To Everyone who has ever educated me,

taught me, and encouraged me. You are

the reason that I am who I am today.

And to Aaji, if it weren’t for you pushing me

everyday to write, this book wouldn’t be here.

    THANK YOU!!!

    Intro

H ello! I’m the story’s narrator! Isn’t it weird how every single story starts with Once upon a time...? Well, let’s have that discussion some other time, now shall we? For the time being, let’s concentrate on this wonderful story. I don’t really like the name narrator, so let’s try to find something different. How about storyteller? No, too childish. How about the author? I’m not writing this story and it feels like I’m taking credit from the author who is actually writing this story. Okay, last one. How about the narrator? Wait, we already started with that one. Well, narrator it is.

So anyways, this story isn’t just going to be about your lovely narrator (all though it should be if you ask me). This story is about multiple people. Actually, enough people to fill your whole neighborhood. This story has multiple characters that it will take a severely long time for you guys to remember each and everyone of their little and long names. This story has everything that a good story needs. Drama, action, adventure, mystery, thrill. Have I got your attention yet?

Now this story is a mystery. You probably could have guessed it by the title of the book, but I’ll repeat it if you didn’t read the title for any anonymous reason. The main characters of this book are intelligent, good looking, and adventurous. Just what every detective and villain need. Wait, I just spoiled it. Well, not all of it. Just a few parts of the story.

See, now, many times in this story, the good and bad guys are going to feel really bad and might want to quit. But, with optimism and not giving up, these characters achieved whatever they wanted to achieve. Now, before reading this story, I want you, the reader, yes you. I want you to remember never to give up. No matter what the circumstance.

I promise you that the rest of the story won’t be so sappy and weird like the Intro here. Now, you may be wondering, Who are these non-giver-up people that the narrator is talking about?. Well, you’ll just have to find out by reading the drama, action, adventure, mystery, thrill-filled story!!

But, before we get started with the story, I need to fill you out on some background information and history of Candyland. Now, this next part is very confusing so you have to pay close attention. There are many cities in Candyland. Almost all of the cities that will be stated in the story will be in Candyland. When they aren’t, I’ll make sure to tell you.

Candyland’s currency is Candy Coins. Candyland is the only kingdom in the world that uses this currency. Candy Coins aren’t candies that were molded into coins. They are actual coins. Candylandians (people who live in Candyland) eat candies and decorate with them. When they are decorating with candies, they only use the candies for important monuments like The Candy Castle. Candylandians also use candies when decorating for important events such as weddings.

Candyland was part of a kingdom called Taffy States. Taffy States’s government decided that the area that was Candyland was too much to handle. The area that is Candyland was called the worst place in the world. Bad people lived there such as robbers and even killers. Nobody wanted to live there. If anyone did live there, it was probably bad people.

So, Taffy States decided to give the area that was Candyland to the current king of Candyland, Gray. It was very hard for Gray to clean up Candyland. Infact, no one wanted to listen to anything that he told them. Even the police officers (if there were any) wouldn’t listen to him either.

After a few months of hard-work, the king got Candyland the best place in the world. It looked clean and it felt safe. Nobody said anything bad to anyone. In fact, people call Candylandians the nicest people in the world.

Fun Fact! Renaming Candyland was the last thing that the king did. When the king was thinking about what to call Candyland, he made a placeholder. The place holder was The Jelly Belly Land.

Now, I think that you have learned enough about Candyland. Now, without further-ado (and further distractions) we’ll get onto the story. Let’s start the drama, action, adventure, mystery, thrill-filled story!!

    Chapter 1

I t was a cold, stormy, windy night at Candyland. Everyone in The Candy Castle was sound asleep. You could hear snoring in every hallway. The king’s, the queen’s, the servant’s, everyone’s.

Earlier that day, everyone was excited when the king came back to the castle with a massive paycheck. The king had gotten a paycheck from Taffy States, which is not in Candyland. Taffy States is a separate kingdom from Candyland. The government of Taffy States was very impressed with the way that the king of Candyland was handling things at Candyland. They were so impressed that they decided to reward him with a paycheck.

The cooks had made a big meal and the maids had cleaned the castle extra hard and decorated the castle with the king’s favorite candies for the arrival of the king. The butler was organizing everything. The queen was just eagerly waiting for the king’s arrival.

When the king arrived, he was amazed about what everyone did for his arrival. He was so thankful, that when he told everyone about his news, he decided to give each person 2% of his paycheck. As you could imagine, everyone was very happy and they had an enormous party.

Everyone had lots of food since the cooks had prepared lots of delicious food. They also danced a lot since they were all very happy. After eating and dancing, everyone was very tired.

The king and queen are a weird king and queen. Every night before sleeping they would lock the door on the outside of the castle with a lock. So, basically anyone can come into the castle if they just pick the lock.

But, the catch is, that the king and queen have a built in security system. The system had many triggers in different forms such as buttons or strings. If anyone cut a string or pushed a button, an alarm would sound and a message would be sent to the police station immediately. The security system has a switch to turn it on and off. Every night, the king, queen, or someone else that lives in the castle would turn on the security system when everyone went to sleep.

Now, the lock on the outside of the castle was rattling. CLICK! The lock was cracked. The people had access to the castle. They could do whatever their hearts’ desired, other than accessing the security.

    Where you going?

I know where I’m going, okay. It’s not that dark Mira.

I’m sorry. It’s just that I really want that paycheck Steve.

Come’on, I think that the paycheck is this way. The people named Steve and Mira kept walking. Steve was in the front while Mira was in the back. Suddenly, Steve stepped on something. Then, an alarm went off. Like the fire drill type. Except this wasn’t a fire drill. Red lights started flashing everywhere and this big, loud siren was sounding.

What did you do Steve?! Mira asked Steve.

I don’t know! I think that I just alerted the police! Steve replied.

All we had to do was get the money and get out. Is that so hard for you? Mira asked Steve.

I’m sorry, okay. How am I supposed to know that the folks had an alarm? Steve asked Mira.

They’re not folks Steve. They’re the king and queen of Candyland. Mira told Steve.

No one told me that we were stealing from a king and queen. I’m outta here. Steve told Mira, running to the door. Then Mira grabbed him before he could make it.

None of us are leaving until we get the cash. Mira told Steve.

Forget the cash. Just leave. Steve said.

Are you out of your mind? What about Dave and Teresa? We can’t just leave them to die after what they’ve done for us. Mira asked Steve.

Come out with your hands over your head. the police said. Steve started panicking once he heard the sound of the
