FOREWORD
THOSE WHO SEEK THE BLESSED company of truly righteous persons are treading the path to The Ultimate Objective. The Holy Quran commands the people of faith to strive hard in the way of Allah SWT and urges to ceaselessly pursue all means which might enable and enlighten them in developing true understanding of The Creator (Al-Quran 5:35). This needs to be kept in perspective while going through this absorbing effort by the author Ms. Bushra Zulfiqar.
Indeed, it is a priviledge for me to be endorsing this book whose subject is closest to my heart’n soul. The author has elegantly developed the sequence of this marvellous account and skillfully related her experience of life in the company of a blessed friend of Allah SWT, Qalandar Pak Hazrat Syed Safdar Hussain Bokhari (RA) famously known as Kakianwali Sarkar
. This blessed ascetic person of exalted rank belonged to a rare Sufi order called Malamtia (The Sect of Blame)
. Developing real perception of this illustrious and lofty personality may have been very difficult for many people including myself, had we not met and listened to his(RA) ‘Spiritual Successor’, Mr Syed Shakir Uzair. In the current times, marred by distress, hopelessness, frustration, agony and disease, this distinguished and mystical personality (Qalandar Pak RA) has emerged as the saviour and beacon of hope towards salvation, divine enlightenment, as well as the source of true happiness in life. He(RA) emphasized on the message of ‘Sincere love for the Humanity at large’ by subscribing a method of listening to the recitation of Surah Al-Rehman by Qari Abdul Basit Abdul Samad (RA). To all seekers of the Ultimate Truth, I strongly urge to visit www.alrehman.com for further insight on this sublime experience of the journey towards divine nearness.
The author has very aptly unravelled her saga of transformation and discovery; the process of evolution which brought her the much-cherished sense of divine fulfillment in the blessed company of Qalandar Pak (RA). This convincing book establishes a palatable academic chronicle about devout following of the friends of Allah SWT (Aulia Karam RA). The author effectively expounds the essence of Islamic traditions of compassion, love and empathy, which are subtly nurtured in a person by the revered people like Qalandar Pak (RA), and who have been accepted in the The Ultimate Court as His loved ones (The People of Qurb – Muqarrab). May Allah SWT accept this effort of bringing out the real focus of following and treading the path of true understanding.

CHAPTER 1
Meeting Syed
Baba Jaan Jee
IT WAS THE YEAR 2007 when I was a fresh university graduate. I had done my Masters only a year back and was working at Ministry of Education located in sector G-8, Islamabad as a Program Officer. My life was going on a smooth pattern. Apparently I was happy, living in my own bubble. Life had taken on its course; there was the usual combination of highs and lows, good time and hard times, success and failures. As such I did not have any desire to get to know, meet or get closer to Sufiah-e-Karam (friends of Allah).
My youngest of us four sisters Sidra was doing her Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Fatima Jinnah University. She was going through a difficult phase of her life. She had been engaged to somebody outside of our family and it was proving to be a really challenging and difficult experience. My sister was suffering from depression and had high levels of stress. One of her friends at Fatima Jinnah University gave her the message of Surah Al-Rehman, in order to help her. I came to know about it as both Sidra and I shared the same bedroom. At night-time, she used to play Surah Al-Rehman with earplugs on and go into a deep state of concentrated listening. I did not know what was playing on the mp3 player but it fascinated me. Upon my asking, she shared it was Surah Al-Rehman and she would listen it for seven consecutive days as per the prescribed method. She finished listening for seven days and one fine evening as I came home from office, I saw my mother, both my eldest sister Sadaf and Sidra getting ready to go attend Dua. Sidra shared with me after listening to Surah Al-Rehman, anyone can go attend a gathering, which is called Dua, and meet Baba Jee. He is a spiritual person and prays for everybody. I heard casually and said ‘OK go ahead. I am tired after work and will stay home.‘ I stayed back and found myself thinking; I offer my prayers regularly. I am close enough to Allah and whatever I desire, I believe in from asking my Creator directly. I don’t really need to go to any spiritual personality to seek help. My family members returned very late from Dua that night and I had fallen asleep. Next morning, I enquired from them ‘how was it?’ They said ‘it was very nice but strange because we do not remember anything what Baba Jee said. Everyone fell asleep including us. But we do feel very relaxed and light.’
I was not immediately committal but couple of days later, I had a rough day at work and felt very disturbed. I asked Sidra ‘can I also go to attend Dua and meet with Baba Jee?’ She said first you have to listen to Surah Al-Rehman for seven days according to prescribed method. I felt hope and a desire rose inside my heart to listen. She explained me the prescribed method and for next seven days each night, before going to sleep I closed my eyes and listened to Surah Al-Rehman in the voice of Qari Abdul Basit. At the end, I recited Allah thrice, took water in three sips and felt very relaxed. I have to confess first three days my concentration was poor. As soon as the audio started, all random thoughts used to run to my mind and distract me. With the blessings of Allah Almighty, I continued listening for seven days. After third day, I felt an improvement in my concentration and for the first time experienced a shiver inside my body which ran across my head to toe. After then I started enjoying the recitation. As soon as seven days were complete, I said to my sister ‘now I have completed the homework. Please take with me next time to Dua so I can also meet with Baba Jee.’ She agreed.
It was a hot August afternoon, probably 6th August 2007, Monday and I was in my office that my mobile beeped. There was message from Sidra that today is Dua and we are all going. I was filled with a sigh of relief as an immediate instinctive response. This is going to be life changing experience, a voice said from inside. The next set of thoughts was a mixture of curiosity, excitement, nervousness and fear as Sidra had told me that Baba Jee knows everything about everyone. That thought scared me a bit but other than that I was filled with anticipation.
Here we were; my eldest sister Sadaf drove the car with my mum in front seat and both me and Sidra in the back
