Steading the Ark of God - Antone B. Giovanini Jr.

    Dedication

These books is consisting of Steading the Ark of God, and The Book of Joseph, Second edition, I Antone B. Giovanini, dedicate unto my beautiful wife Anita Gonzalez Giovanini, who has inspired me so much over the 61 years she consented to be my faithful wife. Dedicated to 6 sons, a daughter, 15 grandchildren, and 23 great – grandchildren.

]The books, Steading the Ark of God, and The Book of Joseph, second edition, go hand and hand together, because what I find from the scriptures and other sources is supplemental, by the Revelations the Lord has given me. He has clarified scriptures and doctrine, and has expressed His views clearly on the problems that we face in the church today.

    Introduction

    1 Chronicles 13:9-10

2 Samuel 6:6-7 And when they came to Nachon’s threshing floor , Uzzah put forth his hand to the Ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook it. And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the Ark of God.

Doctrine and Covenants 85:8 While that man, who was called of God and appointed, that putteth forth his hand to steady the Ark of God, shall fall by the shaft of death like as a tree that is smitten by the vivid shaft of lightening.

The question is what is the essence of the Ark of God? The Ark of the Old Testament Contained the Basic Law of God, the two tablets containing the Ten Commandments.

The Ark of God today has to be the words of God as contained in the scriptures as in the Ark of old that contain the law of God – Our scriptures today are the Ark of God.

    Doctrine and Covenants 42:59 Thou shalth take the things which thou hast received, which have been given unto thee in my scriptures for a law, to be my law to govern my church;

Uzzah’s death in the old testament is symbolic of D & C 85:8. Uzzah was not authorized of God to touch the ark that contained the law of God. Today no man can take it upon himself to touch or alter the Law of God.

Once God’s law is spoken by his own words through Jesus Christ or any of his prophets and becomes scripture as in the Standard Works – No Man or Men are authorized to change the Law of God.

There was a warning given at the end of many different books of the Bible of tampering with the words written therein and this injunction would equally apply to any revelations and scripture given by the Lord. If any man shall add unto these things God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: and if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life. (Revelation 22:18-19, Deuteronomy 4:2, 13:32; Proverbs 30:5-6; Mathhew 5:19)

Scripture is added by revelation through his prophets: (Jeremiah 36:27-32; 2 Timothy 3:16; Numbers 12:6, Amos 3:7; Joel 2:28-32)

The Lord knows the weakness of men and men’s tendency to tamper with that which God has given us as Scripture.

"And after they go forth by the hand of the twelve apostles of the Lamb, from the Jews unto the Gentiles, thou seest the foundation of a great and abominable church which is most abominable above all other churches; for behold they have taken away from the Gospel of the Lamb many parts which are plain and most precious; and also many covenants of the Lord have they taken away. (1 Nephi 13:20-29)

The Lord knows the people of his church and the inherent weaknesses of man. Through the ages men have tampered, feeling their wisdom is greater than that of God. Prophets have seen this and have clearly warned men of the consequences.

Jesus Christ, himself, prophesied of our day and of the church of our day and stated: And thus commandeth the father that I should say unto you: at that day when the Gentiles shall sin against my gospel, (Note: you cannot sin against that which you do not have or have not given in the first place so this has to refer to the members of the church.) And shall reject the fullness of my gospel, and shall be lifted up in the pride of their hearts above all nations, and above all the people of the whole earth, and shall be filled with all manner of lyings, and of deceits and of mischiefs, and all manner of hypocrisy, and murders, and priestcrafts, and whoredoms, and of secret abominations; and if they shall do those things, And shall reject the fullness of my gospel , behold saith the father, I will the fullness of my gospel from among them. (3 Nephi 16:10)

There are those who feel the references are to those Gentiles outside the church need to read D & C 101:39-40 When men are called unto mine everlasting gospel, and covenant with an everlasting covenant, they are accounted as the salt of the earth and the savor of men; They are called to be the savor of men; therefore, if that salt of the earth lose its savor, behold, it is thenceforth good for nothing only to be cast out and trodden under the feet of men. Now read 3 Nephi 16:15 which says but if they (the Gentiles) will not turn unto me, and hearken unto my voice, I will suffer my people, O house of Israel, that they shall go through among them, and shall tread them down, and they shall be as salt that halt lost its savor, which is thenceforth good for nothing but to be cast out, and be trodden under foot of my people, O house of Israel. You have to be a member of the church to be accounted as salt that has savor. Thus the Gentiles the Lord refers to in 3rd Nephi are the Gentile church members and no one else in this reference of 3 Nephi 16:10!

Steadying the Ark of God is not only tampering with the scriptures, but changing covenants, Ignoring commandments clearly given in the scriptures, setting forth rules and laws not sanctioned by the scriptures, and the unrighteousness use of authority.

Joseph Smith saw this and said concerning the last days: At that time men will be called into high positions in the church, because of their great money and education, whereas those who are true followers of Christ will be persecuted and cut off from the church. (Mosiah Hancock Journal – As related to him personally by Joseph Smith)

In the Doctrine and Covenants, section 112:24-26 the Lord clearly states what is to happen. Behold; vengeance cometh speedily upon the inhabitants of the earth, a day of wrath, a day of burning, a day of desolation, of weeping, of mourning, and of Lamentation; as a whirlwind I shall come upon all the face of the earth, saith the Lord. And upon my house shall it begin, and from my house shall it go forth, saith the Lord; first among those among you, saith the Lord, who have professed to know my name and have not known me, and have blasphemed against me in the midst of my house saith the Lord. (Also see 1 Peter 4:17-18 and Revelation to Wilford Woodruff dated Jan 26, 1880 – Verses 24, 25 and 31 (all repeat this prophecy))

The Lord has repeated this same message four times in virtually the same words. We are under judgement and condemnation by God for our actions! This Book – Steadying the Ark of God is devoted to documenting why!

