Ernie Anderson

Ernest L. Anderson (Ernie) grew up in a large family in the small village of Fairlea, West Virginia. After retirement from Local Union 666 of The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, he found that he had time to pursue his interest in writing. His first novel, The Release of the Albatross was published in 2002 and is available in bookstores everywhere. Another book published in 2003, Whispers from the Hills, he fulfills a long time goal to share his poetry with all who would read it.

    Ghost Town

    It was a sunny day in June and there in that sleepy town I found that there was no one else around. From the restaurant no odor filled the skis; neither did coal dust from the coal yard fill my eyes. What manner of town is this I implore, as I just then began to explore? Armed with my curious mind I muttered about, stopped short and elevated my ear, what is that I hear, was that a bang or a shout? Returning to my search I took a look therein that town in every cranny and in every nook. Though look I did, none could I find, an ointment or a salve of another kind that would calm my nerves and ease my mind.

    What manner of town is this, when clearly there is something amiss? I’ve searched this town now high and low and no one has appeared neither above nor below. Down the road trod I to take yet another look, fully baffled now by no sound, continued I to look around to see if anything therein could be found in the depths of this empty town. A futile search I could plainly see, I’ll take my leave now from this town, but no ticket master there was around, though I was fully in agreement now with me. No train was there upon the absent track and though the bus stop was there, the bus it did lack. No cab was found there in that town, the city limits there within and whats more than that had probably never been a cab therein. I could forget
