About this ebook

This is the fourth book in the seven-book series under the title “MYSTICISM IN NEWBURYPORT.” As you will see, there is a theme based on the number SEVEN that runs all through the stories and Peter’s life. Each book in the seven-book series contains seven lighthearted tales from Peter’s life. Peter shares his experience, strength, and hope from his unique life. Peter’s early, wild years in the sixties were full of heavy alcoholic consumption, excessive sixties drug use, violence, arrests, broken bones, motorcycle riding, and endless hours in the gym. At nineteen years old, after seven years of alcoholic drinking, Peter crawled into the 12-step recovery program and began his journey into the spiritual realm. Almost immediately on entering the program, Peter had a spiritual awakening. Many years later, in the little historic seaport town of Newburyport, Massachusetts, Peter was to have a profound spiritual awakening in the form of a powerful “Kundalini Experience.” With this awakening the inner spiritual realms opened wide, and Peter was rocketed into a new world of health, happiness, and prosperity. Past life experiences and vivid visions became a daily occurrence. Unknowingly, Peter had connected with an ancient lineage of Meditation Masters whose energy was infused into Peter, changing his spiritual state and evolution forever. The secrets of the inner world were all revealed. At the same time, Peter was to discover all the hidden secrets of this quaint little historic seaport. To honor this town of Newburyport for being the place of Peter’s spiritual awakening, he has used the name in the title for his books. When asked what the books were about, Peter said he only had one thought: “Mysticism.” Peter shares the great times he had during this seven-year period with the great people, an abundance of Nature, and enjoying continuous insights and spiritual experiences. Peter hopes you enjoy his simple book of tales…

Peter James Ford

Peter James Ford, The Unlikely Messenger, is a unique individual with a broad understanding of life from having lived life from many lifestyles. Peter experienced the good, the bad, the ugly, and then an awakening and redemption. His younger years found him struggling with alcoholism and the drugs of the sixties, with having learning disabilities, including attention deficit disorder, and growing up in a violent environment. Peter turned to physical training and motorcycles and found much satisfaction in both. At an early age Peter crawled into the 12-step recovery program a broken man. This was the beginning of Peter’s spiritual journey. Over the years, Peter attained the promises of the program and began living a great life. Many years later, Peter was initiated into a yogic path that had begun thousands of years ago by an ancient lineage of Masters. Peter did not realize that his profound spiritual experience at that time was actually a powerful “Kundalini Awakening” within him. Shortly after his awakening, these mystic tales of past lives and powerful wisdom truths began flowing. Peter has just completed his seventh book about his life adventures and spiritual journey. Peter hopes people find something useful in his writings, or at least that they will bring a smile to your face when thinking about Peter, this “Unlikely Messenger.”

    Ritchie S.

    (An unlikely messenger)

It is interesting how we can just block something that was a traumatic or painful experience and never think about it again for years. Back in the sixties, I had a friend named Ritchie. Ritchie was a complex character. He was a golden gloves fighter, a real sincere seeker, a heroin addict, and someone that was traveling to Mexico and Haight Ashbury, in San Francisco. I had a hard enough time just getting down the street to the high school while Ritchie was traveling all over the country and into Mexico, too. We were an unlikely friendship as I really hated the heroin addicts. They were a different breed of animal from the alcoholic or the sixties drugs user. They had no code that they lived by and could not be trusted. So, it puzzled me, until late one night, it was answered. We had been driving through Lynn Woods late one night while I was drinking and Richie was nodding on the heroin, riding the dragon. Somewhere high on a hill in the deepest part of the woods we parked, and I continued drinking. I had consumed a quart and a half of tequila so far that night along with numerous pills and other sixties drugs. It was about three o’clock in the morning and I was still standing but I was not far from passing out or even overdosing. I was blind drunk and on top of that stoned on drugs. Then Ritchie began telling me about this book he had begun reading. Ritchie said: The book talked about being in a powerful river and going with the flow. That was all he said. I completely sobered up and I had a clear vision of a black book with a big red circle in the middle. The book was surrounded in golden light; of course, that might have been from the LSD I had taken some time during the night. I stood there for a few moments, as sober as I am right now, and I clearly saw the cover of that book, which turned out to be the original version of THE TIBETAN BOOK OF THE DEAD. A few moments later, I collapsed, and I did not wake up until the next day. I forgot all about seeing this book. A few weeks later, I was with Richie again drinking and drugging like usual. I was to leave and not long after Richie was said to have shot himself in the belly. He lay for hours in agony and then he put a bullet in his head and ended his pain at eighteen years old. The events of that night were kind of shadowy and I am not sure what the truth was of what happened. They ruled it a suicide. I guess I will never know. I guess it caught me off guard with him taking his life.

I do know one thing and that was that I never acknowledged his death until thirty years later when I was sober in the 12-step program. I was speaking at a meeting, and I began talking of losing my friend many years earlier. I wondered how I could have just pretended it never happened. Around the same time, I had witnessed someone shot through the neck, bleed out and die before me and I felt nothing. But Ritchie’s death was different. I did not suppress seeing the other shooting, as I felt no feelings to suppress. Like usual, I felt nothing. I was void of any feelings. I was dead inside. My heart had closed at an early age, and I never felt anything for anyone. I could have easily become an emotionless hitman or a serial killer. I seemed to have acquired the knowledge about taking care of business somewhere along the line. But for some reason I could not even acknowledge what happened with Ritchie. Somehow I felt a sense of being responsible. I had a helpless feeling for somehow letting it happen. For some reason, I cared about his death…

So the night I spoke at the recovery meeting thirty years later, I finally acknowledged and hopefully accepted his death. It was my beginning process to heal from this loss.

