    Foreword

I enjoy writing poetry. It’s hard work, but I enjoy it nonetheless. I believe poetry allows the reader to be touched in ways that pros rarely can. The imagery and rhythmicity and rhyming (when it is present), if properly applied, can bring forth emotions or stimulate thought often in a near visceral sense. One of the nice things about poetry is that the poet’s input simply starts the process the reader will experience. The real value and truth of poetry is the reader’s interpretation. What each individual reader gets from the poem is valid and real, and is an authentic interpretation even if it is not particularly what the author had in mind. Thoughts and emotions are personal and always authentic.

I have tried to craft my poems carefully. Some of them are, on the surface, a bit opaque and some are not. Some are serious or sad and some are light and some are outright frivolous. I have made sure that all of my poems have a musicality to them, and I would suggest that, in order to fully capture this, you read them aloud even if you just whisper them.

I have written this book and its predecessor, Moonlight
