Winning the Invisible War with Christ

The reality of the invisible world and its wars is evinced by tangible realities in the physical ephemeral sphere. Sometimes, abstract scenes from the dream world appearing in form of sweet dreams or nightmares in human subconscious mind metamorphose into real life experiences, to say the least.

The enigma that stems from these ethereal perspectives seems to stick in the silver lining of our day-to-day activities irrespective of any personal persuasion, religious belief or freethinking conviction. It is clear from these indications that the physical is largely ruled by the spiritual and that prevailing events in the affairs of mankind are the resultant effects of the sublime and impalpable causes.

There are invisible courts where decisions are made and verdicts are passed which influence visible happenings on this side of the divide and reflect such streaks in the elemental system in an unhinged manner. It is mostly characterized by annoying, recurrent misfortunes.

And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, and prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him (Revelation 12:7-9).

T he fight against Satan is an invisible war and we are continuously engaged in a cosmic battle with him and his cohorts. The battle is not optional; it is real and must be fought. This old serpent beguiled Eve in the Garden of Eden but had his head crushed by the Lord Jesus Christ Who is the solution to the problems of humanity. This victory of Christ belongs to all believers today because we are sitting in the heavenly places - the position of victory - to fight the craftiness, enticement, lies and deception that this enemy always throws at us from time to time. Failure to grasp this reality opens the door of opportunity for this monster to attack us and win. Satan influences the world systems and the way humans think; he works through the mind of human agencies to carry out his nefarious operations. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:12).

The schemes of Satan can never be overestimated nor underestimated for any reason, but with the right application of the knowledge acquired about his tactics, every believer in Christ is empowered to have continuous victory over this enemy of human soul in every battle. Satan is not equal in power and authority as God, but he is just as real. Yes, the spiritual battle is real and the origin of invisible war is from Satan. With his empty pride, limited power and short time, he continues to deceive humanity into his onslaught of wickedness. Nevertheless, he has been defeated by Christ. Christian should be more focused on God’s ability and power than that of Satan and there is no terrible situation in the life of men that God cannot change by His awesome power.

In view of this, God has also given us spiritual armours to fight the battle and win in order to subdue the kingdom of Satan in this world and set his captives free. Many lives, families, homes, territories, provinces, states and nations are under the influence of Satan and his agents. And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains: Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him. Always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones. But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him, and cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not. For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit. And he asked him, what is thy name? And he answered, saying, my name is Legion: for we are many (Mark 5:2-9).

This man had been tormented by six thousand demons continually both day and night for many years. Satan has put a hold on his life and was ready to destroy him. But his story changed when he had a personal encounter with Jesus Christ. This single experience transformed his life and destiny. Christ’s power is awesome and has lordship over Satan and demons. By His word, Jesus commanded the demons to come out of him and he was free instantaneously.

No amount of demons in hell can resist the authority of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Upon realizing His power and authority over them, the evil spirits left immediately. No matter the situation in your life, whether it is similar to that of the Gadarene demoniac who dwelt among tombs or that the enemy has placed a curse on you or your family to kill your joy and steal your peace which was once enjoyed by your family or it may even be that you are suffering from demonic attacks, I announce to you today that Jesus has come to set the captives free and He will exercise dominion and authority over the power of darkness in your life. And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free … If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed (John 8:32, 36).

Through Jesus’ death on the cross at Calvary, Satan has been defeated and Christ purchased victory for His beloved children. This is the victory that true believers have in Christ. Have you given your life to Jesus, or do you think it’s not necessary? No sinner can have victory over sins, Satan and demons without the saving power and blood of Jesus Christ. Above all, no one can see God at the end of their journey on earth without salvation. To have this power today, a sinners need to repent of his sins by confessing them to the Lord Jesus and asking for His forgiveness in order to benefit from the finished work of Jesus.

No power in heaven, on earth and beneath can stand at the mention of the mighty name of Jesus. The believer will recover all that the enemy has taken from him. Hence our God is more dependable than what we think or feel. He has given us the both authority and power over Satan to stand against him and his cohorts. The question comes to you again: On whose side are you? Who are you following or obeying? Are you following Satan directly or indirectly? What shall it profit you if you gain the best gifts, talent, healing, protection, riches, fame as a star and all that the world can afford from Satan and you lose your soul with him in hell?

Have you forgotten God, living without remembering His provision of salvation through Jesus Christ? Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved…Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (Acts 4:12; John 14:6). Are you a church goer with hypocritical lifestyle – professing to be a Christian, pastor, prophet and apostle that appeared to be righteous before men but wicked and sinful before God? Are you condemned in your heart for hidden besetting sins of the flesh? Is your heart hardened and your conscience dead?

Are you privately a slave of sin, a helpless tool in the hands of Satan? Are you a liar, an adulterer/adulteress, a fornicator, sorcerer, witch, wizard or necromancer? Are murderer of innocent babies, kids and other fellow men. Are you a secret idol worshipper and an instrument in the hands of the devil who yet appears as a minister of God on the pulpit? Are you a saint in the church on Sunday but a sinner during week at home or elsewhere? You can’t have one leg in one of these things mentioned above and the other leg in the church and still claim to be a born-again Christian. Hence religion that makes a mere virtue out of faith in God without a corresponding salvation from sinful practices is nothing but self-delusion and deception. Should you die today, where will you spend your eternity?

Religion does not save a soul, only the blood of Jesus has the power to save and to deliver from the power of Satan. "Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us…And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb (Jesus, the Lamb of God) and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death" (Hebrews 9:12; Revelation 12:11).

Remember that our time on earth is short but eternity (with Satan in hell or God in heaven) is endless. What the devil offers to humanity in this world is not free but is temporal with grave consequences. But Christ, the Lamb of God, offers us a free opportunity to full salvation of life eternal and victory if we surrender our lives to Him today and want to win the invisible war from this old time enemy. Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away (James 4:14). It is like a sea without a bottom, like an ocean without a shore. Short as our life is here on earth, endless will it be in eternity. May God help us to know how to number our days. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord… So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom (Romans 6:23; Psalms 90:12).

THE ORIGIN OF SATAN

T here is a need for every believer to have a balanced understanding of Satan and maintain a Scriptural attitude towards his activities and that of his agents. Christians often take either of two extreme positions. Some pretend to be unaware of the existence and operations of Satan and demons. This approach is a seeming denial of the bitter hatred that Satan has consistently manifested towards God and man, the crown of His creation.

Other believers tend to over-magnify the power of Satan to the point that his activities overshadow their consciousness of the power of the Almighty God. Hence it is important to know that the Scriptures contain all that believers need to know on the subject of Satan and his demons’ activities. Satan’s rebellion and fall marked the beginning of sins and all evil. A third of the angels in Heaven joined Satan’s rebellion in a coup d’état and were all driven out by God along with him.

Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee… And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, Saying, let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God. And Jesus rebuked him, saying, hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him (Ezekiel 28:15-17; Mark 1:23-26).

Satan was created as a beautiful, holy, perfect and knowledgeable angel by the Almighty God. He was highly placed above other angels in Heaven to lead them with divine ability of holiness in glorifying God… He was also given free will to choose good or evil but because of pride and rebellion, he chose not to retain the glorious position that God had given him, so, he fell. "How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend
