Chapter 4. Meeting in the Dungeon

The World of Monad, the continent of Wend, Felis Kingdom of Iis, 6020 from the creation of the world by the goddess Monad

The ‘Spider and Kitties’ team completed all the necessary documents to receive the new quest, packed their things and hit the road. The shortcut to Neris, which was about eighty miles from Talvel, required going underground. Of course, it was possible to use public intercity transport, but then the journey would take longer. After all, the transport went with all stops, stopping at different settlements. And the road through the dungeon was actually straight.

Dungeons with Monsters were a network of underground corridors. In ancient times, according to legends, Monsters had not yet attacked the felises, cities were built without fear next to the entrances to the dungeons. In addition, underground it was convenient to move between populated areas.

Later, for unknown reasons, Monsters began to attack the felises. Therefore, local authorities had to close many of the entrances to the dungeons for security reasons. Since then, there are few entrances to the dungeon.

It was impossible to completely close all underground entrances. Because, despite all the problems caused by the Monsters, in the dungeons the Adventurers obtained artifacts used in the daily life of the felises. And for a long time, felises, arakuns, and varnases lived in a state of periodic struggle with Monsters.

...Lacrima, Yaya and Daina left Talvel and reached the nearest entrance to the dungeon. Having gone downstairs, the girls found themselves in a spacious stone corridor. It, like all the other corridors of the dungeons, was illuminated with the help of luminous crystals that ‘grew’ under the ceiling.

Neither the felises, nor the varnases, much less the arakuns that ‘fell’ from the sky, had reliable information about where the dungeons and Monsters came from. But according to one of the legends, the dungeons and Monsters were created in ancient times by the goddess Monad.

But then the hearts of the Monsters were captured by darkness, and they began to attack the felises. Someone said that the darkness in the hearts of the Monsters appeared due to the fact that they were proud of their strength. And someone said that darkness was placed in their hearts by the dark goddess Nightmare, Monad’s rival, who reigns in the Land of Eternal Night. Perhaps the Monsters became evil for other reasons. Nobody knew the truth now. At least none of the felises, varnases and arakuns.

But when the Monsters began to attack the felises, and they killed them in defense, the felises realized that artifacts ‘dropped’ from the dead Monsters. And for a long time, Adventurers collected artifacts dropped from killed Monsters.

Lacrima, Yaya and Daina carefully looked around in search of Monsters. Having made sure that the path was clear, the girls, according to the route on the dungeon map, headed forward.

The further they moved away from the entrance, the less energetic and paler Yaya became.

Yaya, are you feeling okay? Maybe we should go back? Lacrima worried.

No, everything is fine... My belly just hurts, she answered.

Did you eat something wrong? her friend asked again.

No, I just started my period today, came the answer. I’ll take some medicine now.

Yaya took a small glass bottle of painkillers from her shoulder bag and washed down one tablet with water from a small flask hanging on her belt.
