About this ebook

It's 986 years into the future, and Earth has colonized 8 additional planets. Each planet created a new society based on their most valued qualities - such as on Observia where people place high importance on logic, structure and science in their everyday lives, or on Authenticum, where people value creativity, originality and beauty over all else. But, the differences in mindset between the planets grew too great, and the inhabited universe is on the verge of all-out war. Nine children - one from each planet - are sent on a journey in a last-chance effort to discover a way for the planets to find understanding and cooperation before it is too late... But will this mission succeed? Lucifix will try everything in his power to prevent a peaceful outcome. Let's just say that he has his own dark motives....

Mission9 is an engaging and easy way for children and adults alike to get started with the basic principles of understanding Core Qualities and the benefit of using the Core Quadrant system. It teaches not only that there is strength in the variety found in different types of people, but also the importance of recognizing our similarities and working through our difficulties to bring balance within ourselves and perhaps even peace !? A book that makes you look at the world in a totally different way! It will open a treasure trove of self-understanding and insight... With 29 Full-Color illustrations!

    CHAPTER 1

    War or Peace

It must come to an end…

The age of tyranny is over! It’s been nearly a thousand years of getting bossed around, and now it must come to an end. Times have changed. Ambitia must no longer be allowed to think that they are the masters in this universe. All of the planets have equal rights. If we continue on this way, then there is only one possible outcome, and that is all-out war between the planets. This has to stop!

The president of the planet Idealum did his best to be convincing. His planet was one of the nine inhabited planets in the universe.

There was once only a single inhabited planet, and it was called Earth. But that was a long time ago - 986 years, to be exact. Over the course of the centuries, the residents of Earth discovered and colonized eight new habitable planets. Idealum was one of those planets. Every time a new planet was discovered, groups of people split off from Earth and settled on the new planet. It had gone on this way for centuries.

For a long time, Earth was seen as the mother planet, but the planets gradually grew more and more apart in their habits and customs. All nine were now so different from each other that it was hard to imagine that they once had a common origin. At some point, Earth changed its name, and ever since then it was known as Ambitia.

The president of Ambitia spoke up: If there’s no one taking the lead, then the consequences will become dire. You’re all originally from this mother planet. Therefore, we’re obviously the best choice for holding the leadership. You’re all so extreme in your tendencies. There is a good reason why we win the most medals at the Interplanetary Games every year.

The room suddenly filled with boo-ing and ‘tttssssttt’ noises.

It was a typical comment that could only come from Ambitia. Everything on that planet revolved around being ‘the best’, competing, coming in first, and above all, victory. Because they were so obsessed with winning, their mothering role gradually degenerated into a dominator role. No one on any planet was safe from Ambitia’s need to always ‘have more’ and ‘go farther’. The other planets were fed up. They couldn’t take Ambitia’s haughty attitude any longer. The time of saying ‘yes-and-amen’ to the former mother planet was over.

The president of Idealum took the floor again. This Council for the United Planets was not created so that we could follow Ambitia like sheep. That is just not going to happen any longer. The differences between our planets have become too great for that. Every planet has built its own society. Ambitia no longer represents the role of father or mother, who constantly has to call us to order. We can decide for ourselves what is best for us.

What do you actually know about us? cried the king of Authenticum. When did you last visit our planet? We’re tired of being viewed as silly dreamers. You have all become unoriginal duplicates of one another, running around thinking only winning is important. Life is not about anything else for you guys on Ambitia. You may think that we are just a bunch of scatterbrains and weirdos, but there is no planet that has produced as much beauty as Authenticum.

The king of Authenticum was right about that. On Authenticum, people attached great importance to making things beautiful, to art, music, theater and spectacle. They loved ‘beauty’ there. It was without a doubt the most gorgeous planet in the universe.

Yes, and please check your own accounting on Ambitia before you decide to come and check on us. On Observia, everything is correct to the details. You will not find any irregularities. This was said by the director of the planet Observia, who spoke in a controlled manner, though just a little too quietly.

