    FOREWORD

Itreasure the walk I have had with Bishop Shirley Stanfill, through the trials and tribulations of her ministry. She passed through some of the most difficult challenges any one person could face in carrying out her apostolic mission – from lacking a shelter to being put in jail for refusal to comply with city officials.

She has served at great personal sacrifice. Through all of these ordeals, she always put the interests of those she serves first and foremost, and she has remained faithful. God has rewarded this ministry with the establishment of a facility that now enables her to house drug addicts and homeless families, and to demonstrate in their lives God’s grace.

House of Help has fed not only bodies but the minds and spirit of the hundreds of lives Pastor Johnson has touched through the House of Help City of Hope ministry.

This inspirational book tells of her journey – in her own words and own unique style. It is a testimony as to how challenges can be confronted and how lives can be transformed by those who are faithful. It serves as a powerful example for us all.

    FOREWORD

Bishop Shirley Stanfill is a modern day Queen Esther. She has come to the kingdom for such a time as this. She has the spirit of Issachar, and understands the times. As a nation, we have been brought to our knees by chemical dependence, and few people are willing to give up everything to be able to address the mere problem of our time. Drugs and alcohol are responsible for loss of life, loss of self-respect and the breakup of families across this nation. It takes a total commitment and passion for people to work in a field that changes on a daily basis. You must be willing to stand in faith and hope even when you’re surrounded by a lack of resources and lack of people to help you make a difference.

The question was asked in the Bible, Who will go? The answer to that question is Bishop Shirley Stanfill. The stories in this book will make you cry, laugh and wonder why someone would give up everything, for people that may not make it out. Within her, she knew if only one person could be saved, it would be worth it all. Because of her faithfulness, there have been many lives that are now living victorious off drugs and alcohol. They have become respected citizens of the community, some even running businesses that Pastor Shirley set up.

She not only taught them how to fish, she went a step further and showed them how they could buy the pond. Pastor Shirley made them believe in themselves. She impacted and empowered their lives even at the risk of losing her own life. In reading this book, you will no longer see the situation as hopeless, but hopeful. Yes, the stories are true. There are witnesses to back it up. There is evidence of this experience. They are clean, happy and living victorious in Christ Jesus.

    SEEN GLORY UNTOLD STORY

ATESTIMONY FOR THOSE WHO KNOW THEY HAVE A CALLING OR VISION FROM GOD

    BISHOP SHIRLEY STANFILL

Formally known as Bishop Shirley Holloway

    INTRODUCTION

When Satan’s works are destroyed, the glory of God can be revealed. Even after the rapture, Satan will still be allowed to perform his works. It is not Satan we need to defeat, we need to defeat his works, and when we do that, he can no longer do anything to us; he’s rendered powerless. That is how the power and the glory of God are able to penetrate the works of Satan.

The fruits of the Spirit, love, peace, joy, gentleness, longsuffering and happiness, are agents to destroy the works of the flesh. The armor protects us from the works, but the fruits of the Spirit protect us from the flesh. When we operate in the Spirit, the flesh is hindered. In contrast, when we operate in the flesh, the Spirit is hindered. The flesh has been created to hide the glory of God. That is what Adam tried to hide in the garden, his flesh. When we walk in the Spirit, there is nothing to hide.

When we, as God’s people, allow the Spirit of God to prevail in our lives, the works of Satan become futile and are all in vain, allowing our original state as children of God to show the glory of God. We must be as wise as serpents to his ways. We must guard ourselves from his works by putting on our armor: our breastplate of integrity, our helmet of salvation, our belt of truth, and our shield of faith. We must use all of these weapons against the works of Satan. We cannot be ignorant to his devices. When we know the story, then the glory of God is clear and evident. My story, being humbled for the process to answer the call, mustering up the determination, overcoming the fear, allowing me to pay the price and go through the fiery trials. Then God begins to exalt as we wait for the harvest in our next move.

God bless you, and may God speak to your heart, your spirit and your soul as you read the story of the seen glory.

    CHAPTER 1:

    THE EXALTED BECOME HUMBLED

I was on my way to the shelter to speak on Thanksgiving of 1995. I had a good Word. I had studied all day, and as I arrived at the shelter I was dressed in my fur coat and hat and the standard amount of jewelry, about $5000 worth. I had a new Chrysler parked outside. Once I got to the shelter, however, my countenance dropped. I suddenly realized this was not my normal church group, and these women had major troubles, and most of them couldn’t even be trusted. They were all victims of drug addiction, homelessness, low self-esteem, and most of them had no family. As I walked through the halls, they came to greet me, but I could only muster up about half a hug, as I tightly clutched my coat and pocketbook.

As I preached that evening, and did my regular How Jesus can save you and change your life, I looked into their listening eyes and saw their questions, but how was I going to do it was my unspoken question. They were so far gone, their bodies, minds and emotions were all fighting against them. How was I going to do it? As I was leaving the