The saying that Some come only for a season, but all come for a reason is so true for me with the short time I knew Richie. We met at the Catholic Church and ended up in a fight in the sanctuary passageway. Richie liked me as I held my own, fighting him. Not many lasted standing toe to toe with Richie. He was a natural fighter, a golden gloves champ.

Ritchie was to be the unlikely messenger that reawakened me in this lifetime.

Richie’s words that night about the book he was reading powerfully affected me and even caused past life experiences. But, like Richie’s death, I did not think about it for almost forty years, until I began writing my first book. I was leaving the coffee shop in Newburyport, and I suddenly remembered that night in 1968. For some reason, the name THE TIBETAN BOOK OF THE DEAD came into my consciousness. I began searching and the first book I found was THE TIBETAN BOOK OF LIVING AND DYING, written by Sogyal Rinpoche in 1992. It was a great book that I enjoyed, but it was not the book that I was searching for. I was to find a few versions of THE TIBETAN BOOK OF THE DEAD, but none that resembled my vision.

One night, I was at the meditation group at Martha’s house. A sweetheart of a woman who originally was helping me with the editing of the stories in my first book. I shared with her my frustration to find the exact cover image of the book that I had seen in 1968. She said: Wait a minute, and disappeared into her private library. She came back into the room and pulled a book from behind her back and revealed it to me. The book had a black cover with a big red circle in the middle. It was the original translation of THE TIBETAN BOOK OF THE DEAD.

I was to find that someone else shared my fascination with this book. It was Carl Jung. After Carl had read this book it became his constant companion. Carl was an amazingly evolved person who was open to merging Western thought with the Eastern wisdom. Carl spoke highly of the 12-step recovery program for alcoholics. Carl said: It is kind of interesting how we call alcohol SPIRITS. I loved Carl’s writings and I am following in his footsteps with writing about symbols. My humble insights don’t compare with this amazing teacher and master.

Well, I humbly dedicate this book to a great friend and a sincere seeker.

Big Thanks to Richie for playing his part on my journey…

Dave, Myself, and My Keystone Chopper

    image01.jpg

Many years ago I went with my friend, Big Chris, to Hard Nocks Gym in Amesbury, Massachusetts. Dave Nock created this gym in 1960. The oldest running gym in New England. Dave was a U.S. Marine, an Amesbury Police Officer, bodybuilder, and an all-around great guy who supported and helped many people. Dave did not care what your past was but treated everyone fairly. There were basic rules of respect for the gym and for the people that trained there, but that was the extent of the rules. Simply having respect for others and treating others fairly was all that was asked. I was to find men and women that still had a code of honor and a simple code of life that they lived by. I found the most standup people that I had ever come across. This gym was a magical place for reaching your full potential in whatever sport you were training for.

I was to reach my peak and I still maintain it into my seventies from training at this unique and exceptional gym. In high school, I was a drugged out, drunken fool with a small frame and I only weighed 140 pounds. I ended up in the 12-step recovery program at nineteen years old. After getting sober, I began training a full range of weights, boxing, and martial arts. I gained much strength and size over the years before coming to the Hard Nocks Gym. I have to say that I reached my fullest potential while training at Hard Nocks. I reached 210 pounds and my hands were as fast as a middle-weight boxer’s hands. Dave provided an atmosphere that I felt safe, and I could explore the insights for my martial arts training that were coming to me. I learned to become the conduit for this energy that they call Chi. On a lesser level than Bruce Lee, but in the same way, I had tapped into this inner energy called Kundalini and my speed, my power and my movements went to new heights.

I now knew that "The master was the one who had mastered not doing it." I was experiencing this unlimited energy flowing through me in fight moves that I had not learned in this lifetime. I would train on the heavy bag with punches, elbows, knees, and kicks for hours and I was never tired. I was flying on this Kundalini Energy. I had written elsewhere that I was not aware that the energy that was empowering my physical workouts was the same as the energy that was fueling my meditations and past life experiences. It was only when I heard the Sadguru explain how the Kundalini Awakening was not only the most powerful but was also the most dangerous. You really need a master to guide you with this awakening. There are different ways to use and direct this powerful, awakened power. If you use it in a certain way for powerful physical expressions, as I was, it can be harmful. He mentioned that people that misuse the Kundalini Energy usually die young, as Bruce Lee did. The more I learn about these ancient secrets I am even more grateful as I have received so many of them. I don’t take any credit for anything that has happened to me, as I always give all the credit to God and Grace. There is but one force in this entire universe that expresses through us.

