Advance Praise for Meditation in a Time of Madness
Meditation in a Time of Madness, provides a new awareness of the need to have tools to access that inner state that’s similar to the ‘Peace that Defies Understanding.’ This peaceful or calmer state can be achieved while in the midst of turmoil, upheaval, loss, grief, threats to people of good conscience, families and communities of color, global threat, whether manmade or in balance in our ecosystems. From there we can think clearer and be more decisive about the appropriate necessary actions needed to shift us out of a state of manmade madness.
—Thaddeus Gamory, Police Lieutenant, NYPD (retired)
Dr. Carol Penn is a calming spirit in a time of manufactured chaos. Meditation in a Time of Madness is not about being quiet, but rather how do we protect ourselves from the polluted mundane? It’s a triumphant testimonial of the journey we must all take to self-love. While so many of us have been thrown overboard, washed ashore, and challenged by life’s uncertainty, let Dr. Penn’s rhythmic dance of words and wise guidance inspire us to be more than who we ever thought we were, in this moment.
—Gilda Rogers is the author of Out of the Ashes Came Hope, Arrested Development: The State of Black Achievement and Education, and Fearless: A Bold Approach to Reinventing Your Life

—K. DuBois, Educator and Caregiver
Our world is in crisis and as an educator I see that on a daily basis. Kids are turned off and tuned into their electronic devices and it is not always easy to remain positive and hopeful in my profession. Ten days with Dr. Carol helped me to reset my mindset and my spirit. I am forever grateful to this warm and wonderful soul that I now have the privilege to call my friend. This book is important for all of those who wish to bring light into our world and help Carol on her mission. We collectively have the power to create change.
—Jill, A Blessed Lion Queen, Educator

About the Author
Foreword
My sisterfriend and colleague, Dr. Carol Penn has written a book that is both timeless and timely and so important for families living in today’s challenging times. In her preface, she writes, I am writing this book because I do not want to feel helpless in front of some faceless enemy that seems to be both everywhere and nowhere all at once… I am writing this book because I will not give up my power so easily. I am writing this book because I am not helpless.
She is absolutely right. We are living in a moment driven by fear and ignorance, where truth has been trivialized, deemed meaningless, or worst still, irrelevant. Simultaneously, we are living in the information age,
with ceaseless streams of media alerts, tweets, Facebook likes, breaking news, and the ability to curate our own reality through technology. This
