About this ebook

Most people don’t know how powerful their imagination is. Your mind has the ability to draw you a picture of your possible future and create a strategy and plan that will transform your dreams into reality. Learning to think constructively, creatively, or even critically is something that can change the trajectory, accomplishments, and impact of life’s journey. This kind of higher thinking needs a guide, coach, and encouragement. This book: Thought Engineering, can serve as those things as it will inspire and challenge you to use the most underused muscle in the human body, the mind.

    Dedication

I want to dedicate this book to all the essential workers, entrepreneurs, community leaders and all who did their part in slowing the virus in the 2019 and 2020 global pandemic. I want to give a very special thanks to those who served in the medical field during those unprecedented times.

    Special Thanks

Every day I’m challenged to reach my goals, and that challenge comes from my family, my BOCA congregation, and my staff. Responsibility demands action, and creative people need inspiration. I truly realize that you are my inspiration, and you all make me feel appreciated and necessary. It’s your motivation that’s pushing me to impact the world. Also, a special thanks to my editing arm Erica Nicole Williams.

    Introduction

I’m still fascinated with skyscrapers. You know, those tall buildings with 80 to 150 floors. Who comes up with this stuff, and how does it get from concept to reality? I’ve learned many people and entities are involved in building these mammoth structures. It takes city and state officials, zoning boards, construction teams, and designers; however, I want to focus on the engineers. These are the people who calculate to determine the feasibility and requirements of a project. It’s the engineers that answer the complex question of how it can happen. Faith says; all things are possible, and then engineers go to work to figure out how. Visionaries provide us with the ‘what.’ They come up with ideas that will be a part of our everyday lives in the future. Planners and strategists answer the question of when. They give themselves to determining schedules and work hours. Business people and investors tackle the why, and usually, the answer to this question is to make money. It is really surprising that money is the motivating factor behind most things. But engineers tell us how.

When building anything great, everything that needs to happen from concept to finished product must be determined before a site is chosen or a hole is dug. Not one brick is ever laid or an ounce of concrete poured without an engineer building the entire structure in thought. The superstructure is built in an invisible world long before someone rides the elevator to the 75th floor. The issues of weight distribution, the depth of the foundation, the building materials, electrical wiring, plumbing, fire safety systems, stairways, heating and cooling, esthetics, and interior and exterior design are all merged in the mind of an engineer, and with time you can realize what has been imagined.

The process of thought to reality operates in much the same way. In the next 20 thousand words, I want to examine how thoughts are engineered. If thoughts become a reality, how do thoughts become thoughts? How are they made, and can a person be trained to think a certain way that would continuously produce a reality much like their thinking pattern? I will attempt to answer the question of how are thoughts engineered? What are the requirements needed to think a certain way? How can you get what’s needed, and where do you get it from? Most importantly, I’ll give instructions that will allow you to embrace the life you desire as a result of how you train yourself to think.

    Chapter 1

    Everything Begins With A Thought

Allow me to explain how anyone does anything. Everything begins with a thought. The alarm clock goes off at 6:00 am, and there you are, laying there, and your control center cranks up. Huuuummmm, let me see, what do I want to do today? This thought triggers another thought that says: What do I need to do right now so I can accomplish what I want to do today? Later that day, you are riding a horse, shopping, working, running a mile, or whatever your passion drove you to do, and it all began with a thought. In this scenario, a person’s desires control their thoughts, but most people’s lives are planned out for them based on decisions made years ago in school to get their education or not.

Some of the concepts that I’ll discuss in this book may be hard for some to comprehend. Not because of the deep and complex content but because many people have existence but don’t have a life where thinking is necessary. Go to work, go home, eat, sleep, go to work, go home, eat, sleep and repeat. There may be a few more stops along the way, but generally, people go home to eat, sleep and bathe. Then they go to work to provide funds to continue the cycle. When this is the case, not only do they not have time to think, but thinking isn’t really required to simply repeat this cycle for 30-40 years and then retire. We should never surrender our privilege to think for ourselves. In our lives, we make room and time for just about everything but thinking. However, if we gave more time to it, many of the other things we’re doing we would do better and some things we wouldn’t do at all.

I love technology and how it can simplify our lives in many ways, but when