This gym in Amesbury was the next town over from Newburyport where I was having profound spiritual experiences and insights. Many powerful influences came into my life at this time. Dave’s daughter-in-law, married to my great friend Erik, was a beautiful Native American woman and a powerful healer living a very spiritual way of life. I was to do many healing sessions with Alyssa, and she freed me of baggage that I just could not get free of any other way. Alyssa studied with one of the last Paiute Medicine Men from Western U.S. She worked miracles in my life and with my healings. She opened my heart in ways I had never experienced.

In my first book I have a tale dedicated to Alyssa and called:

    WHITE FEATHER, MY PRIMARY PHYSICIAN.

    IMG_1024.jpg75027.png

In my first book MYSTICISM IN NEWBURYPORT in this seven-book series I wrote a tale of my experiences with this exceptional family, great friends from this gym. I called this tale THE SCHOOL OF HARD NOCKS.

    IMG_1023.jpg75032.png

This gym was full of the best people, and I made so many great friendships. The Cena Brothers trained at this gym. Matt, Dan, and John were a great example of the kind of people from this gym. In the movie THE LAST SAMURAI they spoke of a lost quality of HONOR. I was to experience this sense of honor with the people at this gym. John Cena began his training at this gym, and he was great friends with Dave. Many people don’t know that John has done over 650 MAKE-A-WISHES by May of 2021. John holds the record. I believe one of the reasons for John’s success is his great heart and easygoing personality, also his being very considerate. John was born an entertainer, now he is a movie star and celebrity.

At the time that I was training at this gym, I gave up my Teamster Union position and I took a simple driving job of taking patients to hospital visits. One girl that I drove had been in a wheelchair all her life. She adored John Cena and she felt she lived vicariously through him. One night at the gym, I had bought her a Hard Nocks Gym T-shirt. When I saw John, I asked him to sign it for her. Her name was Crystal. John was happy to sign it and asked me about Crystal. I told John she was his biggest fan and was always at his shows. John did not say anything, he just had a look…

It was a while before I saw Crystal again and she said that when she was at the big show at Hampton Beach Casino in New Hampshire, John saw her and brought her up to ringside. John gave her his wrist bands and made that spot in his shows, her spot. That is who John is. John and his brothers are a great example of the kind, supportive, great people from Hard Nocks Gym.

In the first three books in this seven-book series I have done extensive listing of all the great people that have played their parts for me on this journey. I am sincerely grateful to every one of them. There have been so many individuals that God has worked through to help me, guide me, and uplift me in times of trouble. I have been blessed with a great family and true friends in my life. All of the gang from Hard Nocks Gym. I had great parents that put up with such a troubled soul as myself with kindness and consideration. I have great brothers and a wonderful son and daughter, now a granddaughter. We all have our own lives to live, and I wish everyone the best. The words of Kahlil Gibran: Your children are not your children.

They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself. They came through you but not from you and though they are with you, yet they belong not to you." We are but the Caretakers of God’s children. I have always felt like the caretaker of God’s stuff, that it was not mine. I am sincerely grateful to God for a lifetime of safe motorcycle riding, 1965 to present day. I have been In the Wind for over fifty years. I am so grateful for the ten years I spent with Barbara and our ten years of riding in the White Mountains. We shared ten years of safe, problem-free riding on the best custom motorcycles all over New England, especially the White Mountains. Thank you God for keeping Barbara and myself safe out on the roads for all those years. I have priceless memories of riding with Barbara in the White Mountains…

I am sincerely grateful for having experienced everything that I ever wanted. The best gift of experiencing living I LOVE THE LIFE I LIVE, and I LIVE THE LIFE I LOVE. I am sincerely grateful for the teachings about our mind and the power of thoughts and feelings. The wisdom of the proper way to breathe and the knowledge of our true self. I am grateful for all the wisdom from the ancient masters to the present-day teachers like Gregg Braden, Dr. Joe Dispenza, and Dr. Bruce Lipton. My great friend Kay that has always encouraged me to write and who believed in my writing process, before I did. D.R. (Ram) Butler for sharing his endless wisdom and his life of selfless service.

My great friend, Bob Hawes, who has done so much, in so many ways to help me create these books. Big thanks to the great team at Balboa Press. Via, Tara, Ann, and the Design team have been so understanding and helpful and have done such a great job setting up and designing my books. Big thanks to Louise Hay, owner of Hay House International, for providing this vehicle for indie authors like myself to be published all over the world. Big thanks to the Yogic Path I follow and to all the monks and my friends. Big thanks to all the sweet women that have filled my books. A big thanks to Michele and Karen for bringing their beauty that filled my writings. Michele and Karen are two very special and exceptional individuals that have been such great friends.

From the time I started my first book until it was published was ten years. In the last two years, I have published three more books. My fourth book is now next to my first three books online. That will make three books published in two years compared to one book published in ten years. I would call that a miracle and another gift to be grateful for. It is funny how hard it was for me to write in the beginning and now I have found I have a gift for storytelling and the books are just flowing. I jokingly have called myself; THE IRISH STORYTELLER OF MIAMI BEACH. A funny twist of fate…

So, a very big thanks to all that have enriched my life and also a big thanks to The One.

This is the fourth book in the seven-book series under the title.

    MYSTICISM IN NEWBURYPORT.

    75052.png

This new book follows the continuing story of the unfolding of the spiritual journey of Peter James Ford. The books tell of Peter’s earlier wild years and then his entry into the spiritual realms. After his powerful spiritual awakening in the historic seaport town of Newburyport, Massachusetts, these tales in Peter’s books began to flow. Many years later, these tales of insights and wisdom kept flowing from this unseen source. Peter lightheartedly calls this voice The Mystery Writer. Many channels or mystics will put names on the voices that flow through them. It is all really just The One Voice behind the curtain that runs the Universe. The following books are Peter’s books of lighthearted tales, so far… These four books are a huge completion of Peter’s life works, and his writings were the vehicle to clear all past baggage. One of the greatest gifts from Peter’s writing for him was seeing just how taken care of by a loving God he has been. Another gift was seeing that nothing ever went wrong in his life. His destiny unfolded perfectly for the purpose of this incarnation. There is a saying that Peter uses often, THERE IS SOMETHING MAGICAL ABOUT WRITING OUT YOUR ISSUES. Peter was to find that he could have direct conscious communication with God through his willingness to write out his experiences with rigorous honesty.

Writing is a power tool for self-healing. In the writings of the founders of the original 12-step recovery program, the writers had some words about direct communion with God. They said that you can go directly to God for answers, but it was suggested that until you are firmly established in the principles of the program, it is better left unused. Along the way in the program of recovery you will be established in a way of life that gives you complete freedom. Your physical sobriety will be based in a faith as strong as concrete. Your emotional sobriety will give you the ability to go directly to God for direction and guidance. This God and direct conscious communion with it, has always been there, but you will become aware of it, when you are established in emotional sobriety.

There are two parts to the recovery program. One is getting physically sober and free of alcohol, and then being sober becomes a normal state of being from then on. Physical sobriety is the miracle. The frosting on the cake is the second part of the God given program. This second part of the program is called emotional sobriety. It is a state of equanimity and mastery of your mind. Physical sobriety and Emotional sobriety are what gives you freedom, happiness, peace, and right understanding. As the two wings of the dove, Grace and Self-effort work perfectly together, so too, Physical and Emotional Sobriety go hand in hand on our path. Once established in this state of mind and emotions you are now qualified to go directly to God for any answers or direction you need. No one knows more about you than your own heart. This is true freedom as you are not dependent on any individual or group and you do not get your power from anyone else anymore. You realize you are the power. You are now home. Your own heart was the goal all the time.

Peter hopes that there will be something in his books that uplifts you, challenges your beliefs, makes you reflect on your life, or just brings a smile to your face. So here are the covers and back covers of Peter’s first four books.

Peter wishes the best for you and yours…

    Preface

    image06.jpg

As I have mentioned in other stories, how writing has become my way to continue my personal development and to increase my understanding and knowledge of life and myself. Well, it continues to go to a higher level of putting the pieces of my life together and even bringing past lives into a clearer perspective of my journey, over many lifetimes. I had always had a fascination with the number seven and was to write a number of stories about this number. As I was completing my last book I came across THE KYBALION with its THE SEVEN HERMETIC PRINCIPLES. It seemed like all the work writing these first three books was to bring me to this place to discover these writings of Hermes Trismegistus. My writings began with the thought I am going to write about all the seven sequences in my life, but it turned into a lot more. When I was asked when I began writing what my books would be about, I thought for a moment and replied Mysticism. It is interesting how much I have identified and how strong a connection I have with the teachings in the Kybalion which was from the writings of "The Great Lodge of Lodges of the MYSTICS."

MYSTICISM IS SPIRITUALITY WITHOUT THE DOGMA OF RELIGIONS.

I feel I have found the source of my obsession for the number seven, and it is contained in these seven hermetic principles. These seven hermetic principles are the source of all spiritual paths all over the world. You will find the core teachings in every true spiritual path has these ancient principles from Hermes. Even Abraham traveled to study with Hermes. Many yogis from the East traveled to Egypt to study with Hermes. He was credited with being The Father of Philosophy. I believe that there were many masters at that time, but Hermes was one that stands out as the great one. His path was one of MYSTICISM.

I feel a strong connection with him and his simple but extremely powerful teachings in the collection of his writings called THE KYBALION. The point of these words about Hermes is that most, if not all, the wisdom that I have learned from countless teachers and masters appears to go back to him and The Great Lodge of Lodges of the Mystics. I have written about the Seven Hermetic Principles, as they are such powerful teachings, in my tale called PJF III, later on in this book.

The other amazing writings were called SACRED GEOMETRY. The writers of these teachings were so brilliant as they linked everything together so well and made them so easily understood. A video that I had seen had a hatha yoga instructor going through his movement as they included geometrical lines corresponding to his body configurations. Amazingly it looked just like when they align the stars with lines in their astrological constellations. Think about how ancient cultures from all over the world had created their own forms of astronomy that all had the same designs. I think one reason that these cultures were so creative is that they did not have all the distractions of the modern world. Also there were no lights from manmade structures to block the night sky. The only light at night was the stars and planets in the sky. It was the primetime show for the night, not something on Netflix. And these ancient cultures (with no contact) used the same advanced engineering to build structures (mainly pyramids) all over the world. South America, Egypt, China, and even Russia have ancient pyramids, along with the tallest pyramid in the ocean off South America. It reminded me of how there is only One Story and how everything goes back to a handful of simple principles and laws in the entire Universe. So, those are two of the most influential writings I have come across. There is so much that I am looking forward to learning about and then writing about.

