FOREWORD

I count this as an honor for me to write a foreword for a stimulating, hopeful, and encouraging book by my sister in Christ, Yvonne Holland. I have seen great strength and insight from God through her life as a Christian.

I found myself reading page after page of this unpublished manuscript for which I now, with enthusiasm, offer a word or two. This book really caught my attention and I was touched by the testimonies of the people sharing their life story of pain, hurt, fears, and discouragement. I was moved by what she said most poignantly, "The most shocking aspects of my revelation was the discovery that both believers and unbelievers dwell in the abyss of the living dead."

Many people fail to face their fears, problems, and reality of life. I have come to understand one cannot fix what one will not face or confront. Often, it is only when one finds himself drowning in his uncertainties, doubts, and fears that he reaches out to God for help. In fact, I was moved by the testimony of Eva and how she lost everything, including her children. However, God took her hidden pains and turned them into a treasure of healing and wholeness.

I can only hope and pray that Christians and unbelievers who come to possess this book, draw from the amazing spiritual truths contained in its pages. Thank you, Yvonne Holland, for allowing the Holy Spirit to give this message of hope and encouragement to us, and to the world. God loves you and so do I!

Janene – You are always so composed, unfazed. Your carefree spirit has taught me to relax and take things in stride. Following your unvexed mindset, I have learned to pursue the state of calm. I have learned that whatever is not a bad word, it is sometimes the peace and serenity I need. Thank you for teaching me to pursue peace.

Darin and Lisa – you are my silent partners. You say very little at times, but what you do say, speaks volumes. You represent something I have desired for years: consistency and commitment. During my darkest days, you were always there for me. You said what I needed to hear, you prayed with and for me, and you never judged me. For that I am so grateful.

Greg – what can I say? Dude, you make me laugh and as you say, you keeps it real. You have taught me the resilient spirit needed to unabashedly take a stand and not waver. Because of you, I have learned to be content on an island. Thank you.

Lisa – you are my favorite bully. Even when I have resolved to forget about it, throw in the towel, or leave it alone, somehow you manage to coax me to get back on track. You have held my hand and talked me down more times than you know. I appreciate the gift of transparency we share. It has allowed my light to shine a little brighter through the years.

Micah and Kathryn – through you God granted me the gift of motherhood. Parenting you presented me with challenges, rewards, and lessons. One of the most poignant discoveries I made as a parent embodies the power of forgiveness. You have taught me the importance of forgiving and living in the state of forgiveness. Thank you for the privilege of learning such a lesson.

People enter our lives for a variety of reasons. Some whisk by, others stay a while, and others remain forever. Yet, there are those who leave us too quickly, but they leave an indelible mark upon us. I wish to acknowledge a few gone too soon, but remain with me always people. They include: H. N.
