Obviously and in spite of silly denials, credence is lent to the awful reality of ugly demonic activities and largely inexplicable, intractable and unpleasant occurrences globally. Ombudsmen, technocrats, and apparatchiks grapple frantically with the puzzles stemming from the orchestrated evil creativity of the discountenanced invisible archenemy of God and mankind.

This handbook is the revised edition of Satanic Attacks and the Way Out and the author, by personal experience, sets out to unravel the mystery of darkness in order tackle these unbecoming situations at the roots by providing the necessary tools for dominion and proffering plausible solutions for readers to break free from these nagging experiences unhurt. In Ephesians 6:12, Paul says, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” This handbook provides a blueprint for believers to follow and equips them with the biblical principles for engaging in war with this archenemy of our souls and overcoming him.

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. (2 Corinthians 10:3-6)

A spiritual attack is a series of events coordinated by the demonic realm in order to abort God’s promises, shipwreck faith, oppress believers and derail destinies through different stages of demonic manipulation—oppression, obsession and possession—of an individual, family, church or nation.

The reason every believer should fight the good fight of faith and win is that we engage in constant battle with our common enemy, the devil. God expects the fulfilment of our own obedience in Him before He can revenge every disobedience of the enemy. Paul said, Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices (2 Corinthians 2:11).

War is going on all around us, continually. It is an invisible war with visible effects on individuals, families, neighbourhoods, cities, villages and nations. Even the Church has not been spared from this battle, as is evidenced by the fall of spiritual giants, the backsliding of once faithful saints, conflicts and splits in congregations through rejection, witchcraft, manipulation and the spirit of Jezebel causing spiritual poverty, lukewarmness, strange sicknesses and sudden death.

Satan is real and his activities are seen in the everyday affairs of mankind; but God is ready to revenge all disobedience for us when our own obedience is fulfilled in Christ Jesus.

How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning!how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit … Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (Isaiah 14:12–15; Ephesians 6:10–12)

S atan’s rebellion and fall marked the beginning of all evil. A third of the angels in Heaven got caught up in his rebellion and they were driven out by God along with him. This company of fallen spirits now constitutes the armies of the kingdom of darkness with established hierarchies fulfilling satan’s purposes and programs on earth. They are variously referred to in the Scriptures as unclean spirits and devils or demons. And unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him, and cried, saying, You are the Son of God…So the devils besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine (Mark 3:11; Matthew 8:31).

Demons are spirit-beings that seem to take special delight in expressing themselves in the material world through various bodies, especially that of humans. They possess all the normally accepted marks of personality—will, intelligence, self-awareness, emotion and speech.

Demons are very strategic to satan’s operations and activities in the world. Since he is not omnipresent, satan accomplishes his purpose for nations, cities, whole communities, families and individuals through their instrumentality.

And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty… But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia. (Revelation 16:13-14; Daniel 10:13)

Reasons for Satanic Attacks

Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it…And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel…Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us. (John 8:44; 1 Chronicles 21:1; 1 Thessalonians 2:18)

Know for sure that satan will never attack you if there’s nothing to steal in you. If you’re being constantly attacked, please don’t give up; it means there are some virtues in you that would glorify God on earth and expand His Kingdom, which the devil wants to steal, kill and destroy. Yes, the glory of God in you is desirable enough for the devil to steal, but be of good cheer, the Captain of our salvation is with you and the storm shall be stilled.

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly…But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel: For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name’s sake (John 10:10; Acts 9:15-16).

Satan envies and hates every believer because the believer is a threat to his kingdom. If your desire is to please God, do the will of the Lord and always serve Him, you will continually be a target of the devil’s attacks and great trials as Job, Joseph, Paul and others were. Other reasons for demonic attacks include:

1. Unrepented Sin.He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy (Proverbs 28:13). When we habitually and wilfully sin, it opens the door for evil spirits to come and torment us until we finally and fully repent. Sin unlocks the spiritual door to our soul that allows demons to legally come