Symbols and their significance are subjects that I plan on exploring more in future stories. They use a symbol of three consecutive triangles to represent Past, Present and Future – Magic, Dreams, and Terrenal Body, Soul and Spirit – Change, Energy and Equilibrium. It reminds me of how in Consciousness the Past, the Present and the Future are all available to the sincere seeker in this moment. This means you can take any knowledge ever known from the past. You can also see into the future and know things long before they ever happen. But the Present Moment is the place to be. Fully present in this moment is the key to a great life. Choices and Decisions made in the present moment with our best intuition will create the dream of our life. The Present Moment rules and that is why it is the conclusion of this book.

The process of writing stuff out is how I process and learn in the easiest and best way for me. Writing is truly a magical experience. My conception about the purpose of a Preface is to tell the reader why I wrote the book, why it is important and hopefully what they will take away from it. My writings are a humble attempt to add my five cents to the great awakening going on in the world. It does not matter how many people read my writings, it is only important that I write them and share my truth. The rest is The Play of Consciousness.

Well, let’s start with why I began writing these books. After a profound spiritual awakening in the form of a powerful Kundalini Awakening I was to have stories flow out of me about meditation, yoga, past lives, Native Americans, Nature, and the Merrimac River. These stories began to flow out of me, and I began writing down these amazing tales of self-discovery. I was having vivid visions of past-life experiences of being with the Native Americans from the Newburyport area. I would literally feel like I was standing in front of a blazing fire at a drumming circle with these Indians from hundreds of years ago. I could see it so clearly, and I could even feel the heat from standing too close to the fire. In one of my visions, I was to see a dark-haired beauty smiling at me as she looked through the fire. I was to meet this woman from my past very soon on the boardwalk in Newburyport that ran alongside the powerful Merrimac River. I named her The Mystery Woman of Newburyport. She was an elusive mystic that was to play for me the same part the boatman played for Siddhartha in Herman Hesse’s Classic Novel called SIDDHARTHA. In Herman’s book, the boatman was named Vasudev. This simple boatman that lived his life in communion with the river told Siddhartha to stay by the river. That the river will reveal all its secrets. The river will tell you everything that you seek to know. I was to have this experience along the Merrimac River during long nights in meditation. My mystery woman was to guide me as Vasudev had guided Siddhartha. The mystery woman was truly a gift…

It was a magical and mystical time in my life. It was a surreal time in my life. It was hard for me to tell what was real or what was just a fleeting experience of consciousness. I know today that those experiences were more real than what we call everyday life in this mundane world. The inner worlds are the real world. The inner world is the real story of life and of human existence. Endless experiences of a mystical and spiritual nature were bombarding me, every day and night. So, I began to try and write out my experiences. They were to become MYSTICISM IN NEWBURYPORT my first novel in this seven-book series.

As I had said elsewhere, I had the actual, real-time experiences that Herman’s fictional character only talked about. It was all from my reading the words of one of the most powerful Kundalini Masters ever. His energy was so powerful that it awakened my dormant spiritual energy. This Master imbued His Own Highly Evolved Spiritual State into me. I was to walk into the Atlantic Ocean, and I swam right through the winter. I was never cold. There is no way, at that time that I could have done even one of the miracles that were happening for me. Since that time (for forty years) I have been devoted to studying, practicing, and living every moment in the pursuit of mastering these incredible feats with my own abilities. It is quite possible that I could do them with my own energy now. We all possess all these powers, and it just takes devotion, time, and practice to develop them. What happens is you know that you are manifesting as God in this present moment, so what need do you have to be someone special with powerful gifts. Your need to be recognized in the world of people falls away.

As I wrote my first book, I realized it was not my book. It was the Master’s energy flowing through me creating these tales to share with people. I felt that God, through this Master, was using me to write and share the ancient wisdoms. I thought it was kind of humorous as I had a seventh-grade formal education. I had not opened a book since the seventh grade. I was now in my forties. I had a very limited vocabulary, and I needed a dictionary to understand every other word I wrote. I had almost completed the book three times and I freaked out over sharing so much of my personal struggles and I tore it up and threw it away. Within a few days, I would have such pain in my heart that I could not breathe. The pain would not go away until I began to write again. I finally surrendered and accepted that this was my fate. I thought, I will get around being embarrassed, as I will use a fictional name for the author.

When I shared this with the mystery woman she almost bit my head off. She said: "Look at your name, Peter James Ford. Peter is a very powerful name, the rock of the Church. James believed to be Christ’s brother. Ford is another very powerful name. PETER JAMES FORD is your name and use it to tell who wrote this book. I felt that this was my guidance, and I used my own name. I laughed later on at some of my fears, that some of the wise guys from my past might read the book. That was not very likely as only someone really looking for more than this mundane world would be attracted to my books. I don’t think my past associates are members of Oprah’s Book Club of the Month. They are not much on reading, much like I was not a reader either. They are not readers or writers. They express their creative side through violence.

