About this ebook

This is a visual description of the dark corners of my mind and soul. Everything written was only written once, I always kept writing, even if I messed up, these are all original pieces from my thoughts. I never planned or plotted any of these poems, I just wrote. This is a visual description of my past battles with PTSD, my recklessness & my love for violence. This is a visual description of me being buried alive, learning from loss, and the battles that take place within me every day. The loss of my father, fair weathered friends, PTSD, Hypervigilance syndrome, depression, anxiety, Agoraphobia, panic, Anger, insomnia, guilt, mistrust, nightmares, detachment and so on and so forth. Towards the end, I climb out of my hole, you can too! YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

Post Traumatic Poetry - Joseph Granados

    SPECIAL ACKNOWLEDGMENT

The following poem is dedicated to the 22 who lost their lives and all those who were effected on August 3, 2019 in El Paso, TX.

Prayers for the masses, automatic flashes, the shooters active we thought this random act of violence couldn’t happen couldn’t imagine this it’s tragic, 22 caskets our city streets abandoned we gotta thank all law enforcement branches holding badges a strangers compassion is massive chuco town’s still standin, we’ll manage

We sun city strong watch us rise up from the ashes

    #ELPASOSTRONG

    Bottled

This volcanic, energetic, expression bottled in an iron bottle beneath my chest/

Filled with feelings, a yin & yang of violence and happiness suppressed/

One more emotion and I over flow submerged in stress/

The over flow is the flow of tears,

    But unemotional am I.

I stand a shell of a man, the shadow of a once was,

Bottled and chained at the bottom of the sea of my soul

Unknown to most – an idea for few – and the one that knows, does not know why/

    That one, is I.

But that bottle must remain, bottled, chained, and….. tied.

    Wasted Smiles

I remember coming home from tour – from war, I couldn’t smile anymore/

Sitting at a table surrounded by laughter and smiling faces, my face stayed
