    Hardcore Spirituality - Robin Sacredfire

    Maturing as an Earthly Spirit

When I was working with children and saw one hiding from the rest of the group, I always rushed to see what he or she could be doing, worried for their safety. And then, their reaction was always something like, my mother doesn't let me play with sticks, or the other kids don't like me.

Now, what is interesting about this story, is that it prevails, thirty, sixty, or even seventy years later, in many adults that seem to have never grown beyond their childlike vision of reality. The only difference is that, at this point, they find many others telling them that such stick is powerful and the seekers of the stick philosophy are special individuals. And to witness this, is as sadly dramatic as it is hilariously shocking. I really tend to feel trapped between laughing, feeling sad for them and feeling confused about myself for being among them.

I once attended a Buddhist meeting in which the speaker was telling the audience a bunch of nonsense mixed with everything you can imagine. Most people tend to say, at least, one truth, when mixing different topics, but when they don’t, it is shocking. And in this case, this woman said a bunch of nonsense about Asian people that made it obvious she was never in Asia, not even as a tourist. She also said so many dumb things about Buddhism that I couldn't stop wondering if she ever read any Buddhist book during her entire life.

There are people that don’t understand what they read, as many school students, and then assume they do, and use their authority to impose fake values on others, as many teachers do. But there are others, who make things much worse than that. And in this case, I didn't know if I should get up to call her liar, stupid and deceiver of the masses, leave in front of all these happy children, and make myself look like the idiot in the group, or just swallow that vast amount of ignorance within me. But I painfully did the last thing in compassion for the ones listening with smiles in their face and taking notes of that trash.

You see, most people are too old to be so dumb, but also too old to go back in their state. One woman in this group, in her 70s, even said she had learned amazing things that have enlightened her. I guess that she must have felt as a Shanghainese citizen, when witnessing the sunshine during a Saturday afternoon, after spending a whole week under a dark gray cloud composed of a thick fog of highly toxic pollution. Anything seems extraordinary for a very poor mind. It reminds me also of one of my girlfriends, when she said to me I can’t believe I am managing my own business, after I literally offered it to her. Now, this was only one of the many businesses that I have built in a matter of days. So, for me, her surprise was equivalent to mine, in the sense that it made me wonder if she saw me as a real person. Because most don’t. Other girlfriends used to make me angry for weeks, just to finally get a chance to say, See, I knew you were fake, because nobody was ever so nice to me.

People do build the reality in which they live. I don’t fall any longer into the poor me, I was born in a poor environment and had no education, type of speech, because the truth is that people may not be responsible for their circumstances but they are certainly responsible for what they do with their opportunities, and something that a very poor mind won’t ever admit, even to herself, is that she has wasted dozens and dozens of good opportunities to change her circumstances, starting from the moment in which reincarnation begun. Yes, if we go deep enough, in the vast amount of responsibility a being can handle, we will eventually reach the spiritual level. And nobody is truly spiritual, until this person can admit full responsibility for their spiritual choices. In this sense, an opportunity to ignore the ignorant, is, as well, an opportunity that many waste. For it is as important to recognize an opportunity to learn and grow, as it is to recognize a trap, that will delay our progress as a spirit. Whoever ignores the ignorance of others, deserves to die an ignorant. And that is why, in that situation, upon seeing the smiles of others, their enthusiasm for a stupid idiot vomiting her delusional ego on the masses, I said nothing. There was nothing I could do about it, not even to make me feel better, except witness the show in front of me, and write it here, so that others, more awaken, i.e., you, can benefit from my insights.

The Road to Freedom from Falsehoods

I am often labeled a negative person for saying truths like the one I'm about to say now and that few want to hear. And yet, the fact is that the promise of sunshine in a Saturday at noon doesn't erase the cancerous effects of breathing toxic air for a whole week, which kills an average of 70 thousand citizens a year in Shanghai alone. You see, the citizens of Shanghai, just like the vast majority of the citizens of the world that absorb religious falsehoods and neglect their problems, want to focus on the promise of sunshine in an afternoon, while criticizing any outsider telling them the truth and labeling such individual as negative or stupid. And, nevertheless, the promise of one day a week of spiritual fresh air, traps them in the constant lie that destroys them both spiritually and physically.