One of the hardest lessons for me to accept is that the energy that flows through my hands to write spiritual books is the same, exact energy that could flow through my hands to pull the trigger of a gun. There is one life force, and it all depends on our choices of how we direct it. I realized the same energy that Hitler used to kill so many people is the same energy (life force) that Mother Theresa used to help the poor and sick of Calcutta, India. Was one a sick, demented man and the other a saint? Yes, and they both used the same life force to do their acts. We want to think that the power of God only does good, but there is only one power that energizes the good and the bad. There is not a second (like the devil) that is doing the bad stuff. There can be no second to the all-powerful God that rules the Universe. All that devil stuff was man-made nonsense coming from their ignorance of the truth of God. I loved the phrase, God made man in God’s image, then man made God in man’s image. Man assigned all the petty flaws of man onto God, in the form of power, control, and revenge. Much of what is called the word of God is really the word of man. Man corrupted the pure experience of God for their own need for power and control. Throw in a little sex and you then have the formal religious experience.

I wrote these books as a way to continue my own personal development. Writing has become my way of continuing my spiritual evolution. It is like I am communicating directly with God. I can write out any question and it will be answered for me in a few moments. Nowhere to look anymore, other than my own self. Nowhere to have to travel to seek enlightenment, as my enlightenment is wherever I am. The God that I sought is alive and well in my own inner awareness. My own heart is God’s abode. Nowhere else to look other than my own heart. In the 12-step program we try to give back all that we had received freely from the ones on the path ahead of us. I did not have a lot of luck giving back to people and maybe it was my personality. I have been accused of having a strong personality. I don’t see it, but maybe it is true. So, we share our experience, strength, and hope with others in whatever way we can. I put everything that I have ever learned from my life experiences on the streets, in the Riding world, to the recovery program, to the yogic path, the Native American wisdom, the ancient teachings from the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Gnostic Gospels, and the wisdom from Eastern Philosophy. I have made everything available (I held nothing back) that I have found that increased and expanded my consciousness and has helped me on my path. I have made everything available to anyone who would like it. So that is the reason I write for my growth and to share what I have found. Writing has been a magical process opening up countless doors…

They say to talk about why your book would be important. There are some of my own insights in this book, but the core teachings in this book are from Masters from numerous cultures going all the way back to the beginning of time. They say there have always been enlightened ones as far back as the beginning of time. These Universal principles and teachings are believed to have been first written down about seven thousand years ago, possibly in the Vedas of India. India is a whole story in itself. Some of the greatest masters were born in India. Some of the nastiest human behaviors also existed in India and still are practiced today. Some really nasty stuff. It is a good example of the extremes in the evolution of a human soul. In past lives, the Masters of today may have been the sick abusers of people. The evolution of a soul is a messy business and at the same time nothing has gone wrong. This is the land of karma where souls come to experience their past actions. I laugh to myself when I think I had seven broken noses in my teenage years in fights and car crashes. I must have broken a few nosed in past lives. So for the sincere seeker this book is important as it is filled with as much wisdom as I could possibly include. Every treasure that has helped me and given me Peace, Contentment, Wealth in all areas of life, and Happiness are included in my silly, lighthearted books.

I have to say that the key of willingness opened the inner doors on the spiritual path, but it was right understanding that gave me my freedom and independence. The greatest gift for some troubled soul, like myself, with a mind that never stopped causing him anguish and pain is the gift of PEACE OF MIND. All the gifts on the path are so great, but for me peace of mind is the sweetest of all. If you search for peace, you can find the way to your own peace from the words of the masters included in this book. I sincerely hope you find what you long for. There is always hope, never give up seeking and one day your prayers will be answered. There really is a way to complete understanding of yourself and a way to peace.

Then they say to talk about what you might take away from the book. That will vary with whoever reads it. It will depend on where you are with yourself, what you are looking for. Everything in this world acts as a mirror for our own inner beliefs. THIS BOOK WILL TELL YOU MORE ABOUT YOURSELF THAN IT DOES ABOUT ME.

I have had people tell me how touched they were. I had people tell me what a great story of redemption and reawakening to divinity that I wrote about. I had a number of people call me the devil. I have a few people that disowned me. I have had many reactions, some great and some not so great. Everyone will see you through their eyes, through their concepts.

You will act as a mirror and reflect back to them their own beliefs about you. Some see me as a miracle that has transcended many, many human flaws. Others see me as the devil capable of the worst deeds. There is some truth in both of their perspectives. Usually, people’s opinions have very little to do with the truth of who you are, but that, how the game of life is played. Everyone’s perspective is equal to everyone else’s perspective, so who is to say who is right or wrong? My new phrase is that there is some truth in there somewhere. And, that both perspectives are equally true and equally false. That is why we don’t take other’s opinions too seriously. Opinions can change like the wind. Please take anything that might be one of my opinions with a grain of salt. Take what resonates with your own heart from this book and just ignore the rest. It is always your choice what you accept into your consciousness.

I know in my heart of hearts that these first four books about my life were my destiny to write, to create, and to share with the rare individual that it was meant for.

So, what you are meant to take away from this book is still a mystery. You will be the only one who knows the answer to that question. One thing that everyone that read my books have said is, you will be deeply affected or touched by Peter’s writings. For some it will be in a good way and for others in a not so good way." There are no mistakes. If you read this book or one of my other books and find yourself outraged and upset, this will tell you more about yourself than it does about me. Do you really think I chose this life that I have lived? It has not been an easy one.

