    FOREWORD

Goddess is a word we hear a lot these days, but the concept of a goddess is diverse and multi-faceted. To some, the word may evoke an image of a mythological Greek deity; others may think of Madonna, Beyoncé, or Lady Gaga. To you, goddess may be more about the distinct feminine characteristics of being fluid, nurturing, creative, soft, intuitive, supportive, and powerful.

A goddess is a woman who is strong, confident, and self-assured, who stands in her power but honors her femininity. A goddess has the courage to move past her fears to show up fully in life, to love and be loved, and to love herself.

Every single woman is a goddess. You, reading this right now—you are an amazingly unique goddess.

But not every woman has yet realized or recognized this side of herself. Many women, in fact, have been stuck playing small and being told to stay small. Many women have been told since they were young girls that they aren’t pretty enough, tall enough, small enough, strong enough, or smart enough.

Since when did we start believing these stories? More importantly, when will we stop believing them? It starts with you. It starts with your mother and your sisters, your friends and your daughters. It starts now, and it can start with this book.

21 Days to Feeling Gorgeous is a delightful balance of personal and relatable anecdotes, challenging but necessary and oh-so-freeing self-work and healing, along with real-world advice and practices every woman can benefit and grow from. Jessica not only breathes so much life, realness, and acceptance into the not-so-easy-to-address challenges we all deal with, but also provides the tools you—we—need to make a positive and lasting change.

This book is not all sunshine and roses. It gets gritty, it gets real, and it asks you—challenges you—to dig deep, to face the bullshit, and address the shadows of your past. Ever heard of the term no mud, no lotus? We must first wade through the muck of life’s challenges in order to uncover the beautiful blossoming lotus that is our highest self, our highest potential, and our true nature. That is the shift this book creates.

I have had the honor of being surrounded by strong female figures throughout my life. In my career, I have enjoyed the privilege of working with and among strong and successful female teachers, entrepreneurs, influencers, and leaders. It has shown me that individually, women have the power and ability to create the life they want to live and that collectively, women are able to support each other, rise up, and create a massive societal shift.

Yet as so many of us have, I grew up in a culture of women and girls tearing each other down, judging and condemning each other based on appearance, perceived competition, and jealousy. For years I watched as these women perpetuated the very behavior that oppresses us, divides us, and keeps us playing small.

    This behavior has also perpetuated
