    The Story Line

God is the Omniscient One. He knows about everything, that which is actual or possible. Hence God has foreknowledge of everything especially His purposes and plans for every individual person He created. All these are done for his own pleasure and purpose.

The plans of God for humankind are unfolded with time. In His own time, God makes all things beautiful as stated in scripture. The time when certain special divine events are planned (or meant) to take place is described as the Set Time.

God holds the key to all the volume of plans for each one of us and He makes the choice to reveal them step by step by His divine Timetable. However, it is our responsibility to discover God’s timing and the scheduled events so that we work along with Him to bring these plans into fruition.

To know about the set time and its agenda, we must pass the test of character and faith at each phase. When we discover the set time and its agenda, we must adopt an attitude which could help us to achieve those pre-planned purposes of God for our lives. The unique attitude we need to adopt is described as the Flint Face attitude.

In this book the flint face is described as a concept because it is derived from the study of the lifestyle of Jesus on earth. As our perfect example, He adopted the stance of an ardent desire and non-subjugated resolve, to fight off the odds to go to Jerusalem at such a time that He was to ascend to the highest glory ever (Luke 9:51)

When Jesus went to Jerusalem, He overcame the most overwhelming reception ever as the King of the Jews but obliged His Father’s will for His crucifixion. The ultimate glory materialized after His burial and resurrection. The brave attitude He put forth which was the result of His undaunted ardent desire and steadfast resolve was the picture of the Flint Face concept.

Suffice it to say that the set time and its agenda were revealed to Jesus because before His incarnation it was prophesied by Isaiah in chapter 50: 7 – 11, yet He was responsible for its discovery and be dedicated to it.

Scriptures reveal that Jesus passed the test of character and faith throughout His entire life on earth, just as a human like any one of us; thereby, setting up the standard for all to follow. Hence His victory should motivate every one of us to aspire to do the same. Yes, we can.

The thrust of the book is to challenge every Christian to follow the master’s footsteps to achieve similar feats for themselves at the set time by the practical applications of His examples. This in fact is collaborated by the stories of biblical characters such as Ruth, Elijah, Abraham, and others.

The consequence of failing to capture the set time and its agenda is also demonstrated by the story of Saul, the first king of Israel. He lost His throne at the set time God had scheduled for its entrenchment for his posterity. King Saul lost his throne to David because, for being inclined to pleasing men instead of God, he could not wait for God to accomplish His purpose through him.

As a special package, the author shares his profound thoughts about the subject of fruitfulness as the general expectation of God for our lives. As clear as it stands, fruitfulness gives enough evidence and hope to all and sundry; so that if somebody could not relate to the set time and flint face concept, the same person would be awakened to embrace it.

    Gratitude

O God who am I that you have chosen me to be your mouthpiece? I want to praise you aloud and openly for putting this message in my spirit to share with your people.

I do not claim any piece of this book, everything is yours because it came from you; I am just your messenger. Forgive me Lord if I missed any point but fulfill it anyhow in the heart of all your readers.

Thank you, Lord, again for Mabel my spouse and my beautiful children. They stood with me all along and even gave up their comfort to produce this book. Thank you for their lives. My family is such a great blessing and my inspiration.

Thank you for using Bishop Kirby Clements who prophesied the confirmation of this assignment laid on me to bless the body of Christ. May you continually pour fresh anointing on him always. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

This book is dedicated to Rev Dr David Franklin Asante and Mrs. Grace Asante both of Joywood Bridge of Hope Church A/G (Nashville, USA) who at the set time graciously provided the most conducive environment to complete this assignment to the body of Christ

    Acknowledgement

To God be the glory for the great things he has done to the body of Christ. I would like to acknowledge the gargantuan contributions of Professor Albert Wright of United Methodist Church, Arlington, DC (USA) towards the completion of this book.

He did the onerous jobs of the editing and proof reading as well as the invaluable commentary on this piece of work. I have no words to thank him enough except to use his own words acknowledged here:

I know it was by God’s grace and I consider this as my service to God at the set time.

I acknowledge the simplicity and the down to earth nature of my Christian friend, the gentleman and scholar. God led him to me at the set time and he put up with flint face attitude to do what he did. We share this accomplishment together.

I thank the organizers of GET MOTIVATED SEMINAR, which was organized free of charge at the Bridgestone Arena, Nashville, Tennessee, USA in 2011.

From this conference materials, I culled the information about Money Strategies and how to be organized for effective production written by a staff writer; and how to establish instant rapport by Jonathan Benz.

    Foreword

This book introduces the reader to the concepts of the set time and the flint face used by people of faith in biblical history.

In Ephesians 2:10, we read that we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do; again, in 1 Corinthians 12:4 - 6 we read that there are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. These verses tell us that every Christian is unique and (is) gifted by God for a special mission (or special missions) in life.

This timely book by Rev. Thomas Mensah tells us that for each of such unique divine assignments, there is a set time for its fulfillment and once the time has arrived, we must pursue the fulfillment with a flint face attitude, as did Christ Himself and as did other people of faith found in the Bible.

To buttress his point, Rev. Mensah describes how the divine mission of Christ was defined for Him by God, the Father, before His incarnation. He tells us how Christ embarked on different aspects of His earthly mission when the set time for each arrived. One such set time occurred when He received the Holy Spirit at His baptism by John the Baptist. Another was His ascension, described in Luke 24:50 - 51, which is presented as the climax of His earthly assignment.

Before this ascension, Jesus fulfilled His redemptive death on the cross. At each level, in fulfilling His assignment, Christ adopted the flint face attitude, particularly on His last journey to Jerusalem (Luke 9:51) which was also predicted in Isaiah 50:7.

This book also tells us of how the disciples followed the master’s footsteps: their assignments were defined for them both as individuals and collectively by Jesus through the Great Commission. The set time for these assignments occurred on the day of Pentecost when they received power, as promised by Christ, enabling them to start witnessing boldly for Him immediately in Jerusalem, and subsequently in Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. With flint face attitudes, the disciples continued to preach the gospel to the four corners of the world even in the face of persecutions in a fiery manner which has never been equaled since then.

The book also tells us about Paul whose assignment was revealed to him by Ananias who prayed for him to receive his sight, following a personal encounter with Christ on his journey to Damascus to persecute Christians. Though Paul started witnessing to Christ soon afterwards, it was later in his testimony before King Agrippa (Acts 26:16–18) that the full extent of his divine assignment was revealed, as described below:

Now get up and stand on your feet. I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant and as a witness of what you have seen of me and what I will show you. I will rescue you from your own people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to them to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.

Paul staked his life to this great task displaying the flint face attitude throughout his life, during which he suffered uncountable difficulties. Present day Christians are expected to follow these men of faith in the pursuit of their divine assignments.

This book on The Set Time and the Flint Face provides a unique insight and an opportunity to become familiar with the concepts of the set time and the flint face which other people of faith (like Abraham, Elijah, and
