About this ebook

Only ten percent of the world’s population is left-handed, and little Gracie Carter is one of them. Growing up left-handed has unexpected and overlooked challenges.

Gracie never thought about which hand she used to color. Then her world becomes filled with nicknames and puns when a loud-mouthed classmate, Scott Collins, calls attention to it. Soon, Scott gives Gracie the nickname, Lefty. Others begin calling Gracie by her new identity. The more Gracie disowns being called Lefty, the more she’s teased. She tries to print right-handed, but her numbers look like anything but digits. When she tells her family about the teasing, Gracie learns a valuable lesson about just being herself. Eventually, her teacher finds a way to cleverly, yet gently, end the mockery.

Through the everyday experiences of little Gracie Carter, this picture book for children discusses the challenges faced by left-handed people.

Don't Call me Lefty by Dr. Kris CondiYoung Gracie is left handed. She struggles in school with being different, is often teased and called "Lefty". She tries very hard to fit in by attempting to write with her right hand. With the help of her Teacher she learns there are other left handed people and some ambidextrous as well.A fantastic book for young readers, with beautiful illustrations. Learning to accept your differences at an early age can be a challenge. Don't Call Me Lefty is perfect for children (that are) left handed and ambidextrous. It helps them learn they are not alone. Also for the rest of the children who are right handed they get the feel of how others (not like them) feel when being teased. I being left handed found this book very enjoyable and highly recommend to all.
