because he gave you more. But he had $200. All I had was $10 (Facebook).

It’s better to be a half hour early than one minute late.

God uses the opposites of what man thinks or does. God told Moses to pick up the rod/stick when it was turned into a snake. The Israelites touched a statue made in the likeness of a snake after they had gotten bitten by snakes and died. Today if you get bitten by a snake, they use antivenom to help cure you. God will have you confront your problem, your adversity, not run from it. He used a shepherd boy to be king. He said unless you’re like a child you cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. God is not interested in our outward appearance, our trophies, awards, degrees, social stature, not in the print in our life’s journal. But only in the white space around it.

Would you lay down your life for someone else? God did it for you.

Think about all the time in a day you talk to various people around you. How much of that is spent talking to God? The only one giving you the heartbeat (cell charge).

Did you ever see people fold their arms and say I have a problem with him/her? I tell them God has a problem with you. Remember God forgave you.

The same people that are talking bad about other people and God are the same ones that are renting God’s mouth, voice, ears, eyes, and hands to do this work. When the people were saying to Job, Your God did all this bad stuff to you, he lost almost everything, Job said in chapter 2:11, 11, I can I have to beauty of things, and not have adversity.

A coin has two sides. It’s the bad that brings us closer for reliance to him, not the good. Does a parent want their child to depend on them? Do they want them to fight their own battles? Well, we’re his children—why do we fight our own? Let go, and let God be God. I never met a person who likes being micromanaged at work, so why do we micromanage God? He’s at work. Let him work. God is always on his time (not ours), and he is always on time.

We get so busy we don’t hear God, but we hear people. Both ears for people, any ears left for God? Think of all the people you speak to on a daily basis on your cell phone, face-to-face, through email, letter. How many times do you speak to God? I don’t mean a quick prayer and reading and off you go. God doesn’t want a religion but a relationship. You have them with all kinds of people around you—family, friends, coworkers, yet the only one who powers your heart up is the last one you have a relationship with. Why?

I cannot tell my wife Joanne that I can only see her on Sundays from eleven to one, and Tuesday and Thursday from six to eight. She would have a problem with that. We don’t do that with loved ones around us. Why do we do that with God?

God uses the people we least expect to fulfill his purpose. Look at President Trump and all the adversity he went through, but God brought him through it. He will not put you as a part in his mission and not bring you through it. Here a nobody that the demon-crats and bad Republicans hated because he cleaned the swamp of all the country club filth. Jesus was like that. He was outcasted because he brought light to the religious leaders in that day, like President Trump does to our nation, to the world. Anytime you show the light, darkness will not like that.

God has blessed us since we went eight years of blank space in the presidency preceding that. Pretty much blank upstairs in the head along with much of his Congress supporters and government leaders, five-watt light bulbs. We want to see Jesus in our own eyes as that blond-haired figure on the ceiling, but Jesus was tough on the religious leaders who thought who were they? He told the truth even if it offended people. People today shy away saying, We want to keep the peace. There is no real peace. You’re just putting a Band-Aid on a problem, which will get worse. There are two kinds of people that will tell you the truth: your friends and your enemies. If you cannot accept the truth from your friends, how will you from your enemies? (Dr. Jasmin Sculark).

Genesis 2/21 anesthesia, it’s in the Bible, the law of gravity (Job 26:7). The Bible wasn’t made to teach science, but it’s scientifically correct. Sir Isaac Newton should have looked at his Bible while he was sitting under that apple tree.

Don’t be isolated, but insulated. (Vance Habner)

My friend, the battle is not yours. It doesn’t mean you don’t have to show up for the fight, but you are not using God to win your battle. He is using you to win his. Remember it’s not about you. It’s about him. If you fight your own battle, then God says, Why do I need to step in and fight for you? He will let you learn on your own (T. D. Jakes).

A parent doesn’t want their child to fight their own battles, so why do we fight ours? You’re his child. Even Jesus didn’t say much, like one or two words to Pilate, not many words, pretty much silent at the cross. He knew who his backup quarterback was. Do you? Don’t have to say much, let God do the talking.

Your current state will pass, and you will look back and laugh—why was I worried?

God has a plan for you. He is not done with you yet.

Do you have a part-time God? There are no benefits. We put God many times on the sideline as our cheerleader, but we forget there is a second word in there—leader. We don’t say cheerfollower.

Don’t wait until you get the blessing to praise. The key is to praise through it, the steps. It’s not the degree you get at the end. It’s the process through it. God is not interested in the paper but the process. The Romans tried crowning him before he was ready. Then he disappeared. It wasn’t until they put him on the cross that the crown came.

Keep pressing forward climbing that ladder, or people will pass you up.

At the Christmas Eve service at my church, the pastor, quizzing some children about the nativity, asked, What gifts did the three wise men give the Christ child? Gold! one child yelled. Frankincense! shouted another. After a pause, a third asked, Gift cards? (Readers’ Digest).

You charge your cell phone, use a wall or car charger. You get gas in your vehicle and you use them all. How about your heart, who charges that? And you don’t even need a wall or car charger. How often do you use it for God (your relationship), not for yourself? By the way, you don’t even have to return your heart like you do your cell to Apple every two