Can you speak a little louder? the president of Ambitia asked.

We substantiate everything out to two decimal places. We do not tolerate guesswork. We are accurate, careful and precise and we mainly think in terms of facts. Let’s stop with all the vague words, whose meaning nobody can understand exactly. Let’s use common sense. I propose that we do a study to analyze the problems between our planets. Measuring is knowing and guessing is missing. All that emotional hassle does not seem sensible to us and only leads to more confusion. Our supercomputer is currently working on probability calculations in which hundreds of possible solutions for the problems between our planets are being analyzed. Unfortunately, even with the fastest processors, it will take another two years for the first results to arrive. But we should not rush this.

The planetary representative of Compassia took the floor: We want to help everyone understand the feelings from all planets. Let’s support and trust each other. I believe we can only solve this problem with love - love for each other. Every day for the last few centuries it’s become a bit colder in the hearts of the people of Ambitia. I also think that Energeticum is a planet where they should show more feeling. We want to help them, but our hands are tied if there is no willingness to find goodwill.

Oh, come on! Stop all the mushy-feely nonsense. What are we, a bunch of wimps? It had not escaped anyone’s notice that this was the leader of Energeticum. Support and trust each other? Nobody will benefit from that. We don’t need anyone’s help, because we’re strong enough to figure it out on our own. You listen up, president of Ambitia. Actually, for the sake of convenience, why don’t you all listen carefully to what I’m about to say. I’ll only explain it one more time. As a leader of Energeticum, I can guarantee that we will not be suppressed. We can easily take care of ourselves. You all need a better understanding of what your place is in this universe. Energeticum isn’t afraid of anyone, and certainly not for Ambitia. Also, everyone just needs to start minding their own business. Watching Compassia patronize and mother everyone as if they were little babies is driving us crazy.

The planetary representative of Compassia almost choked on her own saliva and stammered, We’re just trying to be involved and helpful, what is wrong with that?

The leader from Energeticum ignored her remark and continued, Friendship is important to us as well. However, you must first earn it. By the way, we can’t stand those spineless fluffs on Securitum. What a bunch of babies: ‘watch out’, ‘beware’, ‘oh no, don’t’, ‘that’s dangerous’... grow up! Such whiners.

I really believe that we should try to find a solution to this crisis through talking. We must try to stay positive. With this last remark, the chairman of the planet Positino tried to give the conversation a different turn. Let’s use positively charged words. It’s going to work, it’s going to be okay. Let’s not sit back and try to guess the future. Seize the day, seize the week, seize everything you can think of, except let’s not start seizing and pulling each other. That way we can avoid trouble. Tomorrow is another day, tomorrow there are new opportunities. As chairman of Positino, I can tell you that on our planet everyone believes strongly in this. We, too, have problems with the planet Securitum, where people are always concerned with security, mistrust and pessimism. It would make us puke if we - against our better judgment - did not have such faith in you all. I can tell you that at this moment, everyone in the IFPT - the Institute For Positive Thinking - is thinking positively in order to try to influence the attitudes during this meeting in a positive way.

The minister of Securitum reacted and said, Then I hope it works, because I want the leader of Energeticum to take back the words ‘spineless fluffs’ immediately. We’re not cowards, we’re just being careful, that’s all. With that kind of language, you’re just asking for trouble. Let’s make sure that this doesn’t start getting out of hand, we need to tread carefully. As long as you all know that we’re keeping a close eye on all of you. Nothing escapes us. Securitum is attentive, vigilant and alert and we leave nothing to chance. We won’t allow ourselves to be suppressed any more, especially not by the champions in taking over: Ambitia.

What in the world is so bad about winning? I don’t understand that. What do you do without ambition? It keeps you sharp and always produces results in the end. The president of Ambitia had started talking louder and louder and was slowly becoming hoarse. When he saw that no one was listening anymore, he looked at the group leader of the planet Mediato and roared as loudly as he could: You haven’t said anything yet! Don’t you have anything to say? You are the champions in staying out of it, aren’t you? Come on, say something!

