I welcome all to my world of writing and authorship. I am a husband, father and grandfather and I have been writing for many years and have published several fantasy works available through most major ebook retailers. I have tried to give the tales a feeling of place and circumstances that, although fiction, all readers who enjoy fantasy can relate to. In the past three years I have veered from the fantasy genre that started me down my writing path, with the release of The Home World Series. It currently contains three books, Star Eagle Six, Ghost Fleet, and Battle Wagon. It is a rip-roaring space opera that romps across the galaxy. The Last Elf Prophecy series stands at two books with the release of Decimation of Allingaard. It begins where book one, Sands of Nevertime ends. The series takes the reader through a world of discovery as an aging wizard tries to fulfill his life's dream; revive a long-lost world of elves. The third book of the series is being written; Awakening of Lillestrom. Look for it in the coming year. Also look for my trilogy; The Crystal Point Legacy: The Dream Valley, Silent Watcher and Death of Kings. If you are a fan of short stories, I have partnered with a group of authors on three anthologies: End of the Road, The Kiss, and The Bitten. Look for my works in those as well. I also welcome all to follow along with my blog, Ramblings of a 50 year old man; http://rambling50.blogspot.com. It is just my thoughts on life as I journey along to the fateful end. I also have a blog, http://sheimas.blogspot.com which is an on-going, first-person prequel to The Crystal Point Legacy. I hope you join me in my writing as we discover new worlds together.

    The Unwanted Child

It was a cold black night. The wind was blowing hard, almost sounding like a constant whistle. The young couple was scurrying to get ready to go to the hospital. They had met years ago and fell in love; they were so young, so scared, and full of love and passion. These two soon-to-be young parents could barely keep their hands off of each other. Now they are about to have their first child. Both were so nervous and Tommy didn’t want this pregnancy, so they had agreed to put the baby up for adoption. To him it was no big deal, he never wanted any kids nor ever would. But for Priscilla, it was a much tougher choice. She always wanted a family, but she knew she wasn’t ready and she also knew he wasn’t ready either. besides the fact that he often made it clear that he didn’t want any kids or as he called them baggage. But for this young scared couple, the hour had come for Priscilla to deliver the baby she had been carrying for nine long months.

As Tommy went to go get the car warmed up Priscilla was making sure everything was in her bag that she had prepared a few nights ago when the contractions started getting worse. He left the car running to come back to the house to get her. After going back into the house he helped her grab the bag and a few extra things that she may need, just in case she ends up staying a day or two. He tried to loved Priscilla the best he could, but he wasn’t very compassionate towards anyone. So the fact that he was helping her through all of this speaks volumes to her, especially considering that he doesn’t even want the child.

When she first found out she was pregnant she didn’t immediately tell him for fear of his reaction toward the situation. It took several days before she could muster up the courage to tell him. Even though he may have loved her as much as he knows how or can, he wasn’t the nicest guy. Sometimes even to the point of being abusive to her. So for her to have a child with him may have not been a good idea anyway but he hated using protection and even though he decided to not use it he would still blame her for getting pregnant. Everything was her fault regardless of what it was, even things that she had absolutely nothing to do with. She often wondered if he just liked having reasons to beat her.

Many had wondered what Priscilla had ever seen in him in the first place. For he had a severely bad reputation way before Priscilla had hooked up with him. Many who knew Priscilla were concerned from the beginning, for she was a very nice young lady who was brought upright and had many great qualities. Many saw her as being one of the sweetest gals in town. And no one liked the idea of her being with Tommy, who always seemed to find his way into trouble. As sweet as she was he was equally violent. And now here she was about to have a baby she can’t keep with a man who wouldn’t even buy her a ring, let alone propose to her. Tommy often talked about how marriage was a joke, and how marriage is only a piece of paper. He would often tell Priscilla that she didn’t need to be married to be in love. To be honest, he was just afraid of any real commitment. He was only faithful to himself and sometimes that wasn’t even true.

She had known that he was cheating on her when he wouldn’t come home from work on time. Of course, he would always say he was out with the guys, but the funny thing is, the guys never came over to see him. Perhaps there weren’t even any guys Tommy was hanging out with. Most people didn’t even like him except for a few other thugs that ran with him when they weren’t in jail and there had been rumors of him being with several women around town, and even some whisper of him possibly getting a few pregnant before and forcing them to have an abortion. Nothing was ever confirmed to her of these matters though but as much as she wanted to believe him that it wasn’t true she knew in heart that it probably was. And to leave him over rumors was something she was afraid to do. He was way too violent and had told her many times before that he wouldn’t let her leave him. Tommy had often threatened her with physical violence if she ever tried. Even once threatened to hurt her parents if she did. She never really knew how far he would take it, so she thought it best to just leave it well enough alone, or at least until someone had something they could prove to her. But one thing was for sure, no one was coming forward about it as far as any of the girls that he was being accused of sleeping with, they too were afraid of him and they all knew that if they spoke up to confirm it that he would hurt them as well.