So, what you take away from this book is another Mystery right now…

    Introduction

    IMG_6729%202.JPG

Have you ever experienced a longing in your heart to be truly loved? Have you ever had a deep longing to know who you truly are? Have you ever had a longing to know true happiness, peace, and contentment? If you have you are not alone. Everyone experiences these painful longings until they know their true self. If you watch some of the most successful people with wealth, fame, and success you will see in their eyes that longing. Some people are just better at pretending they are fulfilled and contented than others. Movie stars with all their money, fame and success are really good at hiding their emptiness and lack of love. We are watching Jonny Depp and Amber Heard, two very successful actors, appearing to have it all, share all their dirty laundry with the world. You have these two people that in the past convinced the world of how they had it all going for them. We have heard the testimony of two lonely, unloved, and lost individuals. The eyes tell the whole story of the soul of an individual. Look at their eyes and you will see two people lost. They both know all about the longing to be loved. They both know all about the longing to know who they truly are. They both know the meaning of loneliness. The loneliness does not come from not being with another. The loneliness has nothing to do with other people. The loneliness comes from not having yourself.

Have you ever lay alone in the middle of the night and could not sleep? All your demons were there to torture you for your past and you were all alone with no escape. In those moments we truly know we came into this world alone and we will go out alone. That is why self-knowledge and right understanding of who we are and why we are here is so important. Through right knowledge we can gain the understanding and reconnect with the power that lives in our own heart. Most people call this power, this force, this intelligence behind Nature God. The way to fill that hole inside you is by coming to know the Being that lives right within your own heart. Spiritual practices and self-knowledge can give you this experience of reuniting with God. When this happens all your fears, any emptiness, all loneliness fall away. You will know contentment, peace, fulfillment, purpose, and happiness. You will know who you truly are. You are not a human being having occasional spiritual experiences, but you are a Spiritual Being having human experiences. You are an eternal soul that is one with God. This experience is here for everyone as it is your divine right to know the God that lives within you as you. The God that you have always searched for is alive and well in your own inner awareness. The true purpose of a human birth is to reawaken to the realization that God is manifesting as you in this moment. Self-realization is just realizing your own inner self is God. We do this through Grace and spiritual practices.

I was pretty good at hiding my emptiness and my sense of being lost until one night the mystery woman of Newburyport looked me in the eyes and asked, But why the sorrow? I felt that I could have collapsed on the boardwalk. Surprisingly, I opened up my heart and we began the first of many great exchanges. She was a very healing force in my life. I told her story in my first book and she will always have a place in my heart.

Well, that is what the overall theme of this book is – to help share all the techniques and practices that helped free me of my loneliness, emptiness, lost state of being, lack of purpose. I have included everything that I found that helps a true seeker find enlightenment. I have included the wisdom from countless masters and teachers that have led the way for us.

So, if you are feeling unfulfilled in your life or that you have an emptiness inside you that you don’t reveal to anyone else, there may be something in this book for you. I struggled with alcoholism, sixties drug use, addictions to danger and excitement that almost cost me my life many times, attention deficit disorder, learning disabilities, and on and on. Not much I did not struggle with in this life, but I found peace.

If you are looking to learn more about yourself, or just to give yourself an edge over other people, you will find it in this book. From the teachings in this book I learned how to play the game of life. I learned the secret key that unlocked any woman’s heart. I went from someone who, when he was younger, always chased the women and was very needy, to someone that could charm almost any woman. It all goes back to the same simple truths of knowing yourself. Self-knowledge changed everything for me. It gave me health, happiness, prosperity, success at whatever I did, fulfillment, peace, and an abundance of all the things of the world I loved.

If you are looking for the path to enlightenment you will find it in this book.

If you are looking to master the game of life you will find it in this book.

If you seek peace and contentment, these tools are within the pages of this book.

In this book are the teachings to master your own mind.

In this book are the secrets to the science of breathing.

In this book are the secrets to mastering your life.

    75149.png

My story begins down in a blue-collar town called Lynn, Massachusetts, in 1950. My younger years were the life of a troubled soul always in trouble. I was to enter the 12-step recovery program for alcoholism at nineteen years old. My spiritual journey really began then with a spiritual awakening. I followed the teachings laid out by the founders of this program and over the years I arrested my alcoholism and recovered from this fatal illness. After many years I attained what the program had to offer with having acquired physical sobriety and emotional sobriety. The promises of the program all came true for me. Many years into the program I began to follow the ancient teachings of a yogic path of meditation masters. As, I said, I had a spiritual awakening entering the program and then at five years sober, I had my first spiritual experience. When I began practicing these ancient meditation practices I was around thirty-five years sober. At that time I was to have the most profound spiritual awakening which changed me forever.

