Scientifically speaking, the study of sustaining mental health and avoiding the onset of insanity, neurosis, and other mental conditions is known as mental hygiene. Mental hygiene is a field of science that studies how to achieve and sustain mental health in society. Psychologists define resilience as the ability to respond well in the face of hardship, trauma, tragedy, challenges, or significant causes of stress such as family and relationship issues, severe health conditions, or occupational and financial stressors. The primary purpose of mental hygiene is to achieve mental health. Mental hygiene is essential for safeguarding society's most vulnerable members, such as children and teenagers.
What Is Mental Hygiene?
In other words, mental hygiene is a way of keeping one's mental health in good shape. As a result, we may argue that mental hygiene is a means to an end, and mental health is the goal. When we neglect our mental hygiene, it affects the way we think, feel, and act. It also influences how we deal with
tension, interact with others, and make decisions. At all stages of life, including infancy, teenage, and maturity, mental well-being is crucial. If you have a mental illness, your thoughts, attitudes, and behavior can be affected throughout your life. Many factors play a role in mental illness, including biological causes such as genes and brain chemistry. Trauma or violence are examples of life experiences. Mental health issues run in the family.
The connection between mental illness and personal hygiene is more complex than many people realize. When stress becomes too much and lasts too long, mental health and medical issues arise. Long-term stress raises the risk of mental health issues like anxiety and depression and drug abuse issues, sleep issues, discomfort, and physical symptoms like muscle tension. Lack of mental health and mental hygiene will lead to stress, the problem relating to interpersonal relationships, depression, anxiety, pressure, family problems, and hassles.
People who experience mental illness typically feel the urge to pull away from people and their usual activities such as eating or sleeping. When stressed, they may want to hide away or over or under indulge in eating or sleeping. They will also experience a lack of energy or experience the sensation of feeling numb. They can sometimes experience unexplained aches and pains, feeling weak or hopeless. For some, they may also display a greater use or engaging in smoking, drinking, or drug use, feeling unusually perplexed, forgetful, agitated, angry, irritated, worried, or afraid. They
may also struggle with their family and friends, who could be trying to help them. The battle with those around them is often a result of their struggle with extreme mood swings and triggers. In severe cases, where the person does not get the necessary help or diagnosis, it could sometimes lead to psychotic or