Finally getting everything together He helped her out to the car. He didn’t even open the door for her when they got there, but at least he did help out a little. The frost on the windows was starting to melt as they backed out of the driveway. The car was heating up on the inside as they drove off to the hospital. Traffic still was a little heavy as it was around six pm in the evening. Priscilla had contractions faster as Tommy tried to hurry and maneuver through the traffic, yelling and cursing at other drivers who he felt were moving too slow for him. Having to stop for so many red lights, He got frustrated as usual and was starting to become a bit scary. He was getting extremely upset to have to keep stopping on the way to the Hospital.

He was never much for patience and would snap quite often for barely any reason at all. Finally reaching their destination before he completely lost it, She was greatly relieved that they had made it before he killed them with his reckless driving. He didn’t even let her out at the front, but rather instead parked the car and made her walk to the front, even hurrying her while yelling at her for not walking faster. When they reached the front door he could have easily grabbed one of the wheelchairs that were right there at the entrance, but then again that would require him to be more sympathetic and that was not about to happen regardless of the situation. Priscilla walked up to the counter and was greeted by a very kind nurse who seeing she was in labor began to assist her by getting her checked in, before calling for Nurse Abigail. She was one of the best at taking care of pregnant women especially those who are younger and never had been through this before. Abigail was great at comforting those who were scared and or nervous. She was taking very good care of Priscilla as she helped her prepare for the delivery of what was going to be her firstborn.

Nurse Abigail helped her get changed and then prepped her for the delivery of her child. She couldn’t help but notice some of the scares and bruises that had been covered up by her clothing. Soon after she was ready Dr. Thompson walked in to greet the young expecting mother. Priscilla I am Dr. Thompson, I will be delivering your child this evening. So let’s take a look at you. She was very nervous.

    Hello, Dr. Thompson.

Dr. Thompson took a long look at her and reaffirmed that everything would be Okay. It looks like the baby is just about ready to come. I will be back in momentarily to check up on you, The doctor walked out of the room and headed down the hallway to see another patient. Nurse Abigail had stayed with her as they talked about this being her first baby. Priscilla being so nervous had told Nurse Abigail that she had never had any children before and she was very scared, however with the experience that Nurse Abigail had with new mothers she already knew Priscilla hadn’t been through this before. The pains of the contractions made her grit her teeth to the point that Nurse Abigail brought her something to make her more comfortable.

Meanwhile, Tommy in his typical only caring about himself was at the front desk talking to the receptionist. She, however, was appalled that while his girlfriend was having their baby he was out there flirting with her. He had asked her for her phone number and that was the last straw for this receptionist. It was bad enough that he had told her how sexy she was in her nurse outfit, but to ask for her phone number when he should be in the room with his girlfriend was more than she could stand from this low-life loser. How could he be so bold as to ask for my number?

"Let me tell you something Mr., and I use that term loosely, but I would have you to know that I would never go out with the likes of you. Why for goodness sake’s your wife or girlfriend or whoever she is, is in there right now about to have your baby, which I am assuming is probably yours. But I don’t mind telling you, that for her sake I sure hope it isn’t your baby.

Now if you don’t mind I have work to do, so please find yourself somewhere else." Samantha was greatly annoyed at his arrogance. He had looked at her with a frightening anger.

Well little miss thing, you’re a little too fat for me anyway, and to be honest I don’t think much about dating ugly girls, I only talked to you in the first place because you looked like an easy lay and I was just trying to be nice to you, you fat little heifer,

Samantha returned with a final remark to this jerk of a so-called human being. You do know I can call security and have you removed if you continue.

