I am far from your normal writer. Most of my life I spent doing physically demanding repetitive tasks to earn a living. That is until I became medically discharged from the working world.  I took up creative writing on my own after having a re-occouring dream that gave me the inspiriation for something to write about. Who knew that it would lead to a multi-volume book series.  I had a great deal of fun writing this series, and my hopes are that the readers have as much enjoyment reading it as I had writing it.

    CONTENTS

    Ending High school

As the weeks went on David and his friends talked to the sisters at the orphanage about signing for some community service hours while helping to tutor the children in subjects to assist them in getting better grades so that they could have an increased chance in making a better future for their lives. In doing this the team of teens racked up over 200 hours each in community service hours just in the last year of high school. Norman Hardy was pleased with their performance, as was Boris Romanov.

With their study groups, community service hours, and part-time jobs, David and their friends saved very little time to blow off steam and just have fun. But they were determined to enter into post-secondary school with a valuable bank of good grades and great references.

During the year David had co-operation periods in the morning where he would spend every morning with officers from the local precinct. Some days he would help taking information calls that came in, go on ride-a-longs with some officers, or learn about the booking procedures for people being arrested. Along with all the things that make up the regular duties about being a police officer. Most of his time in this period he spent with Officer William Browning.

David talked it over with Karl and Gloria while out on a ride-a-long patrol about buying a trailer and renting a lot at the campground. David's parents were already accepting of the idea. They brought up some pros and cons about the idea but with David and Claire being engaged, it kind of weighed in David's favour He bought the trailer and had it delivered. Claire's Uncle Bob and his crew built the deck and shed to make it look like someone from way out of town was going to be camping there occasionally, instead of David and Claire. Any time Claire would ask who's trailer that was, and why they haven't been out, Karl would just pass it off and say. They must be very busy this week.

Claire had her co-operation periods working in the nearby animal hospital. She would get the animals ready for surgery by shaving the necessary areas, feed and clean the animals, take the dogs out to the K-9 play area for some running around time, and let the cats loose in the feline area for them to climb and play.

Prom night was upon them, and the group was ready to really let their hair down for a night of fun. Because of David's grades in his classes, a few people nominated him for Prom King, but since Claire was not nominated for Prom Queen he decided to campaign to advocate in favour of Tim Morris. He was a strapping husky lad that most of the girls had crushes on. He was the captain of most of the sports he played and had decent grades to forward him in a career later on in life if sports didn't take him where he wanted to go. Lisa Watson was a shoe-in for Prom Queen because she had good grades, got along with everyone with her bubbly personality, and not only was assistant captain of the cheer-leading squad, but also played in a few of the sports as well herself.

David went to Barry's tuxedo shop with the guys to pick up their tuxes for the prom. Being that David was a repeat customer, Barry treated him in kind. He knew that David would adorn his doorstep again after Barry asked the group if they all had dates for the prom.

David replied with We've all been in relationships for the last three years Barry, of course, we have dates!

Ron added, And David proposed to his!

Barry and his staff were really excited for David as they knew with the number of times that David had been to their shop to rent tuxedos and knew the quality of them, it would be no contest for him to return to Barry to be fitted into his wedding tux. They were just going to have to wait for the date which hadn't been thought of just yet.

David flipped the bill for all the tuxedos as a special thank you to them for being such great friends. Even though they all tried to pay, David just wouldn't let them.

Lizzy worked for Vicky's Hair and Nail Salon, and when Vicky found out that one of Lizzy's friends was David AKA Maxx Pseudo, she offered to treat the girls to a makeover for the Prom as a small payback for all that David had done for her and William. Beth and Steve were on the yearbook club and took the photos of the group for their own personal memories. Nikki worked at the high-end dress shop in town and as a graduation gift to Nikki, the owner gave the girls a super deal on their custom made dresses that Nikki designed and made for them during the year in co-operation periods.

Derek's parents owned the cab and limo company in town and it was no surprise that they were being driven to the Prom in a limousine. Ron didn't have any connections to clothes, rides or beauty packages for the group but he brought was corsages for the guys to give to their girls that matched the colors of their dresses. Nikki gave him color swatches with the materials that each of their dresses were made from, though he would not give a reason why he wanted them.

ALL THE OTHER KIDS from the school that were there for Prom turned their heads to see who was getting out of the limo. No surprise the first person out was Derek as he reached out his hand for Lizzy's to help her out of the car. One by one they all followed suit with David and Claire bringing up the tail end.

The kids taking pictures were from the yearbook club and were juniors. They were only invited so that they could capture the moments of the Prom so the seniors from the club could enjoy their evening without having to stop and take pictures. Even the Prom committee had juniors dedicated for decorations, and clearing the dinner tables so that the party could continue seamlessly. This school had done this for many years to incite working together among the different grade levels.

