Autumn
Summer’s gone and autumn’s come
And all the leaves will fall
It’s like a half forgotten song
Whose words you can’t recall
Winter winds are drawing near
But soon your heart will sing
For all the colors you hold dear
Will reappear again in spring!
Daybreak
Fog seems to cover the land like a shroud,
till the first ray of sunshine bursts through the cloud.
The forests that were so quiet and dark,
echo with the sounds of a song by a lark.
Flowers and berries, that quietly grew,
sparkle in the sun, heavy with dew.
Some people go to work, while others will pray,
this is the start of another lovely day.
Dues
The rush of silence to my brain
stops me from quietly going insane.
Songs of country music, especially Johnny Cash
stop me from doing something that’s rash.
You can lie down and as at the sky you stare,
if He doesn’t answer, doesn’t mean He don’t care.
It’s true, that no matter how you strive,
you never manage to get off this world alive.
And as you lie there and think about your past,
the Good Lord has made His blessings last.
So think about it as you ponder the blues,
what did you do, to pay your dues?
End of a dream!
My heart it sings, sometimes it cries
My love has wings and than it flies
Than all my tears fall into the sea
And now I pray she’ll return to me
But as time goes by, year by year
Gone is the love that I felt for her
I’ve lived on dreams that I can’t forget
Once tears of joy are tears of regret
Now daylight comes with a golden gleam
Gone is my life, gone is my dream!
Hatred or love?
All this human suffering touches this heart of mine
As I would hope that it touches thine
No matter how we plead and pray to the Lord above
I believe that hatred has replaced the word of love!
Midnight on the homestead
Moonlight shines across the land
Distant hills can still be seen
Silvery sheds silently stand
Where once a town has been
Nothing there but barren ground
The town folks long since gone
No laughter here, not a sound
I wonder what went wrong.
Mountain range
Dark clouds in the sky above
I hear the rolling thunder
My grandson’s eyes so full of love
I look at him and wonder
Will life to him be hard or kind
Will he have someone to love
We can plan, but we will find
It’s in the hands of God above!
We are a rock!
The news we watch each day it is rather dire
Houses and lives are lost in a raging fire
A retired newsman and his wife, the only names I know
Both have lost their lives in the fire’s mighty glow
Seven thousand people have lost all they ever knew
And it is said some fires were started by but a few
But we must go on and we must dry our eyes
We are a rock, we are an island, and an island never cries!
Little dreams!
Now there’s a moon in the sky
Wish friends and your neighbours goodbye!
The moon and the distant old stars
They quietly shine from afar
The sandman he carries your dreams
Down on a silvery beam
Sleep now my darling, good night
Sleep in the star spangled light
Let dreams carry all your little cares away
Tomorrow is another lovely, lovely day
The moon and the distant old stars
They quietly shine from afar
The sandman carries your dreams
Way down on a silvery beam
So sleep now my darling, good night
Just sleep in the star spangled light
Let dreams carry you away
Tomorrow will be another day
Let dreams carry all your little cares away
Tomorrow is another lovely, lovely day.
12%20Apostles%2c%20Vic.JPGAbout a man on death row
On golden wings!
For thirty years I sat and slowly waited
For the hanging man and for his rope
But now my soul it feels just so elated
As the Lord has given me so much hope
Even if the hangman comes tomorrow
In the morning sun around five
I’ll end my life today without much sorrow
For God has promised me a brand new life
And as a child of six or maybe seven
I wanted to live my life just like a brave
But now at one and nearly sixty seven
I give thanks to God for what He gave
And I will give thanks today oh my Lord
For my heart today it truly sings
And in the sky I can see the eagle flying
As he soars along on golden wings
And I regret now the life I’ve taken
I’d like to atone for all my sins
For my soul now it has awakened
Once it flew around just like the wind.
And I give thanks today oh my Lord
For my heart today it truly sings
And in the sky