Obviously, as the younger in a spiritual group, the minority, I am almost always seen as the stupid one. So, when people show me their hypocritical smile and ask have you understood?, I feel quite pathetic about them. But this is what I think they need to hear: You believe in reincarnation, right? Now, imagine I was among the first followers of Buddha and have just witnessed you vomiting from your mouth the rhythm of our true philosophy. Imagine I tell you that I'm going to imitate you speaking and then all I do is vomit rotten food! That is how I feel, offended to the bones, when I hear ignorance being spread in such abundance and with such arrogance.

I still remember to have tried to show how pathetic a group of friends was when they invited me to travel six hours by car to attend a meeting with an, in their own words, avatar coming from India. During the two days we were there, I witnessed hundreds of people singing and playing instruments, and others looking at the man as if they were in the presence of Christ reincarnated. And that asshole, on the other hand, just had to smile and pretend he was holy. That second class actor, didn’t speak a single word, until one moment, in the second day, in which I guess he was bored with himself and told us a pathetic story, that is as mainstream as simple: A priest and a woman were trying to cross a river, but the woman could and the priest couldn't, because she had faith, and that’s why she could walk over the water.

Personally, I prefer speakers that share some funny moments of their life or their interpretation of a movie they saw. It is much more useful than this show of ignorance. I traveled six hours in a smelly car with people snoring, paid an hotel and waited hours on the floor, with my back hurting, as, apparently, being spiritual in current times means not sitting in a chair, to hear that story. But, if he was an avatar, then I must be an reincarnated super god and almighty king of one thousand galaxies.

I felt a huge impulse coming from within to get up, go to him and say: You are a fake and this is just a big circus, but please try me, and prove me wrong if you can. But what would I accomplish with that? I did try to help my friends realize how insane they are but do you think they listened? They got offended and never invited me again to such events. One of those friends suffers from diabetes, and when I asked him what the guru had told him in private, he answered drink water and have faith. And then proceeded to blame me for not trusting that and not having enough faith.

I tried to help this friend understand that a balanced diet based on raw vegetables and working on his emotional issues can help in reversing diabetes, but he accused me of being lunatic, as diabetes, according to him, has no cure.

Now, isn’t this truly interesting? Some random idiot with long hair dressed in pajamas tells him to drink water with faith and he agrees that this is the right solution. I tell him to let his body cure his disease with the right diet, and to work on his emotional issues, and he calls me crazy. Maybe such experiences are what justified Sigmund Freud saying, I have found little that is 'good' about human beings on the whole. In my experience most of them are trash, no matter whether they publicly subscribe to this or that ethical doctrine or to none at all.

There is another element even more dramatic to this story: This friend is a nurse. And so, indeed, we must acknowledge that the spiritual awakening is not for everyone.

    What an Illusion Truly is

Whenever I worked with children and told them, kids, you've been lied, 2 plus 2 is 5, and not 4, they were shocked and would ask me to explain. When I tried to explain, they could always see I was deceiving them, because there was no logic in my explanation. And so, at some point, I had succeeded in moving them from the dogma to the understanding of things. And yet, I tried the same with adults and it never worked. Many even attacked me, saying, no, you are wrong, you have no faith, go away.

I have even done the same using their own books. Yes, that's correct, I could pick one of their books and show them the quotes, saying look, this is what the founder of your religion said, and they still would not care.

It is really unbelievable. It is as if I didn't have the right to interpret the leader's words better than them. It's as if they couldn't agree with a statement like, "look, 2 plus 2 isn't 5; you think it is, everyone here thinks it is, but the