    Chapter 1

    Scriptures Changed

When scriptures are changed, there are two ways involved. The first involves actually changing the words and meaning. This does not however involve spelling corrections and punctuation that are needed for clear understanding of the scriptures. These are necessary changes.

The second way of changing scripture is totally ignore the commands of the scripture and set up your own program based upon man’s wisdom and administrative directives that are contrary to the scriptures as found in the standard scriptural texts. This is the most common way of changing scriptures. This is discussed fully in chapter 8 and will not be dealt with at this point.

Jerald and Sandra Tanner did an exhaustive search of the changes in the book of Mormon from the 1830 edition to the current edition. They found 3,913 changes, This charge is true, I reviewed every single one of these changes and nearly every one was strictly a spelling change to the current English of today or grammatical case (who or whom) for example (is or was) or many other grammar corrections to make the text more readable. Redundant phrases such as It came to pass and unnecessary articles such as a were deleted as they did not add to the clarification of the text of the Book of Mormon.

Language always is in flux and spelling of words changes as well as grammar over a period of time. This is one of the problems with the King James Version of the Bible. For example one of the changes in the Book of Mormon is changing the current word of the Nineteenth Century of SAITH to the current word

    SAID.

In reviewing the Changes in the Book of Mormon, the Lord gave me the power of discernment and I testify of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon.

There were only two changes that the spirit of the Lord told me were not approved out of 3,913 changes.

In commenting on these changes, these are the errors of well intentioned men who in only two cases went a little bit too far. This is in essence what happen to the changes in the Bible over the last 2,000 to 3,000 years by well intentioned men. The Lord is not concerned over grammar or spelling as long as meanings are not changed and the message is not changed. Joseph Smith wrote in the accepted English of his day 165 years ago. This should not shake the testimony of anyone. Even the two changes do not change the essence or truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. This I testify of!

In the two following changes the original is in Parenthesis and the added word is underlined – if any.

I want it clearly understood this first change I comment on WAS NOT FOUND BY THE TANNERS! I was made aware of this change from another source and it was verified by comparing the original text.

2 Nephi 30:6 And then shall they rejoice; for they shall that it is a blessing unto them from the hand of God; and their scales of Darkness shall begin to fall from their eyes; and many generations shall not pass away among them, save they shall be a (white) pure and (a) delightsome people.

Comments: This change came about after the 1974 edition of the book of Mormon. The a deleted neither adds or detracts from the translation , but the word pure does not translate into white. This scripture has to do with the Lamanites and it refers to their skin color. A person can be pure of heart and a pure man or woman of God such as Samuel the Lamanite Prophet. This is unacceptable as it changes the original meaning.

There is further documentation on the error of this change from the word white to pure. In the book Unpublished Revelations which is gathered from church archives is an unpublished revelation of Joseph Smith (Part 10) found on page 57. This revelation was given to Joseph Smith West of Jackson County, Missouri, on July 17, 1831. Verse 4 state: Verily, I say unto you, that the wisdom of man is his fallen state, knoweth not the purposes and the privileges of my holy priesthood, but ye shall know then ye receive a fullness by reason of the anointing: for it is my will, that in time, ye should take unto your wives of the Lamanites and Nephites, that their posterity many become white, delightsome and just, for even now their females are more virtuous than the gentiles.

This revelation makes it clear that the original word white was exactly what was intended by the Lord. His truth is established by two or three witnesses. The Original Book of Mormon is one witness and the revelation given to Joseph Smith in 1831 by the Lord giving exactly the same wording establishes the truthfulness of the word of the Lord using the word WHITE!

Other changes do not change the original meaning except the next example.

In this next change, I can only give my utmost praise to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day saints. In the 1974 edition of the Book of Mormon the Phrase And shall reject the fullness of my Gospel. referring to the Gentiles in 3 Nephi 16:10 was deleted. In the current edition (1981 and later editions) this Phrase is in total conformity with the 1830 edition! I can only subscribe this to a possible editing error.

So much for the Tanners and their claims in regard to the Book of Mormon. THEIR CLAIMS DO NOT STAND UP TO THE LIGHT OF DAY!

Well intentioned individuals can make havoc of many things in the scriptures. It appears that there are problems such as sanitizing history to take out parts that might give a negative reflection or two on some incidents in History. The sanitizer should understand that the only perfect human being on this earth was Jesus Christ. Every other mortal including Joseph Smith were mortal men with weaknesses. Joseph never claimed perfection for himself and was all of us striving to perfect himself. The sanitizer would exclude Joseph ever taking a drink or smoking for example. It was not the Law of the Church during his life time! Joseph Smith was one of the greatest prophets that ever lived, but they should show him as a great human being with a weakness or two that we all have. This is itself should give hope to us.

It should well be remembered Paul who persecuted the Saints unto death became such a great Apostle of the Lord. Or Alma and the Sons of Mosiah who did as Paul did, yet became great missionaries and men of God equal to the accomplishments of Paul. Of Peter the great Apostle who denied Christ three times and who lead the Church after the Lord’s death and who himself died on a cross in Rome. History is legion with men of God, who were human, yet gave their all to the Lord and his Gospel. We have no right to re-write history and to exclude the truths of our great leaders that they jus happened be human beings just like the rest of us who had things they had to over come.
