Laverne Simmons was born and raised in Brooklyn New York. Since the age of 15 years old she volunteered her services to day care centers and schools and eventually went to Touro college where she earned a Bachelor’s of science. She currently still working for the Board of Education as a paraprofessional to help those kids in need for 15 years. Laverne’s love for children eventually led her to writing a children’s book. How children are able to learn share, grow, adapt and view things differently inspired her to create stories such as Princess Leah Tutu’s.