As my life unfolded, I began writing about my spiritual experiences in the historic seaport town of Newburyport, Massachusetts. I was to write stories or tales about all the great people from this area. I had written one story called THE SCHOOL OF HARD NOCKS about the oldest continuously running gym in New England. I wrote my first story about the phenomenon of the number seven called TALE OF THE SEVENS. Another story was about all the hidden magical places in this little town, and it was called MYSTICISM IN NEWBURYPORT. Another tale was called WHITE FEATHER, MY PRIMARY PHYSICIAN. Another story was called THE EARLY YEARS about my times when I was consumed in heavy alcoholic drinking, drugs of the sixties, physical training, and motorcycle riding. It was a magical time of constant insights and knowings about life and myself. I was growing in leaps and bounds.

Around this time, I met Barbara and we began our life together. We shared ten wonderful years together. I learned so much from this wonderful woman. We rode motorcycles in the White Mountains, and we had a honeymoon that lasted ten years. One day, our karma (the purpose of our relationship) was over, and we parted ways. Barbara went to L.A., and I went back to Miami, once again. I had almost finished my first book when I met Barbara and it went on the shelf for years. From start to finish the first book took many years. In South Beach, Miami I have written three books in two years. There has been another drastic shift in my life, and I have no idea what is next to come. I know it will be good though…

To honor this historic seaport town of Newburyport where I had such a profound spiritual awakening, I named my seven-book series MYSTICISM IN NEWBURYPORT. Book II was called MYSTIC RIDERS and Book III was called SHADOW RIDERS. These books are about the continuous unfolding of my spiritual journey in this life. It is more about a unique school of thought, than any particular location. My first book was of modest size but these last three have been five-hundred-page, books. The information just kept pouring out from what I call THE MYSTERY WRITER. I know it is really my subconscious mind, my higher self, but like many channels using a cool name is fun.

So, basically, this book is a continuation of the process I have been living with my mind, heart and spirit continually expanding on the path. I hope you find something of value in these writings for you. At least, I hope my writings will bring a smile to your face of being grateful you are not this silly, Irishman…

    MIND

    Everything stems from mind

It is always about the mind

The mind is the source of everything

Mind is the cause of everything

    75160.png

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING FOR A PERSON

    IS UNDERSTANDING THEIR MIND

    MIND

Everything begins and ends with the mind,

    Understanding how it works

    Mastering your own mind

    Controlling your own mind

    Taming the beast

Directing your thoughts in positive ways creates a great life

    75165.png

EVERYTHING WE CREATED ON OUR PLANET WAS CREATED IN OUR MINDS.

T ake some time and contemplate how powerful our minds are. Everything we have created on our planet was first created in our minds. Our minds were the source and cause of everything we see in the world. The wonderful creations and the evilest creations had their birth in our minds. Einstein’s breakthroughs and Hitler’s atrocities all began in their minds before they manifested in the world. Nothing in the world created itself. Our minds are the first and only cause of everything we see, feel and touch in the world. Not only did everything start in our minds, but everything was fueled by the same divine life force (God). There is only one force, one power in the entire Universe and we control it by how we direct our thoughts. The energy that flows through my hands to help an elderly person across the street is the same energy that would flow through me to break someone’s jaw. There is only one life force (with no second) in the entire Universe. At first, it is hard to accept that the energy that empowered Hitler to kill six million Jews is the same energy that created the wonderful things in the world, but it is.

God is the energy, the life force that empowers our thoughts and it is up to us how we use it. God gave us free will otherwise we would just be slaves or robots. Free will is the power, the choice to think anything we want. People have all kinds of issues and go through all kinds of different things growing up (many not very healthy) and it affects them in how they use God’s power. We can’t do much about the ones like Hitler or Putin (unless we get the chance to put a bullet in their heads), but we can use our God given power to be helpful, kind, loving and supportive. After hearing this quoted hundreds of times it finally sank in with me and I am very conscious of my choices today. We have great power and with great power comes great responsibility. Putin could choose to stop this war right now in this moment or he could continue to destroy the Ukrainian people. My job is keeping my side of the street clean. My point (mainly for myself) is to never forget that There is no such thing as an idle thought. Every thought you have is creating something. I need eternal vigilance about watching my thinking as I can go to some very dark places. I have lived in hell within myself, and I am not going back.

    THREE PARTS OF THE MIND

(These three are great, but this is a tiny fraction of the whole story)

There are three parts of your mind: conative, affective, and cognitive. In a simple explanation it means the doing part the feeling part and the thinking part. These three (the power of three) work together in perfect harmony to create the life you dreamed of.

There are three phases of mind which are the Conscious mind, the Subconscious mind, and the Universal mind. They also talk of a super conscious mind, but it is really just the same as and a part of these three phases of mind. These are the three phases of mind; conscious, subconscious, and the Universal mind that you want to be concerned with. In a simple but very powerful book by Venice Bloodworth called KEY TO YOURSELF she explains these three phases of mind in the simplest terms giving everyone the knowledge of their own mind and their innate power of thought. This book is a priceless gift and a book I read daily for many, many years. My life has gotten so busy with writing books I don’t have the time to sit for hours reading anymore. I truly miss that time and I am envisioning finishing this fourth book and spending my time reading the wisdom of masters from their written treasures.

Some of the following sounds a little lofty and it is not nesecsary to understand them to live a full and complete life. You will hear different terms like casual mind, gross mind, subtle mind, and very subtle mind. The Casual Mind stands for a very vaguely defined and complex group of phenomena
