    About the Author

    Preface

The Word Chess is a multi-player educational and recreational game played on 50 letter chess pieces:

    3A, 3E, 3I, 3O, 3U, 2Y,

    2B, 2C, 2D, 2F, 2G, 2H, 2L, 2M, 2N, 2P, 2R, 2S, 2T,

    1J, 1K, 1Q, 1V, 1W, 1X, 1Z

and 20 black separating chess pieces.

The Chessboard is made up of eleven vertical and eleven horizontal lines creating 100 small squares where the chess pieces can reside in. The places limited by two consecutive horizontal or vertical lanes are called lanes.

A letter chess piece can move freely on any horizontal or vertical lane provided other chess pieces do not obstruct it.

The black separating chess pieces and the borders of the chessboard limit the Letter strings of letters to be considered.

The objective of the Word Chess game is to extract the letters, in any order, from the Letter strings, which can help build English words based on the following basic concepts:

    1) A letter in a Letter string represents its presence, not its number, in the string. In other words, a letter in a string represents any copies of it in the string.

Example: Letter string ‘TEAL’ is the same as ‘TEALELA’.

    2) Many copies of a letter in a Letter string represent the presence of this letter, not the number of its copies, in the string.

Example: Letter string: ‘BEYAA’ is the same as ‘BEYA’.

    3) A Letter word is a collection of letters extracted from a Letter string that can be transformed into a valid English word. The transformation may be the rearrangement of the letters, the deletion of redundant letters, the addition of letters already present in the Letter word.

Note 1: The Letter words are the words to be taken out in a Word Chess game.

The Letter word must contain all copies of its letters.

Note 2: The accepted English words must have at least 3 letters.
