    DEDICATION

In memory of the powerful women and men of God who have nurtured and encouraged me and transitioned to glory, Bigma, Lela Mae James, Apostle Annie B. Campbell-Pitre, Bishops Vinton R. Anderson and Richard Allen Hildebrand and Edward Kownacki, Sr.

T O THOSE WHOSE imminent success has mirrored Bill Murray in the Caddy Shack attempting to get rid of golf course gophers. Here the devourer is the little foxes.

To my warrior Sisters who have been in a perpetual battle praying to eradicate backbiting, talebearing, hating, laying trap, the mad dogs of jealousy, envy and incredulous competition, sexism in hiring, promotions, salaries and lending and shattering the glass ceiling of the burgundy, velvet lined, cigar smoke filled, MEN ONLY decision-making rooms.

GOD IS ANSWERING THOSE PRAYERS. 2019 is a record breaking year. Like Shayami Maridjan says ‘Continue to stand up, step forward, and by all means speak out!. The Prominent Matters, FB Live, Apostles Shayami Maridjan and Yolanda Powell. It is the Lord’s doing and it’s marvelous in our eyes!

Whoso privily slanders his neighbor, him will I cut off: him who has a high look and a proud heart will not I suffer.

My eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with Me; he who walks in a perfect way, he shall serve Me.

He who works deceit shall not dwell within My House: He who tells lies shall not tarry in My sight.

I will early destroy all of the wicked of the land; that I may cut off all wicked doers from the City of the Lord.

    INTRODUCTION

The setting is a very rich section of Palestine, called Shunem. It is the infamous home of the woman who cared for the prophet Elisha. Her husband was indebted and deceased. Her sons were about to be enslaved for the indebtedness. Elisha told her to borrow vessels, close the door and poor oil into them. She complied and her household was spared.

This is also the site of the barren woman who discerned that Elisha was a prophet. She constrained her husband to establish an upper room for him so that when he and Gehazi passed through the area, they would have a place to rest and be replenished. For her kindness, God blessed her to have a son fulfilling Elisha’s prophecy; but her son subsequently died. Elisha was used to miraculously resurrect him. (2 Kings 4:8-37 KJV).

Finally Shunem is known as the uneven or unbalanced place in scripture for the Philistine encampment prior to the battle at Gilboa (I Samuel 28:4 KJV). God had departed from Saul for his failure to obey and kill Amalek. He was going to battle but God did not respond by the Urim and Thummim, prophecy or otherwise. God cut Saul off completely. Saul resorted to the witch at Endor who called Samuel up from the grave; but he refused to help Saul because God rejected him.

Shunem was also the home of Abishag, David’s nurse.(I Kings 1:3 KJV).

It is here that we meet the smitten young Shulamite/ Shunammite (gentle, peaceful). She is presumed to be from Shunem and of the venerable tribe of Issachar. (Joshua 19:18 KJV). Issachar who knows the times, seasons and the course to take. This is the place of resurrection, promises kept, abominable desecration seeking answers from the dead due to God’s rejection of the rebellious King Saul. It is here where we experience the final tenderness of David’s last days.

This Shunammite woman is rehearsing her love as the Bride to her Beloved, our Saviour. This is the foreshadowing of the true Bride, the church, smitten by Christ and at one with her Beloved Savior and Lord.

The Shulamite is so in love that it makes her faint and weakens her innermost being. Songs of Solomon 2:4-6 KJV. Her Beloved envelopes her and satiates her with kindness and attentiveness til she feels completely overwhelmed. This is truly ‘husbands love your wives as Christ loves the church and gave Himself for it.’ He brings her to the banquet house (Marriage Supper). He holds her head with His left hand as He embraces and feeds her sweet smelling apples, flagons (raisin cakes), figs and tender grapes with His right. His banner over her is love. Unable to resist, she succumbs to Him.

In the midst of all of the romance and joy, there is an unwanted intrusion, an invasive group, a rude awakening. The little foxes are devouring the grapes. They are not just eating their fill. They are selective, choosing the choicest, the tender, sweet grapes, the youth, the children of the vine. They are ravenous. Psalms 63:10 KJV. She prays to be rid of them. Songs of Solomon 2:13,15 KJV. There is so much hidden meaning here. Jesus, her Beloved, is the true vine. The Father is the husbandman, not these miscreant foxes. The tender grapes are the saved generations…the labor, the works of our hands as His fivefold servants. John 15 KJV.

As expounded below, some foxes are external, some are internal. Galatians 5:19-26 KJV (works of the flesh v. fruit of the Spirit). The internal foxes are dealt with extensively in CHRIST: THE PREEMINENT THRONE, by Dr. Cynthia King Bolden Gardner (Authorhouse, 2012.)

The foxes represent falsehood, false doctrine, adding to and subtracting from the Word of God, enemies, opportunists, deceitful workers like those that lead captive silly women laden with deceitful lusts. Luke 13:32, Song of Solomon 2:15, Ezekiel 13:4, Jude all KJV. The foxes won’t study to show themselves approved, they have itching ears that will not endure sound doctrine. They lack discipline and structure. They also represent the demonic, the principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this world, spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6 KJV), shallow, nutritionless rocky soil and the scorching sun. Matthew 13 KJV.

Whatever the source, the destruction is critical. (Nehemiah 4:3 KJV) The grapes produce the wine for the Supper where Christ will drink it anew with us. The grapes also represent or are figurative of the wrath of God (Isaiah 63 KJV) and reflect the once shed blood of Christ as well as the future shed blood of His enemies. The tender grapes represent the upcoming generations, new converts as well as the remnant that shall remain.

On a more mundane level the little tender grapes represent whatever the protagonist (you) is attempting to accomplish, produce, create, improve, repair or rectify. The work of your hands on behalf of the Kingdom is the focal point of the antagonistic foxes attack.

The foxes purpose is to distract, derail and destroy. It may be a move to a new community due to a promotion
