Introduction
This book is first and foremost about the stage that a woman is on and its environment that captures a rising star in the making as she launches from the platform. I have followed the paths of these rising stars as pageant contestants from their initial competition into the spotlight of Hollywood glamour. I have had amazing access backstage, during pageant competitions all the way to red carpet flashing lights from photographers. I have been in a salon full of Miss USA contestants as the sole photographer and journalist, which was an experience that I will never forget.
I am a journalist. I have been to over 80 conferences / events, since 1998. I have won sixty (60) awards throughout my life in the areas of fine art (10), athletic (1), photography (8), journalism (10), screenwriting (21), production / producing (2), and Who’s Who (8) honors. I like to break events apart analyzing their marketing, logistics, and overall themes. I love to learn about the most successful ideas in business, entertainment, music, and technology, which led to the creation of The Journal for Innovation (www.tjfi.net). Most of the articles I have written about pageantry are on the website and will be used herein to reveal this analysis of pageant marketing, logistics along with themes. The root goal of this work is to reveal the best path to enter pageantry along with all its rewards if you shall win.
All women within pageantry are winners no matter their struggles as they are promoting their platform on a platform with platforms on revealing their favorable heart and mind. I know firsthand as my cousin Kovena Avila was selected as Miss Santa Barbara County 2008 on her first pageant competition attempt. Kovena was overjoyed with her win and used her scholarship to graduate from University of La Verne with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology. Kovena became a police officer and is now an Investigator with the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s office.
I grew up as an artist creating realistic pencil drawings of horses, landscapes, and beautiful women. I have won many awards in art, which prompted me to attend Otis College of Art & Design for fashion illustration and fine art. I have always wanted to become a fashion designer and eventually a talent manager. I received my bachelors of science in business administration (BSBA) degree from Capella University, and master of business administration (MBA) in finance degree from Aspen University, which sharpened my entrepreneurial mind. I have always believed mixing business with art creates the right kind of business executive to run a movie studio like Disney. I decided to analyze the pageant industry from a perimeter standpoint to an internal interview approach.
I believe I have gathered enough knowledge to complete this case study. There are still many questions I want answered, which will develop further
