    ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

There are too many to name who have taught and supported me in my life lessons. To each one I owe a great deal of gratitude. Without you in my life, I would not have learned my lessons, and this book comes from those lessons. If you have been in my life in any way, you are a part of this book.

A special thanks to my husband and children. You are the ones who have endured the biggest part of this education with me. I only hope I have been able to help you grow as you have always been there for me.

A special thanks goes to my granddaughter, Brittney, for her contribution in providing art for this book. Thank you for sharing your talent.

Also special thanks to Alyson Brown, Shaleen Moore, Jennalee Larsen, Paul Squire, and Brittney Chandler for reading and giving feedback. We are so grateful for your thoughts.

All my love to you, my family and friends, as the lessons continue,

    THE PATH

    SueAnn’s Story

I am a blessed woman. I have lived my life as a daughter, a daughter-in-law, a sister, a sister-in-law, a wife, a mother of seven wonderful children, a foster mom, a mother-in-law, an aunt, and now a grandmother and great grandmother. I have gone through ups and downs that became the teachers I needed to support my growth in this lifetime. There have been joys and sorrows, times of good health and times of illness, struggles to know who I am, and powerful moments when I have learned my truth. As an ordinary woman living an extraordinary life, I want my life experiences to aid in making this a better world.

Many of the decisions I have made in my life have not always been to follow the paths that are considered ‘normal.’ I began studying herbs and natural health practices early in my married life and chose to limit the use of modern medicinal practices. I became interested in alternative health solutions and had my last four children at home with my husband and mother assisting in the deliveries.

I worked with my mother to start a private school and became the teacher to my younger siblings, my own children, and others who asked to join us. We experienced many difficult lessons through standing up for and doing something that was not popular during this time.

As I contemplate the writing of this book, I am faced with defining my purpose and why I want to share some of the things I have learned through my experiences. I have always had a desire to learn about healing by alternative methods and have taken advantage of many ways to do this. I have learned that I can heal my body and spirit just by changing my thoughts and how I make choices. I have learned the great importance of attitude. I have learned that I can have the life I want for me and my family. I have learned a reverence for life and all the beauties and wonders of this world. I have learned that life is much simpler than we think. I have learned the power of love.

One of the huge turning moments in my learning happened several years ago. A friend invited me to attend a guest event with her. It was an informal meeting to introduce friends to a training seminar that taught better communication skills for improving relationships. I was hooked, so I enrolled in the first segment of this three-part course that covered a time period of three months. At the end of the three months, I was amazed how much my attitude about life had improved. Yes, my attitude and my thoughts were the big factors in changing my life. I ‘woke up.’ I discovered that I have value and that my life wasn’t just a mistake. This was the beginning of a new way of living and the end of an old one. I have learned to be grateful for all the wonderful things I already have in my life as well as how to manifest all the things I thought my life was missing. I learned that as an individual I have power.

Another big moment came as I was shopping with a good friend. We met a young woman who did tarot readings, so we decided, just for fun, to have her do a reading for each of us. Within two weeks of having that reading I found myself signed up for massage college and entered in a Reiki class on the side. As my love for energy healing work grew so did my desire to share what I was learning with the whole world. I must admit that I have learned much more than I can ever teach, but this book is my way of sharing what I have learned about becoming more aware and consciously participating in my own life. It represents a small part of what I have learned and still leaves room for all the wonderful things I have yet to learn, for I have also discovered that the more I learn, the more I still don’t know.

I felt impressed to invite my oldest daughter to write with me as she can keep me focused (she is not afraid to call me on my crap so I can keep moving forward) and she has done a lot of this same work and has much to offer others. This book is a collaboration of ideas from two different points of view molded together to present ideas to help you grow no matter where you are on your learning path.

Before we begin this journey, there are a few suggestions I want to offer to help you get the most from this book. Remember you are always at choice. You choose whether the suggested ideas and activities inspire your learning. I want to encourage you to choose to stay open to miracles that can change your life, to believe in limitless possibilities, and to know that what comes up for you during this learning will be unique to you and will present a new perspective for you to learn from. Be honest, especially with yourself, commit to give 100% to your growth, and, at all times, be kind, loving, and gentle with yourself. My hope is that you will learn to celebrate the magnificence that you are.

May your journey be blessed with all things for your good.

    Kiora’s Story

Every life is a journey of discovery. As I look back over my journey thus far, it’s almost like looking at two lives. Imagine planning a trip. You start in California and you map out a course to Maine. Somewhere along the way, you run into a detour and the next thing you know, you’re in Florida. Yet you find that this is where you really needed to be all along.

My detour came in the form of a self-awareness/communication workshop introduced to me by my mother. Before this experience, I was stuck in an unhappy and oppressive marriage. I had four children. I had dropped out of college and had long abandoned hope of going back. I had no self-worth and was deeply depressed. I had let go of all my dreams and goals. I was desperately seeking answers and purpose in a religion that held no peace for me.

This workshop that I attended saved my life and it set me on a completely different path. It opened my mind and my heart to new ways of thinking and of perceiving myself and the world around me.

It was a rocky transition. My husband and I parted ways. I went back to school and got