There was a two-hour introduction and arrival time frame before dinner was to be served. After dinner, the Prom King and Queen were presented their crowns and made their speeches of acceptance while the Decoration Committee went to work clearing tables and making room for the celebrations. After the speeches were done Norman Hardy and Boris Romanov took the stage to announce the valedictorian for the graduating class. It was no surprise to everyone else, but it was to David when he was invited up to the stage to accept his accolades as valedictorian.

Brittany Jensen was the Prom Committee President and announced that it was time for the Dance of the Prom King and Queen. When the song 'King and Queen of Hearts' by David Pomeranz started Tim took Lisa by the hand and led her to the centre of the dance floor. By the middle of the song, he whispered in her ear. I've wanted to dance with you since grade nine. I was afraid you'd say no.

Me too. She whispered back. My mom told me that I should wait for the man to ask me to dance and not the other way around. I'm glad I got this dance with you.

It doesn't have to be our only dance unless that is what you want, Tim replied back softly.

She leaned back to look him in the face. She had a happy tear forming in her eye. This was the best night for her. From being named Prom Queen to having the Prom king of her dreams all night to herself. Just the look in her eyes, and her pulling him tightly into her let him know that she wanted to spend the rest of the prom with him.

As the night progressed and the teens were all dancing and having fun, the pair talked and laughed and became closer. David and Claire came by to congratulate them on being named Prom King and Queen. Thanks for campaigning for me instead of against me, Tim said.

Hey, I didn't mind, David replied. We don't need that title to know that she's the queen of my heart and I the king of hers. You two look good together. I think you'd make a great couple! David said hinting for them to ask each other out.

He's always trying to match people up, Claire said dismissively.

Well, he did a great job with the rest of us! Steve jumped into the conversation. We've all been together happily for three years now. I'd give it a shot if I were you, What have you got to lose?

Tim and Lisa were a bit embarrassed about Steve's comment, but they did like each other, and neither of them was dating anyone. Tim looked at Lisa, nodded his head and said. I'm game! You?

Lisa shed a few happy tears before wrapping Tim up in a hug. Yes, I'm game! She screeched with overcoming joy.

LIZZY PULLED A MAKEUP cloth out of her sleeve and handed it to Lisa. Better catch that before we have to re-paint the whole face! She said joking about her mascara starting to run from the happy tears she was shedding.

The hour was getting late and the last songs were announced. Naturally, Lisa and Tim were stuck together just like David and Claire and all their friends. After the last song played they all waited out in the parking lot where William and a few off duty police officers offered to make sure that they were safe until the parents picked them up. When the limo came to pick up David and his friends Tim thanked David for convincing him to get together with Lisa and offered to help him with his speech for graduation, even though David really didn't need the help.

Claire felt bad about not having anything to contribute for Prom night. She talked Karl into reserving the cabins for a graduation party for just her friends for July 4th weekend. When she brought this news to the group while they were in the limo, they were just elated about the party weekend after high school was over and done with.

David and the group studied hard for their final exams. They passed with flying colors Even Ron and Derek received marks that were a total shock to themselves being in the mid 80% on their exam papers. Now all that was left of high school for them was to receive their diplomas and get through the ceremony.

One by one in alphabetical order the students were lined up to walk across the stage and accept their diplomas from Norman Hardy, and the ones that qualified for grants and scholarships received them from Boris Romanov. After the diplomas were handed out Norman announced the scholar awards because of Boris' really thick Russian accent made it hard to understand him.

The last award to be handed out was a full ride scholarship for outstanding grade point average, which hands down went to David for his near perfect 4.0 GPA. He was also announced as the Class Valedictorian and was invited to deliver his address to the graduating class.

David took the podium and started to deliver his speech. Faculty, Classmates, Parents! Lend me your ears. He started with a smile, while he waited for the crowd to quit laughing. Even though I've only been a part of this school for the last three years, I feel as though we are family. Some closer than others, and some like distant relatives. We're all in this world together as one species, striving to make the best of it as we can. Our elders and ancestors have forged this world into what we have today for us, and eventually, we will be the ones forging it into something greater for future generations to come. We can make our society into something to either be proud of or be feared. Let's make it into something that future generations can be proud to say that we had something positive to bring to the table. As we all come from different walks of life, and different situations. Today we are all here as one. Today we begin the journey to make our lives matter, to mean something positive to the generations to come. In the last hundred years, we've had advancements in technology, medical treatments, agriculture, protection services, and education. A society that doesn't advance, stagnates and becomes extinct. Let's not stop advancing, let's forge on to make things better than we have now. Advancement is only stalled by the limitations of the imaginations of the people working in the world. Anyone from a sewer sucker, to a rocket scientist, can make a difference in this world, so it's up to us to show them what we can imagine! David thanked them for listening and exited the stage.

I now call this class of 2019 graduated! Congratulations one and all Norman announced as the graduating class ceremoniously threw their caps into the air as most classes traditionally did.

Even though the kids were still only 18 and 19 years old, they had been together with the same romantic partners for a little better than three years, and this meant something to the parents of the group. They were more comfortable about them