    A brilliant idea

Mediato’s group leader cleared his throat, sat up a bit straighter and said calmly, My dear council members, the truth is somewhere in between.

Before he could continue, the president of Ambitia sighed: "Oh good, that’s very helpful..."

However, the group leader did not allow himself to be distracted and continued, I have always said: let’s not argue but instead take the time to listen to each other and to understand each other. Only in this way can we make progress. Let’s respect each other’s opinions. Somehow it should be possible to come to an understanding, shouldn’t it? But it doesn’t look like that this is getting us anywhere. We adults probably won’t be able to work it out together. We already have too many prejudices about each other. That’s why I have an idea. We only have one possibility and that is... He interrupted his speech, hesitated for a moment and then continued: ...our children.

What are you saying...? the leader of Energeticum interrupted him.

Brilliant... said the king of Authenticum.

I don’t get it, said the director of Observia. What do you mean?

"The only chance I think we have left is to put our fate in the hands of our children. They are still open to new things. They aren’t so stuck in all kinds of beliefs yet. If we go to war with each other, what will be left for our children after that? What do we leave behind? Probably one big mess, disorder, death and destruction, a slaughter for our offspring. We can’t do that.

I believe that our children can be the key to solving this problem. I would suggest that we choose a child from every planet who is still open to new things, a child who still wants to learn from others. Children who can think differently and try to understand could be our salvation."

It cannot be right for us to place our fate in the hands of children. said the president of Idealum. How can they ever reach a successful conclusion? They are still far too young for that.

The chairman of Positino smiled and said, Oh why not? What do we have to lose?

Yes, but we can’t saddle young children with such an important and dangerous task. We shouldn’t do that to them. It was the Minister of Securitum who once again managed to conjure up a yes-but-no remark.

Maybe we should send Solomon with them, added the representative of Compassia. Solomon has assisted us often with his wise counsel over the past 150 years. Children love him. At least then they will have some guidance.

The president of Ambitia muttered quietly under his breath, though not quietly enough that his neighbor couldn’t hear: that old fogey?

Look, the suggestion to use Solomon is at least an idea we can use, said Mediato’s group leader, that might make it easier for the kids and for us. They have someone to fall back on and we can put our fate in their hands with a little more peace of mind.

    Yes, but...

But before the next objection could be raised, he came up with a proposition.

"I submit that we vote on the following proposal:

    1. Each planet chooses one child.

    2. The age must be between 13 and 15 years.

    3. Together we build a spaceship so that these nine children can visit all the planets.

    4. Solomon will go with them and he will assist the children with his wise advice.

    5. There are no other adults on this trip.

    6. They will be welcomed with hospitality and open arms on all planets.

The leader, representative, king, president, minister, chairman, and director of each planet -or whatever title they have- will instruct this group of children to come up with plans that we will implement without further discussion. We adults have been making a laughingstock of ourselves for a long time. It appears that we simply aren’t able to solve our problems. That ship has sailed. We will give the selected young people our full confidence and put our fate in their hands.

That is what we are going to vote on now. Raise your hand if you are in favor. The proposal will only go ahead if it is adopted unanimously, in other words, if everyone raises their hands."

The chairman of Positino immediately raised his hand. Then the group leader of Mediato decisively raised his own hand. The hand of the representatives/leaders of the planets, Authenticum, Securitum, Energeticum, Compassia, Observia and Idealum followed in succession...

Everyone was now looking at the president of Ambitia. Slowly the president stood up. You could almost cut the tension with a knife. It was very quiet within the imposing building of The Council for the United Planets; this building that radiated the glory of a planet that thought it was in charge.

The president of Ambitia looked up at the sunlight shining in from all sides through the impressive windows. He looked at the sun’s rays, which seemed to connect all the representatives. He looked around. His gaze rested on Mediato’s group leader and he grabbed the microphone with one hand. Everyone heard clearly how the president of Ambitia breathed in and out deeply and swallowed vigorously and then, somewhat