Tommy realized that this wasn’t a good situation as he walked off with a severe scowl on his face, wishing they had been alone in private so he could have given her a good smack across her face. For that was a trait that he had no plans of stopping any time soon. He loved to feel the control he had over women when he could keep them in fear from the physical abuse he would often inflict on them, as well as the verbal abuse he put women through constantly. As he walked his way down the hall to the room where Priscilla was, he overheard the Dr. say that she was about to give birth at any minute. He finally made his way into her room and looked at her. Well looks like your about to give birth to this brat child that we are not keeping. Tommy smarted off in front of everyone while Priscilla laid there in pain and needed his support and comfort that he would refuse her. Priscilla was embarrassed and too afraid to respond to those kinds of remarks for fear of what would happen later on when she would return home. He rarely forgot anything bad that she had done in the past and would even wait a few days before beating her like a senseless dog. The only reason why he wouldn’t have done it now was that the opportunity to do so had not permitted itself. For he was the most unforgiving retched piece of garbage that anyone would have ever found.

He walked out and decided to go to the waiting room to wait this thing out, slumping down into a chair to watch Television until the terrible inconvenience was over. Meanwhile, in the delivery room, Priscilla was about to give birth. Giving a final push she delivered the baby that she would have always wanted had it not been for her abusive boyfriend. After the Doctor had cleaned the baby up and checked his health, he handed the baby to his mother while letting her know that he was a healthy baby boy.

Congratulation Priscilla you have a son Priscilla lovingly took the wonderful new baby boy in her arms with a sigh of relief and a smile on her face as she held him.

Thank you, Doctor The new mother being exhausted looked up at the Doctor and the nurse, I want his name to be Jason. Please make sure they name him Jason. She was sad that she could not keep him. He is so precious, and she was not wanting to give him up, but she knew he wasn’t about to let her keep him and she was too afraid to even try for fear of what he would do to her and the baby.

Dr. Thompson looked at Nurse Abigail and then back at Priscilla, "What do you mean, make sure they name him Jason, why you can name your baby anything you want.

No, no, I am not keeping him Priscilla explained. Tommy and I would never be able to raise him properly you know. And I would want someone to love him and care for him properly, the way he should be cared for.

Dr. Thompson left the room so that Nurse Abigail could have a few minutes to speak with Priscilla. After walking out Nurse Priscilla spoke up.

Why would you think you couldn’t care for him?

Well it’s just we don’t have enough money and well things just aren’t very good at home right now, and this would greatly complicate things. Priscilla had a sense of fear and sadness about her that was noticeable.

Are you sure this is what you want to do? Nurse Abigail pleaded with Priscilla as she continued to questions her in hopes that she would change her mind.

She looked up at Nurse Abigail almost with a look of disgust for her not excepting her first answer began to make it a bit more clear. It’s already been decided. We won’t be keeping him at all As nurse Abigail was leaving the room she acknowledges her next responsibility.

I will notify Social Services at once. She left the room and walked down the hallway to the reception desk and to let Samantha know to call Social Services at once. Then hurried off to let Dr. Thompson know of what the decision was from Priscilla. After talking with the Doctor, Nurse Abigail began to do her rounds and check on other patients, also stepping into the waiting room to let Tommy know that his son who was an inconvenience had been finally born. He barely even acknowledging her as he stayed focused on the television and waited a while before he finally got up and went to the room that Priscilla was in. Nurse Abigail was very disgusted at Tommy’s lack of participation and a sense of caring towards his son being born.

Tommy had finally walked into the room to see Priscilla

How long do you think they will keep you here?

Just until tomorrow morning, then I can go home. Have you seen the baby?

No replied Tommy. And I don’t plan on it either. As soon as we can get you out of here then we can be done with this whole mess. I will be here in the morning to retrieve you. Tommy kissed her on the forehead and then walked out and left her there by herself all alone to deal with Child Services. For Tommy knowing that Priscilla wasn’t coming home that night only meant that he was on free time and could go find some action. Already he was wondering what kind of girl he could bring home while Priscilla was at the hospital recovering.

The Child Service Representative walked into the room and introduced herself to Priscilla.

Hi, I am Susan Cummings I am here to talk to you about your baby. I was called in because they tell me you don’t want to keep your Son? Is this correct?

Yes, it is, Priscilla could barely even look at her as they talked. I want to put him up for adoption.

May I ask why you do not want to keep the baby? questioned Susan.

It’s just not a good time for us right now to try to have a family, responded Priscilla.

Maybe that would have been something for you to think about before having sex? This is your son, a human being that you have brought into this world. Ready or not he is here and you’re responsible for his life and his being. Priscilla began to get edgy at her responses,

Look, you have no right to judge me or my boyfriend. We didn’t plan this. It just happened.

Sounds like you didn’t plan anything. I am sure you had lots of fun making this baby, and now you want to hand it off for someone else to raise. Nothing just happens; there is a process in making a baby and consequences for having unprotected sex.

Susan made her point very clear and harshly before leaving Priscilla to her thoughts while she went to talk to nurse Abigail, to try to get some more information. After a few long minutes, Susan returned to Priscilla with some paperwork for her to fill out so she can sign custody of her son over to the state. Once all of that was accomplished Susan asked her one more time if this was what she wanted to do.

Once I file this paperwork, Priscilla, you will not be able to take it back. It will be final and there is nothing I can do about it. Are you sure you want to do this? Priscilla’s face had begun to turn red from her blood pressure and the stress of the situation.

It is best for the baby if I do this. Please understand. This is what I have to do so he can have a chance at a better life. Priscilla was almost in tears. Now if you don’t mind, I need to rest I am exhausted. Susan gathered up all the paperwork and neatly put them in a tan folder that had Jason’s name on it before she walked out of the room.

Once Priscilla was all alone by herself she broke down in tears and cried while sobbing so very hard, feeling the sorrow of her decision. Knowing this was not what she truly wanted to do. Being forced into this decision by the fear she had of Tommy. Not knowing if he would just hurt her or if he would hurt the baby also. Tommy could be so cruel and vindictive. His anger and wrath were without mercy. I should have never done this with him. Feeling stuck now by fear of what he would do to her if she even thought of trying to leave, but living in constant fear of every time she made the slightest mistake. Surely not the life Priscilla had dreamed of. She was starting to fall off to sleep as she needed to get some much-needed rest. For this pregnancy was very stressful, especially considering that he would still beat her and yell at her constantly blaming her for getting pregnant and exploding on her in violent fits of rage at times for even the smallest of things.

Tommy wasted no time getting to the bar scene and scoping out a young girl for the night. He was known for his drinking and drug use, and women were attracted to him for some reason. Perhaps had they known how abusive he was, maybe they would think differently of him. But for Tommy, being out at the bars and picking up women meant he had to show the good side of himself if he was to get what he wanted, even buying rounds at times just to look like a big shot in front of some young pretty girl who obviously would be impressed. Tommy knew how to make an impression and was very charismatic. After a long night of drinking, he took this young girl home with him and had sex with her before waking up late the next morning and telling the strange girl lying next to him to find her way home. He was done with her after he got what he wanted from her. Feeling far from amused as she got up and got dressed. Angered by his words she asked,

Can you at least give me a ride home? She asked after spending the night with him and letting him use her as he did.

I don’t have time to fool with you I have to go get my girlfriend from the hospital, but you can take the bus if you need to, responded the much hung-over Tommy.

Your girlfriend she asked? You have a girlfriend? She responded in shock.

Yes I do and I need to go pick her up, but I did have some fun with you last night while she was gone. Tommy had a very cocky voice and was proud of himself.

How dare you do this to her, and why is she in the hospital?

She had our baby yesterday evening, now if you don’t mind leaving I have to go pick her up now from the hospital. Tommy was being his typical insensitive self.

Oh trust me I am leaving, and I hope I never see the likes of you again. The girl walked out of the room and headed for the door.

Just find your way out and shut up, He was still yelling at her, just before hearing the front door slam shut.

Tommy got himself together and then left to go pick up Priscilla from the hospital where she has been waiting all morning. Finally getting there just before noon, he had hurried her so they could leave and he could get back to the house and try to recover from last night’s fun time. After getting home Priscilla had gone into the bedroom where the smell of sex was still lingering in the air as she got upset knowing now what he had done the night before and why he was late as she grabbed some fresh clothes and went to take a shower. Not saying anything of fear of what Tommy would do to her, she just wept bitterly while she took her shower. How could this man do this to me after giving birth to our first child? Does this man not even care about me? Does he even love me? After getting out of the shower Priscilla went and sat down in the living room before He stopped her and demanded her to go cook him some lunch. Not caring about the pain that she was in. While she was trying to make him his lunch he yelled into the kitchen.

Hey, baby factory, when you’re done cooking my lunch go and change the sheets on our bed.

Priscilla was almost in tears. Yes, of course, I could smell it when I walked in there, Priscilla responded while feeling so sad that he had left the dirty sheets for her to change.

    Smell what?

Nothing Responded Priscilla as she was in way too much pain to take a beating right now and was already regretting that she had even said anything at all.

Just do what I told you baby factory, you’re the maid around here so shut up and do your job. Maybe if your good and do your chores I might even let you pleasure me. He knew that she couldn’t have sex but that didn’t stop him from making her do other things for him. All she wanted to do was rest and recover but she knew he was not going to help her out at all around the house and
